Obviously Mayweather is odds on to beat Pacquiao but what happens IF Mayweather was dominated or knocked out? I know alot of people are backing Mayweather bigtime at the moment, he seems of won alot of fans over last weekend.. Would this be a massive shock to you? I mean I've not seen many backing Pacquiao ever since Mosley was dominated. But seriously now, What happens if pacquiao did win? Does this hurt Mayweather's legacy in anyway? It seems it could be a massive shock to boxing fans if he did manage to pull it off as Mayweather has huge numbers backing him to win right now and some say even easier then Mosley..
Thoughts?
No flomos or pactards allowed.
after the beating he gets? noone would want to watch it
A beating would hurt the legacy some, I agree. Same goes to Pacquiao if he doesn't impose his will and is utterly outboxed the entire night without any shining moment. If either loses in a war then it's viable to rematch.
Of course it will. What the hell kind of question is that?
Will it mean Floyd is a bum? Absolutely not. Floyd has accomplished great things in boxing and will be an ATG.
Quite the opposite. Losing your 0 against a lesser opponent would. See Tyson / Douglas.
Someone has to lose.
Underdog losses can be written off as flukes. A loss to a peer is you being beaten by the better man.
floyd aint avenging shit...his ass would go back to retirement
Are you kidding me?!?!! That would be the perfect time for Floyd to switch up the persona to a somewhat likeable, newly-focused on destruction type of person and milk the rematch for all it's worth.
Not necessarily, but I do think losing your 'O' in your biggest test does.

Mayweather has built himself up so much it'll be a shock when and if anyone beats him. But I think if you look at it objectively it won't really be that world-shattering if Pacquiao does manage to beat him (even in dominating fashion). He has all the physical attributes to make Mayweather uncomfortable, and sometimes when a boxer is that physically gifted it can even substitute shaky technique (not that Manny has bad technique exactly, but he definitely comes up short in comparison to Floyd there).
Would it hurt Floyd's legacy? Of course, it will finally give us a clear view of his limitations and losing your biggest and most meaningful fight is never a good thing. But it won't shatter it or anything, he's achieved far too much to just be discarded to the overrated fighter pile after a loss to an all-time great like Pacman, even if it is a brutal one.
Also I don't think Pacquiao qualifies as an 'underdog' prior to this. He may not be the favourite but he's no longshot by any means.
I agree. Most come up short sometime in their careers (DLH,Hatton) so it wouldn't be a dramatic loss for Mayweather and let's say losing to the best is never a bad thing. I do think Pacquiao is getting highly underated at the moment though hence why i asked this question! Ever since Mosley was dominated it's almost like Pacquiao doesn't have a chance so maybe it would be huge shock if Mayweather lost the fight. A loss on his record vs Pacquiao would not do massive damage to his legacy imo.
Cotto ran....Clottey hid
at least he put Cotto on his ass
Floyd couldn't even drop a 108yr old Shane
Wow, you conveniently have an excuse for each one? And which did DLH do how come Pac couldn't drop him? He had IV's sticking out of his arm and you're telling me Pac couldn't even drop him? LOL what a joke.
Not necessarily, but I do think losing your 'O' in your biggest test does.
yep. I'm in Pac hating mode at the moment but let's all be honest, if Pac destroys Floyd, that's a huge monumental event for both. Unless Floyd were to avenge it (like Ali did with Frazier), it would be a HUGE detrimental hit to his legacy

floyd aint KOing shit...even against the last two dinosaurs that he's fought, he couldnt KO them
But Pac could? Pac hasn't KO'd anyone since Hatton and not a long time before that either. Couldn't KO a drained Cotto and couldn't KO a DLH with IV's sticking out of his arms.
after PAC beats down Floyd, they're gonna say Floyd was a bum...like they do all PAC victims
the congressman by brutal assault
the check casher by KO over the congressman

wtf that's a retarded question of course it hurts his legacy why wouldn't it? It's not like Duran getting beat by Hearns or Hagler when he's way over his natural weight class and they are natural 147 or 160 pounders. Both Floyd and Pac started small and Pac started even smaller so if he owned Floyd that would be a major hit to his legacy not to mention the fact that Floyd is in his prime so....
