Its a race thing, look at the klitschos, no one in their country is harping about david haye knocking either of them out.
MAYWEATHER TOLD YA'LL ONCE, IF HE WAS WHITE, HE WOLD BE SECOND ONLY TO GOD.
This would make some kind of sense if America didn't support the following:
Roy Jones Jr.
Mike Tyson
Sugar Ray Leonard
George Foreman
Evander Holyfield
Marvin Hagler
Tommy Hearns
Manny Pacquiao
Oscar De La Hoya
Julio Cesar Chavez
Roberto Duran
Tito Trinidad
James Toney
Kobe Bryant
Michael Jordan
Magic Johnson
Lebron James
Emmit Smith
Adrien Peterson
Deon Sanders
Allen Iverson
Shaq
And that's just naming a few NON White folks that seemed to be pretty well embraced even after a few of them had some things happen in their personal lives that would destroy many careers.
If the Klitschko brothers were black and from America they would be far more popular but they still wouldn't be at a Tyson/Holyfield level because they're not all that entertaining. So does this mean America is more racist against Ukrainians than black people? It's all so convoluted.
Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of racist white people out there that hate Floyd because he's a black guy with a big mouth but that's a small percentage compared to how many people simply don't find him very entertaining inside the ring.
Oh and for the record, if you don't think Mike Tyson, Michael Jordon, Sugar Ray Leonard or a few of those other guys were hailed by America as "second only to god" in their day you must be 15 years old. Hell, Lebron is pretty much at that point right now. You should see the way people react when someone says Durant might end up better than him on message boards.
HE'S TALKING ABOUT ACTUALY SUPPORT, WE know alot of people love him here, but look at ricky hattons fans. Not even in the same league as mayweather, but they love hatton, even after he lost! Look at manny, his fans in the philipines love him, and support him 100% But mayweather just like ali fought in the olympics, and his country doesnt support him like they would say if he was white. Its a race thing, look at the klitschos, no one in tehir country is harping about david haye knocking either of them out.
MAYWEATHER TOLD YA'LL ONCE, IF HE WAS WHITE, HE WOLD BE SECOND ONLY TO GOD.
BS. a douche bag is a douche bag.
I like that video were he says the Brits give him more support than his own country, lol. Then he talking about possibly having a fight over here. Think he trying to take over that Hatton gold mine to be honest lol. He does have a big fanbase over here though.
I think Americans support plenty of fighters, they just don't support Floyd enough to make his ego feel satisfied.
Maybe if he wasn't an arrogent douche bag maybe more Americans would be inclined to support him.
I think he has a valid point. If he were a UK fighter he'd be loved like no other.
If he was a uk fighter he will be disowned by his own people for being an arrogant prick. LOL. how will expect someone will support you when you always saying that "i don't care for the fans, they don't pay my bills. I only fight for floyd mayweather." etc... And always keep talking about the money you made. lol.
Americans support Americans they like or find entertaining. NOT just any American. Floyd positioned himself as the Villain and he's gonna act surprised that people don't like him? Come on, man!
Fact is that for the most part Americans want to see Americans do well. It's why the heavyweight division is shit right now and very talented foreigners in the NBA will never reach Kobe, Lebron, Iverson, Shaq levels... ever. Manny crossed over. It's a very rare situation.
You know what's even more rare? That a talent like Floyd can be so grating and involved in so many boring fights that Americans reject him. All he cares about is money anyway so why's he worried about support at this stage in the game?
(For the record, I don't think he was boring the other night. He was ****ing fantastic for the first time in years and I appreciate that he finally gave the public something to be impressed about in his welterweight career.)
Starts at 1:50.
Do you agree with his statement about Americans not supporting their own as other countries do?
yes i completely agree with this statement. all other countries are always 100% behind their athletes. but america for some reason always likes to jump on the bandwagon of people from other countries. i have noticed this throughout my life.
Americans supported Oscar, Tyson, Ali, Holyfield etc..
They don't support Mayweather cuz' they know a fraud when they see one.
Other Frauds:
- ODLH
- Hatton
- SSM
- JMM
- Gatti
- Judah
- Baldomir
- corrales
- Castillo
- Hernandez
and anyone floyd evr fought are frauds.................
Indeed. UK fans are amazing. The soccer games the have over there are flat out epic.
I'm a big fan of both boxing and soccer, and you're absolutely right.
BTW, I'm not a Liverpool fan.....so please don't Red K me. :lol1:
Man, if he was a UK fighter, there would be riots outside the arenas. Every Mayweather fight would be a World Cup final, a Super Bowl, an NBA Finals Game 7.
Indeed. UK fans are amazing. The soccer games the have over there are flat out epic.
i'm white and american and support him too but honestly there's a reason he's not supported it's the way he acts period.
Yup. And he knows it.
Him making this comment just pisses people off even more. Stop your act and maybe people will become fans of you...
Also, I'm white and I support Floyd. I've paid for part of or all of the PPV in his last 3 fights. He should know being "money" that's where the support is. If he truly cares about the country supporting him maybe he should shut up about the money aspect for 2 seconds..
I'm white an American, and I support him. But I also like Manny Pacquiao, aren't I allowed to like both? I'd favor Mayweather Jr. over Pacquiao because of Mayweathers defensive skills.
