Would you rank him higher on a ATG list than these fighters? If so which ones and why?
-Rocky Marciano
-Jake Lamotta
-Julio Cesar Chavez
-Wilfredo Benitez
How can you say he's better if you havent watched him.
I didn't. I said Floyd is better than everyone listed other than LaMotta because I can't say anything about LaMotta because I haven't watched him
I think Marciano is a close one in terms of legacy, as hes the only HW champion (legit) to retire undefeated, and he faced everyone in his era notching up decent wins against Ezzard Charles, Archie Moore, Jersey Joe Walcott, Roland Lastarza, Joe Louis.
A decent set of opponents and he did it while being small than all but Archie Moore (but they both weighed 188) he was slow, cumbersome, easy to hit with a tiny reach and achieved ALOT. By all accounts he should have lost ALOT of fights.
You could make a case for JCC, I mean he also has a really good resume and went undefeated for 90 fights. Names (that i can remember) include Roger Mayweather, Juan laporte, Edwin Rosario, Frankie Randall, Jose Ramirez, Meldrick Taylor, Greg Haugen, Hector Camacho, Pernell Whittaker (draw but really should be a loss)
In terms of legacy I'd rate Marciano and JCC above him, but he has time to surpass both of them. He's clearly the better boxer with more talent though.

Nah. All those guys would give Floyd a beating.
He was heavyweight champion of the world from 1952 to 1955, and went 49-0. He was an exciting fighter who KOed most of his opponents - two of his fights were selected as "Fight of the Year".
Like Floyd, some of his opponents were older, although most were not. But he defeated his oldest opponent Jersey Joe Walcott (same age as Shane) more impressively by KO.
Rocky was a small HW, and virtually all of his opponents were taller and had a reach advantage. It was amazing that he achieved so much with a 67" reach and much shorter arms than Mayweather.
yeah i know all this, who has he beat though? old ass joe louis? the walcott win was good but thats his only good win on his record. he fought 43 bums and 6 decent opponents, most of them were over the hill.
I haven't watched a lot of LaMotta. He's better than everyone else listed though.
lamotta is way overrated, just because he beat robinson when he was about 20 pounds heavier
the guy is a very one-dimensional fighter, he at times had decent head movement, but overall very overrated, floyd would pummel him, badly
Why???????
I just haven't...my boxing knowledge is pretty much from the early 80's until now...and major heavyweight fights in the 70's(Ali, Frazier, Norton, Foreman, etc.)
They were boxing wayyy before me so I can't really judge how significant a win may have been at the time without jus reading BoxRec...
Benitez...Benitez did beat Duran(not the best Duran), Cervantes, and Palomino but Floyd has gone up to multiple weightclasses and dominated against good opposition...
I think he would beat JCC and Benitez...Benitez would be a close defensive snorefest probably unless Floyd changed his style up...
Haven't watched much of Marciano or LaMotta, so idk...
Why???????
The talk of who is greater is a tough debate because of eras weight classes and other circumstances. I think Floyd is a ATG. Wherever he is rated among the others isn't important to me.
