No video footage, khan said himself in an interview which can be found on here, I think it was 1st or 2nd round, anyway I used to box on the amateur circuit here in the UK and that was the word, ortiz had to take a couple of counts in the 1st so sounded pretty one-sided.
I don't think he is that much less aggressive, he may not exchange as much but that is just smart especially if your faster than all your opponents, he just makes less technical defensive mistakes, his hands are higher, he brings them back up to where they should be after combinations, his right hand is higher when he throws his left hook. Just to name a few, but all-round he is much better, even offensively, physically also. Let me tell you something, on boxer goes through fights without making mistakes its impossible, im not sure we are even watching the same figher? He isn't a tense fighter, he is actually pretty relaxed as far as fighters go.
He will not have to box and move against ortiz for 12 rounds you are considerably underestimating khan's power, kotelnik has an iron chin and a great defence, amir had the right tactics against him, hell maidana couldn't take the middle of the ring against kotelnik, plus ortiz has been gun shy since he lost, and once he feels amir's power trust me he will be again. Amir will box and move early, by the 4th or 5th round he will have the middle of the ring and will be hurting ortiz bad, ortiz isn't a great fighter at long range anyway, but against khan, with those height and reach advantages, forget about it. Ortiz is only chance is a ko in the first 2 or 3 rounds, but amir's jab, speed, power will dismantle ortiz if he can't get amir out of there early.
I guess we'l see if the fight happens, I think if they both win their respective fights they will probably fight next, but im not convinced ortiz will beat nate campbell, he doesn't look the same fighter to me (pre-maidana)
great analysis, you know youre stuff mate
Dude when you fight different opponents you have to fight in different ways, khan can fight in and out he has the hand and footspeed to fight like this, I agree he is not a natural mover boxer but can develop that side of his game but roach has said on numerous occasions he is not gonna turn him into a mover but a mix of aggression and boxing cos thats what roach likes his fighters to do, anyway he has enough power to keep 95% of 140lbers at bay.
You say he doesn't box from the outside naturally, Khan has always boxed from the outside!!! Look at his amateur tapes for god sakes, he has great reflexes and instincts, he sees a lot of shots coming and now he has his hands higher it has made him a better pro. Whether he is fighting front foot or back foot he is an outside fighter, he has no inside game. He is learning how to fight on the inside, and has always been a straight distance puncher.
You saying ortiz is the most physically gifted jww is laughable at best I am not even gonna argue that point. He is not anywhere near as athletic as khan, alexander, bradley, shit maybe even paulie. Technically he is good, he is solid in most areas, but completely unspectacular. People were telling me this kid was the new cotto and the first time I saw him fight...I was like what the **** is all the fuss about. He is no where near or never will be as good as cotto. He is a solid fighter with good power thats all, like I said he may get exposed by an old nate campbell anyway when he should really stop campbell if he wants to be taken seriously.
Agree to disagree
-khan cannot fight like that vs power punchers becuz he will be put at risk
-i never said khan was an inside fighter. i said he WAS a straight line, aggressive, in and out swarmer. he cannot fight like that vs power punchers or else its prescott all over again
-i'll disagree with you that khan has great instincts. hes more talent than skill or boxing acumen. his actual boxing skills are not that great and he's clearly green when trying to box, even at this stage of his career
- ortiz IS the most physically gifted fighter at 140 (will eventually transition to WW easily) which is why he is involved in so many other sports outside of boxing. the kid is a natural gifted athlete. he's got a massive frame for a JWW, natural KO power, great coordination with fast hands and feet. only thing i would give khan a big advantage in his hand speed, but ortiz is no slouch in that area and his combination of power, technique and accuracy makes up for that.
-khan cannot fight like manny. get that through your head. manny's style is still a very risky style which involves jumping in and out, but also involves combinations that could leave the fighter vulnerable should his opponents decide to throw with him. given khan's inability to take a punch, i dont think roach will put him at risk like that, thus having him on the move more.
-what dont you understand about boxing instincts? when khan decides to box from the outside, it does not look natural. his natural proclivity is to be an aggressive in and out swarmer, not a mover and "flash" combo puncher.
-you're trying to make it sound like ortiz is some plodding mexican fighter. he is a VERY athletic fighter, IMO the most naturally, physically gifted current 140 lber (outside of benavidez jr). he is fast-handed with great power, but what makes his punches faster is his great technique. all that combined with his accuracy wont make it that easy for khan to bounce in and out unscathed.
i think in about a yr or even less, you'll be embarrassed to have argued on khan's behalf at all.

Well, that says it all about you!!!!
you make no sense. are you saying that in a yr i'll be saying the same exact thing about khan? if so, you are correct.
i think in about a yr or even less, you'll be embarrassed to have argued on khan's behalf at all. I predict you'll use these exact same words in a years time!!!!
He decked his last opponent with an ACCURATE beautiful combo. At his age and stage in career you have to go by his last fight. He's coming up. When it's time for Ortiz and anybody else he'll be more than ready!!!!
yeah! salita was monster! khan slayed a beast.
khan's coming up? he has a belt. he should be ready right now. im sick of people still treating him like he's some sort of green prospect. if you're a champ, act like one.
No I wouldn't for 2 reasons, you can exchange punches fighting off the back foot with movement like khan did against michael gomez, but didn't exchange as much against barrera and was more aggressive. Number 2 you can be aggresive by getting off first and pushing your man back and utilizing in and out movement, which is how I think roach wants khan to fight, ala manny pacquiao. I am sorry I don't agree with khan being a tense fighter, and even if you say he is, he still threw over 900 punches against kotelnik. I don't know what you mean about his boxing instincts, floyd mayweather he is not, but he still has great reflexes and movement, and I certainly wouldn't call him robotic lol stupid comment. Khan doesn' need to exchange with ortiz, he can get his shots off and get out of the way for the most part. Ortiz is a good fighter, don't get me wrong, but amir is waay better in every department imo. I think in a year or 2 you'l look back at this and be embarrassed, yes amir has defencies but ortiz isn't the fighter to expose them.
We'l see about amir's power if he can ko/tko paulie he will certainly have proved it then

-lesser exchanges = less aggressive wouldnt you agree?
-yes. khan is a tense fighter. a lot of wasted movement and you can see the tension in his arms. its one of the reasons why he was caught vs the fighters he was hurt against. when you fight tense, you have a tendency to freeze.
-lol, so you're implying khan will exchange more with ortiz with his chin? you're crazy. given his physical tools (and deficiencies) it only makes sense to box from the outside and avoid exchanges, but khan is almost robot-like with his boxing movements. he's clearly in transition from being a puncher to becoming a boxer, but as far as boxing instincts, it doesnt look natural.
-khan's height and reach advantage over ortiz would be negligible. he is 1 inch taller and has 1 inch of reach. ortiz is the bigger more physical fighter and he is undoubtedly the heavier puncher, with accuracy, technique and good speed.
-im not convinced of amir's power at 140, especially since he's fighting more on his back foot and on the move. ortiz hits harder. He decked his last opponent with an ACCURATE beautiful combo. At his age and stage in career you have to go by his last fight. He's coming up. When it's time for Ortiz and anybody else he'll be more than ready!!!!
and in terms of dimensions, yeah there isn't that much in it, but ortiz fights in a crouched more explosive stance, but he is not particular blessed with great footwork and footspeed. Amir fights taller and punches much straighter you have to take that into account.

Exactly bro...Ortiz has power, accuracy, and decent speed...a combination of those things makes Ortiz a bigger threat to Khan than Maidana who is a one dementional fighter who throws rabbit punches...Ortiz has similar power to Maidana but the difference is that Ortiz can land punches, is faster, and is more athletic than he is...Khan doesn't have the legs at 140 and his power is overrated...his speed is his weapon and roach's combos but he can still be out muscled and would be countered easily by Ortiz' short accurate punches...
I heard the Khan Vs Ortiz fight in the amateurs was stopped because Khan was ahead of points but never had victor in trouble...
I just checked to make sure and no it was stopped rsc, which means oritz was unfit to continue, or being overwhelmed or outclassed. For it to be a scoring stoppage...khan would have had to be ahead by 20 points after 2 rounds, and it would have had the rsc-os (I believe) which is the citation to a scoring stoppage.

khan's reach advantage over ortiz is negligible. for a fighter with his height, he doesnt even really have great length.
khan wont languish on the inside with ortiz though.
He has ok length but I still find Ortiz to easily beat taller men...just like he did to Mausa and like he did to Resto...he finds the height as an easy target for that cross...I'm surprised at how many people also think Ortiz will stop Khan lol
Ortiz has accurate punching power amd hardly ever misses a punch...Khan has speed and ok power with reach...Ortiz has always proven to handle tall lanky fighters like khan by workinh on the inside amd landing hir right cross...if Ortiz proves against Campbell that he's the same or a better fighter than before the maidana fight then I got Ortiz beating Khan by KO/TKO in round 7...Khan can't spark out Ortiz...
