Floyd is very long.
Arm Length means more than Reach IMO, and Shane's arms, and I think of Shane as someone who's arms are somewhat long, are 23 and a half inches. Floyd's are 26.
Floyd's length gives him such a huge advantage. It makes him, as skilled as he is, so much more dangerous. There were so many right hands where when I saw him start to throw it I was thinking "That's gonna be short" and it landed perfectly. It's like he's got an extra inch or two on his punches that I just don't expect to be there.
Anyone else see this?
I know Floyd has long arms, but I saw that as a BIG difference last night.
yeah i was wondering about that that. i don't know if i trust those numbers though, i've always thought floyd's arms were just a little bit longer than shane's. not 3 inches longer.
Floyd was born with basically a perfect boxing body, his length is huge and he knows exactly how to use it even against taller guys. What is kind of sick is that should hurt him when he gets in close but he shortens up his shots perfectly.
Nazim Richardson was right about floyd mayweather. He started sprouting wings and turned into a dragon, then started throwing fireballs...Floyd's wingspan is incredible, a truly thoroughbred that came from a generation of boxing. it's in his genes, those long arms love tapped shane's face like me love you long time.
Shanes arms are longer, that was atype. Someone post the weigh in pictur.
Nah man, they definitely aren't. If there was any question about the graphic they showed, it was evident in the fight.
There were so many times I thought Floyd was so out of range of landing a punch and he did. His length seriously shocked me.
Reach = wingspan. Unless you're completely turned sideways when you're punching, it doesn't really help you. Arm length is more important and Floyd uses it perfectly. He is able to jab like a big man and put sting on that jab while leaning back. It is a dominant jab, I just wonder why he so rarely often used it until his comeback.
His reach from fingertip to fingertip is longer but his arm length is shorter. Shane reads too much boxrec.
Yeah i thought so, it always looked like Mosley had short arms for a taller guy and i thought that looked odd, especially when Mosley mentioned he had longer reach... this explains alot.
Cheers
Didn't Shane say his arms were longer than Floyd's? lolHis reach from fingertip to fingertip is longer but his arm length is shorter. Shane reads too much boxrec.
Didn't Shane say his arms were longer than Floyd's? lol
He did. And he was wrong. Shane's reach is longer but not his arms. There is a difference, and IMO, it was a big one.
I think more so then his reach is his punch placement and accuracy. He measures his shots in his head. He doesnt even have to stick a jab out to do so. Very sick stuff.
Yes, his reach is quite incredible but what really surprised me was the strength of his arms. When Floyd was in trouble in the 2nd, he kept on clinching, what people see as a sign of survival mode I saw as a sign of intelligence. Floyd using his arms to clinch and press down on Mosley so Mosley would use all his strength just to get Floyd off of him. Then when Mosley would go to hit Floyd, most of his power was gone.
