Think about it?.. Floyd does all the razzle dazzle bullcr*p with his shoulder roll and danceing and cr*p.. why the hell dont fighters just rip the left hook to the body(yes Floyd will block) and then over hand right his face/head.
Did you see in the video that Shane was training using the overhand right.

I hear you, but Floyd seems to be susceptible to looping or arched right hands to the head. He does get hit with them at times, more than with any other head shot I would say. In particulat I can't remember a straight right landing.
well he rolls straight rights, looping rights are harder to roll but easier to see and unlikely to land clean. the straight right i was reffering to wasnt to be thrown to the head but to the body, thats where most punches should be aimed at against floyd.
the only punch u should consistently throw to the head is the jab, feint behind the jab and dig to the ribcage. slow him down rack up points, trying to crack his dome with any single punch is only gonna get u counterpunched to death.
the key is the jab, feints and combinations focusing on speed not power. shane needs to let his hands go, if he loads up floyd will not just beat him but destroy him. if shane throws punches in bunches without getting wreckless he has a great chance.
floyd just hasn't been in the ring with somebody that will make it happen like shane will. I been saying it for years that should roll don't protect a right to the temple. It may take some off the punch b/c he rolling the punch but it will land.
because its the punch floyd sees most easily, evades most easily and counters best?
because its a punch that has virtually no chance of landing meanwhile leaving u open to get countered with everything but the time keepers bell?
floyd could..
- block the hook then throw a short right uppercut. meanwhile blocking your right with his left hand
- roll the right and counter with a right uppercut/straight right hand
- weave/duck the overhand right and throw a liver shot.
- go under and over
- beat u to the punch with a jab, then throw a straight right
and so on, the options are endless. the right hand is the punch most easy to counter, a overhand is the slowest way to get to the target with your right hand. fighters who keep their left hand low at the top level are mainly focusing on their oponents right bcuz it it the easiet punch to counter, holding the left low to encourage them to throw it.
if u are gonna throw a right to floyd its gonna be eighter straight to the heart/solar plexus area or around the elbow to the rib cage. dont throw that right to his head, he will beat your ass. use the jab to the head, hook of it to the head or throw a hook to the head behind a right hand bodyshot. dont throw right hands to the head, especially not looping right hands.

I think that part of the reason is that with the rolling he can really set you up if you are not the one landing clean. That's why you don't see it that often.

Well he does get caught twice before he made that adjustment.

Mayweather doesn't make the same mistake again. It's easy to tell Floyd is thinking about it :lol1:

Remember though in the first right hand Marquez caught him with Floyd caught him with a hard hook in the seconds before. Shows how fast Floyd is with his counters that he countered a shot before it even landed.

good observation!
gotta pop floyd w/ the hook to the shoulder or an uppercut when he's ducking to straighten him up then come w/ the right hand.
I advise you to double and triple up on the hooks so while floyd is thinking about the left hooks, he won't see the right hand coming.
Marquez landed those two right hands because Floyd was rusty. Floyd waited too long on Marquez to make a move and got caught before he could slide to his left wich was marquez's right. Remember after the second right hand he didn't land another. Just ring rust thats all it was. Floyd will not and I repeat will not make that mistake against Mosley. He will stay in the middle of the ring. He also will be sharper for this fight.
You know what time it is.
That first right hand Marquez landed was HELLACIOUS! A few rounds later Marquez tried to land it again, but Floyd was better prepared for it and actually landed a counter shot of his own.
After that Marquez's entire offensive arsenal was stripped away and removed from the fight.
floyd has been caught with right hands, and jmm caught him with and overhand right in the 2nd and third round, and he landed a right hook on floyd in the 4th round--all times, floyd was on the rope---that's what shane needs to time--coz floyd eventually figured it out in the jmm, but shane hits harder and with more force---so he needs to focus some on that--and chop chop caught floyd with a right hook---floyd can be caught, has been caught before--shane needs to feint a lot more than he has even in his career---jmm is a counterpuncher, so he feints more----shane isnt---hopefully he'll feint more in this fight--he'll have to---coz floyd damn sure will feint---he has amazing balance---so it works against floyd, trust me---oscar landed an overhand right against floyd in rounds 11 and i believe 6---because he feinted---and floyd was on the ropes---
You are right that its not as simple as throwing the left hook to the body...but if you rough him up and man handle him to the ropes and land it, believe me he will feel it.

Jesus Chavez also found alot of success landing that punch, as did Corley. I think it's much easier for a shorter fighter to land it, Pacquiao would come from under with it.
It's not as simple as just banging the left hook to the body and throwing the overhand right.
Feinting is probably the most effective way, but you can expect to be countered if your not fast enough.
Marquez landed two big right hands in that fight. Both times the right hand was setup by multiple feints, and they were both against the ropes.
Floyd does get hit, but Mosley will have to be as patient as a tortoise.
