Just as i suspected, shane is past it & couldnt pull the trigger. Just as i suspected, a physically & mentally shot margarito made shane better than he actually is.
After a couple rounds of looking good shane completely dropped off in his aggression, workrate, & stamina. Its the classic example of a old shot fighter fighting an elite fighter.
See:
Joe Calzaghe vs Bernard Hopkins - after doing well in the first half of the fight knocking down calzaghe, the 2nd half of the fight everything slowed down for hopkins & he had to be relegated to faking injuries just to stave off a slapper. He was 43.
Joe Calzaghe vs Roy JOnes jr. - after doing well the first couple rounds & also knocking down Calzaghe, jones fell off the cliff. everything went down. his aggression, activity, strength, stamina went down hill. He went into a defensive shell & laid on the ropes the rest of the fight. He was 39.
Manny Pacquiao vs Oscar Hoya - after having life in the first couple of rounds, he was cooked & done. He laid on the ropes & couldnt pull the trigger anymore. Everything shut down. He was 35.
Now lets go to Shane vs Floyd. He was doing great the first couple of rounds, hurting floyd & almost knocking him down then the 2nd half of the fight he completely gassed. The physicall toll of not having fought took over his body. He was gassed by the 5th-6th round. He was just in a defensive shell the rest of the fight. Even that round that he hurt floyd in he couldnt finish him off because he already blew his load the first half of the round.
See Joel Casamayor vs Santa Cruz. Santa Cruz was off over a year & it showed in the fight. He should have never been outboxed by a slugging plodder like santa cruz. He was 37.
In conclusion, the common denominator all the fighters i have described is that they are all way past prime & their age & similar fate in the ring vs a younger fighters proved it. They couldnt pull the trigger because they were past prime & shot.
It is a very good win for floyd. Not a great one. It says a lot about Floyd's career that his best win came against a 39 year old fighter who hasnt fought in over a year & a half.

why is this called an EXCUSE when theres FACTS and good examples of past fights given?!? :ugh:.....good post my dude!!.....I think some cats see this as takin' credit from Floyd instead of keepin' it REAL!!.....love is blind :lol1:
he'll get no credit, no matter who he beats....
whoever he fights, there'll be excuses.
before, it was, "he only fights smaller fighters. he should fight a WW who's his size."
he comes out and destroys shane mosley, the #1 ranked WW in the world may I add, then it's "shane is old and shot."
pacquiao is already making excuses about the blood testing, saying he'll be at a disadvantage b/c mayweather is bigger....lolz. this is the same guy who just fought cotto and clottey. :nonono:
IMO, floyd beats the shit outta manny, then once again, he'll be seen as "picking on a smalller fighter."
some dudes will just never be satisfied, no matter who he beats. name a fighter, i can come up with an excuse off the top of my head, that ppl will use if may beats him.
like stevie forbes said, in the hood, we call dudes like you "haters."
// thread.
shane probably beats every other WW.
// thread.
you obviously don't know what // thread means.

People beat SSM when SSM was in his prime and on roids, so of course PBF wont get any credit for fighting SSM.
But that is no problem, because PBF knows the score. PBF knows no one gives him credit no matter what, so its no problem to point to the fact SSM was past it.
If PBF wants credit, he knows what hes got to do. Simple as.
Team Mayweathers knew this stamina problem will slow Shane in the fight. This was their icing on the puding. Floyd will never fight fair. This was Floyd and team trademark. :boxing:
The whole lead up to the Mayweather fight was possibly one of the worst preparations in the history of the sport for a fight of that magnitude. I said before the fight was signed that Mosley needed a tune up before facing Mayweather, they should have replaced Berto with another boxer, just to keep Shane active, and pushed the Floyd fight back a few months.
Mosley got hit a fair few times in the Margarito fight, but because he was properly conditioned and prepared it didn't have a great effect on him for the most part. Against Mayweather, Mosley's conditioning was very poor indeed due to a combination of factors: 15 months out the ring, 2 training camps back to back with no tune up replacement when the Berto fight fell thru (=over trained), nearly 40 years old, and stepping in the ring with one of the best in the sport. Very bad combination imo.
However, if age hasn't fully caught up to Mosley by now, there is a possibility that he could make a dramatic underdog comeback like he did against Margarito. Assuming he doesn't retire, he'll need to stay active and fight again fairly soon.
Sure, I agree that Shane did seem to suffer from age related stamina/reticence to throw after the second but I still give credit to Floyd for taking the fight and winning it in such style.
People have to realise that Floyd is fighting for legacy and that isn't a one fight deal. Shane is one of the clean-up fights. The big ones will be Pac (for dominance) and Williams (due to the perceived threat level).
Then a few young prime fighters (a la Berto) and there we have a big finish to a top career.
Then history shuffles him in it's esteem.
this is pathetic..shane could pull the trigger...he was afraid to cause of the counters coming his way
What's more pathetic is constantly nuthugging a fighter...
---------------------------------------
I've been questioning Shane's stamina even before and the fact that he is old enough already and a very long inactivity in the ring, i really never give it a thought Shane will have a good chance of beating floyd.
He is just there for the payday and he was in luck it happened. I like Shane as a boxer even before and i'm saying this not as a diss to him but it's the reality.
That's why my constant comment before the fight is just show me one flush shot on floyd and he did. Gotta love the man for that, he never failed to deliver.
mosley fought old......it is what it is
smh.....
he fought old because he's old.
What shane is pretending to be 39 years old & 1 year & 5months removed from his last fight & faking to be gassed by the 4th round?
floyd outboxed him plain and simple. He landed nearly everything he threw. If he wasn't punching he was feinting Shane into knots, watch the fight again and notice that when Shane looks like he is edging up to throw a left Mayweather moves his right glove up to check it before he can get it off. Floyd was able to read Shane and he switched up his punches so he landed nearly everything
why dont you dispute the opening post burner?
im not burner, nor did i read the post but ill say this..
it wasnt that mosley couldnt pull the trigger, it was that floyd didnt allow him to throw the trigger. shane didnt look old to me, he was just in there with a faster guy for the first time in his career and it clearly bothered him. but like roger may says "speed aint shit if u dont know hot to use it", floyd used his speed very intelligently. floyds skills and his boxing IQ was too much for shane, boxing is a chess match and from the third forward floyd was a couple of steps ahead at all times blocking shanes every move. anytime u throw a punch u leave an opening, floyd adjusted and shane couldnt hit shit. anytime he threw punches he just got caught so he stopped throwing, i think mentally he wasnt prepared for floyds punching power eighter.
when he fought vernon and winky the first time he reacted the same way once they started outsmarting him, has nothing to do with his age. but haters gon hate.
does anyone think berto could have beaten the mosley that fought last night, berto is very quick but obviously he isnt as good defensively.
i think it would have been a good fight because mosley wouldnt have been as afraid to throw, berto's chin isnt as good as mayweathers either. i think it could be interesting
Mosley's not shot, he was ready and could of beaten anyone else out there last night. The only problem he had was the man in front of him. Mayweather didn't let him do anything. It's amazing how people get on here saying this or that guy is a bum after Floyd beats em. Last Night proved to me that theres nothing wrong with the opposition, Floyd's just that much better than anyone we've ever seen. Theres a history Zab couldn't get off, Oscar couldn't, Hatton couldn't, Marquez couldn't, Mosley couldn't neither has anyone they put in front of him. By most peoples standards only Emmanuel Burton was primed and ready for Floyd.
Please, show me proof that I thought this fight was 50/50 ? Reason I'm asking is because you said all PAC fans thought this fight was gonna be competitive.
nobody thought this was a 50/50 fight. las vegas odds prove this.
Pac boys woke up and drank a tall glass of haterade this morning. Pre-fight this was 50/50 fight but now Shane is washed up. Floyd TKO's Manny
50/50? by who?
this fight was a forgone conclusion & the vegas odds for the fight proves that. floyd was what 3-1, 4-1 odds?
I skipped the haterade this morning and had some Hata flakes for breakfast instead...
lol
i had a grandslam hata omelet from waffle house.
