a thread to put out some quick thoughts on fights you've recently watched.
--------------
was watching alvarez-cotto and i would love to see alvarez fight ortiz sometime in the future if ortiz moves up. both fighters are pretty similar. both are technically solid (maybe ortiz is a little bit more) and both have power and are good action fighters. i think these two have FOTY potential.
also rewatched mayweather-mosley and i have to say that floyd made a fan out of me. and it's not because he beat shane very convicingly (i already knew he'd win and he IS the best boxer today), it's because i noticed how humble he can be. he hasn't been doing that fake crying bullshit and just acted very professional after his victories (when he isn't provoked). i know his bad boy image is to draw attention but if he stayed with his humble side, he wouldn't get so much hate.
cintron vs mathysse and vs angulo & williams vs cheato... if cintron comes in this weekend with his boxing real sharp, williams may be in for trouble. but you never know what you gonna get with this crying nutcase. but it should be a hell of a fight.:boxing:

You're right, he wouldn't get so much hate, but nor would he do as well on his PPV numbers without the "bad boy" image. I think they should be careful as to how they move Alvarez. I think he has the tools to be very good, but if they move him too quickly, then they could ruin his career before it really gets started. Cotto hadn't faced a real opponent since 07 and that was at 135. So I don't want to take to much from this fight, but I did see a great deal of potential.
rewatched cotto-mosley. probably the most impressive cotto i've seen considering the opponent. cotto looked really fast and strong compared to post margarito cotto. shame there was no rematch because this was a good fight. actually, i wouldn't mind seeing a rematch now at this point in their careers.
