Floyd-Duran at 135 would have been a classic. Duran is one of the best all-time at that weight and Floyd is one of the top boxers of all-time and that was IMO his best weight.
Floyd UD's Duran at 147 in a comfortable way but decent fight.
Lets not forget, Floyd is past his physical prime at 147 as well IMO ( his foot speed is much slower, he not as active as he was at lightweight and he doesn't punch as hard). That said, i think Duran has a good chance at beating him at both weights( especially light weight). Even at welter, Duran was good enough to beat Leonard (even though he fought the wrong fight the first time) and that skillful pressure mixed with outside boxing ability could confuse any boxer mover. I can't decide on either fights, both are 50/50 IMO at both weights.
I can see what your saying.. but damn, meldrick had these sick combos.. he didnt throw one shot at a time..
i pick duran and pryor because of there ferocity and skill level that went along with it.. pryor could bob and weave and i really cant see floyd keeping him at bay.. same with duran.. those are my only picks against floyd..
If anybody was going to beat Floyd it would be Duran and possibly Pryor. But Taylor had too many flaws. I know he was very fast but he was not very strategic in the ring. He fought more with his heart. And he was never a hard puncher. Mayweather-Taylor might have looked a lot like Mayweather-Judah but even more one sided..
No way Meldrick Tayor beats Mayweather. He was not on Mayweather's level. And I have seen more than just "footage" of Taylor. He had no defense and didn't punch as hard as Floyd does. And Floyd is a much smarter fighter.m Prime Meldrick was held to a draw by past prime Howard Davis. And Davis was no Mayweather. The other two would have been hard, close, competitive fights. But if I had to pick I would pick Mayweather. The fighter with the best chance to beat Mayweather would be Duran.

THISSSS..
I was thinking about making a thread like this..
I mentioned this in another thread.. but the only guys that can beat floyd in the past eras that ive seen much footage of are...
aaron pryor, roberto duran, and meldrick taylor..
the ferocity of the first 2 are rediculous.. floyd wouldnt be able to keep them at bay.. castillo had sucess in his fights with floyd and duran and pryor are much better fighters..

I really think you're underrating Duran's beastie nature, relentlessness, speed, power, physique and dirty tricks.. If the ref didn't keep him away from Mayweather he would be in for a night in hell. What I would really love to see aswell is the pre-fight interview and weigh in. The trash talk of Duran could easily match with Floyds and then some :lol1:

edit.. i dont know HOW i forgot my second fighter of all time.. sweet pea.. I see him outpointing in a competitive bout.. hes about the only fighter that i think can OUTBOX floyd.. he was the purest boxer ive seen..

I agree the build up would be insane. Im sure these two wouldnt like each other. I just have a hunch.
A big factor in this fight would be the referee aswell. If they allowed Duran to rough Mayweather up like in some of his earlier fights or it would be like Mayweather-Hatton where the ref barely allowed any infight. On the outside center of the ring there's of course no doubt who the better boxer is.
I mentioned this before. But I'll say it again Floyd is dumb strong on the inside this guy is hard to bully. No one will just bull rush him. Floyd would keep him in the middle of the ring and just circle him and dart in and out.
Whole resume or just 135?
135........
BUT........
Skillwise.....I say whole resume. As far as greatness or prestige no.
Both of these dudes would be each others biggest test at 135.
I actually did follow his career. He just doesnt get my juices flowing.
This is a safe statement:
Floyd would be the best fighter on Durans resume and Vice Versa. Duran would have his hands full. Floyd can only fight the people whos there.
Whole resume or just 135?
THERE IS NOT A FIGHTER IN FLOYD WHOLE RESUME THAT IS BETTER THAN DURAN PERIOD AND YOU KNOW THAT.
Floyd never beat at 135 pounder that was better than Ken Buchanan. And, DeJesus is arguably better than Castillo. Who is the best fighter that Floyd fought at 135.
You just didn't really follow Duran career to know how much of a beast he really was at LW.

Jro you overrate Duran the most on this forum. He was not this untouchable force. There isnt a fighter on Durans resume at 135 thats a better fighter then Floytd was at that weight. Period and you know that.

If SRL could beat him then floyd would beat him too!!!
SRL beat a fat Duran that didn't train properly, Leonard even says that the only reason he asked for a rematch immediatly after the first is because he knew he would spend the money on celebrating and wouldn't be in shape.
