Boxing in 3D, What do you think?

There where a lot of scene's in Avatar that where out of focus in the cinema that i was in and it seemed to have a few depth of field issues, what is the sky sports setup like? i had seen a few pubs doing it but wasnt sure if the quality would be that good. Would be cool to see sky do Haye's next fight in 3D although i would probably go and see it live. It's hard to explain how it is. Personally I thought it was really good. Actually better than the 3D in Avatar due to the nature of the action (in this case Football.) I would say though, that you have to be standing up and looking dead-on at the TV, if you're watching the TV sitting down at a bit of an angle it can get blurry. So in terms of housing hundreds of punters watching one screen it might get shite if you're tucked in some corner somewhere. Me and my mates were the only people watching the 3D Screen and just standing infront of it and it was brilliant. Then again Chelsea raped stoke 7-0 so spirits were high. The main thing is just that sense of distance you get. It'd be even more apparent in boxing when it is just two men and not 22 and the camera would be a lot closer to the action. The only slight problem with the Footie at least is that the camera was a bit too low so the action was too pitchside, but in boxing that is exactly what you want. Liverpool vs Chelsea on Sunday in 3D have a butchers.

ESPN will be the first to do it as they have all the equipment in place and are in the works in having major sports in 3D. I say by next year we will have boxingn in 3D. Sky Sports already do Football in 3D, they could do it at any domestic British card they want but it would be anti-climatic. Over here, thousands of pubs have the 3D licence. You go in, pay £2 deposit for the glasses then give them back when you're done. Haye-Klitschko would be perfect for a first time 3D fight but then again I don't know about the legalities of everything. Though Haye's fights will almost certainly be on Sky Sports Box Office for the forseeable future.

seriously, that's great idea. i mean, people who haven't boxed don't know how difficult to keep distance and utilize it in boxing.that would make them realize being a boxer are way difficult than they think.

sky sports already have the special 3D cameras, they just need to take them to a boxing event. They should do it for David Haye's next fight.

i been thought of this. i made a thread about it a few months ago after i saw avatar.

I have recently watched a few football (Global) games in 3D and it is great. To be, honest my expectations weren't high but it really was amazing, you got a better sense of distance between players that basically made the game 'more real.' In boxing this greater sense of distance you get whilst watching would completely change the way we view it. We'd have a great appreciation for defensive fighters who evade shots, fighters who control distance perfectly, fighters who intelligently close distance when cutting off the ring. Boxing in 3D would be absolutely brilliant, imo. Thoughts? Though I don't know how many of you guys have watched a sporting event in 3D, could make this thread a bit redundant. it is already exist. don't you know fight night series?
