I was wondering what everyone thinks since floyd supposedly retired and lost the P4P #1 slot then came back, should he still be considered the P4P #1? What are your thoughts on this. Please guys and gals, keep this thread hate-free. I wanna know some good points and good debates with actual sweet science knowledge.
DLH and hatton had already been beaten by floyd. pac all left overs.
DLH and Hatton, floyds leftovers
Cotto, Margs leftover
Clottey, Cottos left over
Wow! By your logic you clearly admitted that Mosley is also Cotto's left over. and so the like of Baldomir and many more who has some loses before Floyd got to them right?

I think if Floyd wins over Mosley he should get the top spot,And so does Mosley.
Now the question is If Floyd loses to Mosley and vice versa should they be removed from the P4P list.
if floyd loses to shane, floyd will be lucky to make my top 30 list

well even Bert sugar who seems to love Manny says if Floyd wins in impressive fashion he should be P4P no one again. Bert seems pretty unbiased regarding Floyd and Pac anyway P4P lists are subjective your list could look very much different to mine. For me a win over Mosley is better than wins over declining Cotto, shot Hatton, and punching bag clottey

I think I fit in to the majority when I say if Floyd wins in impressive fashion he will resume his rightful place as pound for pound best fighter in the sport

shane is a great win for floyd, not denying that.
but those who rates floyd over pac cause of a win against shane and marquez needs to get his head checked.

i am getting high and i am a retard, thats why i agree with the threadstarter, lol, nyahahahahahaha
my predictions is a bazooka wil pop outta floyds ass and floyd will shoot his way to victory, like a soldier he is, , lol, nyahahahahahahaha, floyd takes this fight most definately
That's your personal opinion mine may be different but at least I know how to respect the TS's wishes. He asked for no flaming and hate in his thread. I wish you pac fanatics could read and follow that.
rating floyd over pac is wrong with a win over shane... that's not an opinion. that's a fact.
it would take a massive form of nuthuggery for it to be enough to overtake floyd.

Floyd retired in boxing for almost two years doing nothing to help him gain back his no.1 spot. Its unfair to other people like Pac fighting the likes of Oscar and Hatton while he enjoying his retirement. Suddenly he came back fighting the old past his prime JMM 2 class above of his natural weight giving Floyd all the advantages. JMM already beaten by Pac twice in very close fight that can go either way. First if not for the judge admitted scoring error and second because of the knockdown. Now he is fighting the 38 years old Shane with almost 2 years lay off in boxing who beaten by Cotto who destroyed by Pac. Pac also did much much better to Oscar (Pac with just one fight at lightweight moved up another two weight classes just to fight Oscar) and Hatton (Pac fought Hatton on his own weight class where he was undefeated then) than Floyd plus he retired them for good. Beating Shane will do nothing to get his title back from Pac. Shane is good but Pac has to lose, retired or Floyd beat him at this moment for Floyd to be no.1 p4p again.
People forget that PBF is not exactly a spring chicken himself
anyone who would rank mayweather above pacquiao right now is an idiot.
mayweather shouldn't even be #2 right now. that's a very generous ranking given to him because of his past resume and skills and not any accomplishment whatsoever recently.
exactomundo
I always assumed p4p was based more off of a fighters skills and not his accomplishments. Perfect example is Chad Dawson, he's rank 8 p4p. But what the hell has he done beside fight old man after old man and only relinquishes his title belt? I personally think he got the rank because he's easily the most skilled LHW even tho he hasn't done much.
Pacman only recently accomplished more titles at more weights than Floyd. Yet Mayweather was an undefeated Olympic Champion since 1999. And up until he retired he was number 1 p4p.
He retired, Pacman Jumped liked 15 weight classes and fought the "Biggest" names at the weights. Well since Floyd retired, Pacman number 1 by default now regardless who he fought. Just so happens he fights oppenents Floyd already beat. But he did prove himself against Cotto..
So now Pacman beat every1 and is easily miles above anybody else on the list and solidifies his spot. But Floyd comes back, beats the p4p number 2 and arguably the last man to beat Pacman and claims the number 2 spot. Which I agree with since Pacman eaned his spot while Floyd was gone.
But I personally think they are both neck n neck for the 1st place spot. Ring Magazine jus isnt trying to be ****ed up n Take Pacman's title that he earned and he just keep winning anyway. But now that Floyd is fighting another p4p his actual weight class, I think that if he wins atleast by a good UD that he take's Pacman's spot.. And The only way Pacman can get it back is if he beats Mayweather or Pwill.
alfonso gomez beat the last man to arguably beat floyd(castillo) so my vote goes to him. since you say floyd beat marquez you obviously don't factor in weight when analyzing fights and either will i when saying gomez beat castillo.
P4P ranking is based more on skill than on accomplishment. What matters often isn't who you beat but how you look beating them. If Floyd beats Mosley as decisively as Pacquiao has been beating recent opponents then he deserves the #1 spot. However if he beats Mosley in a close, competitive match then Pacquiao should retain his P4P #1 status. But even if Mayweather doesn't become #1 P4P, a win over Mosley should make him #1 in the welterweight division (since rankings within a division are based less on skill and have more of a "king of the hill" system).
Before Floyd retired, Floyd and Pac were head to head for P4P #1. They only gave it to Floyd because he was the more skilled fighter. I think he would have lost his P4P crown to Pac anyway even if he didn't retire. Many people including myself believe he wasn't fighting good enough oppisition. PAC pretty much did the impossible for the last 2 years.

Regardless of their ages Marquez was rated #2 p4p when they fought...and Shane IS rated #3 p4p...so i really don't see how Floyd wouldn't be considered #1 if he wins tomorrow
cause he didn't beat the number 1?
manny has to lose before floyd takes it.
mosley and jmm is not enough.....
no respectable analyst would rate floyd over pac if floyd wins
