People are already using Mosley's layoff as an excuse. But Mayweather vs. Marquez was actually a sparring session, does that really count? Then we're constantly hearing about Mosley's age, I understand that he's 38. But even at 38, he's the most respectable opponent (Not named Pacquiao) Mayweather can face at 147. A more credible opponent then Berto, Clottey, Collazo; all the other younger WWs out there. So in short, cut the excuses.
May the best man win.
The only people who do that are people who know they'll spark a crybaby retaliation thread like this one by doping so. Real boxing fans know Shane-Floyd is for the top spot at 147 and the winner deserves respect.
Chavez? No
Whitaker? Yes, although I didn't have him beating Whitaker. But because it could have gone either way, I give Oscar credit.
I thought Pernell beat ODH. I thought ODH beat Trinidad.
But yet people don't give credit to DLH's wins over Chavez and Whitaker?? Double standards.

Floyd Mayweather never under-prepares. That's the LAST reason I would think of. Especially since he was beating up on Marquez. What we're discussing here is his hesitancy in pulling the trigger - not sure how that has anything to do with not being prepared enough. That has everything to do with age and inactivity.
I think Floyd has had a problem with pulling the trigger for a few fights now. combos don't flow so freely. It's similar to what happened with Shane when he moved to 154 and threw one or two shots at a time.
Just rewtached floyd hatton last night. Funny lot of poeple say he looked slow. Lampley and Stewart were saying Hatton bought out the best in floyd. It was floyds best performance ever.
Well i thought Steward was right on the money when he said if HAtton tires it's all over because Floyd's mind is still sharp.......it was all cerebral in that fight.....the lead rights....the clinching the elbows....and the traps he set to lure Hatton into the check hooks he was throwing.....it took Floyd 7 rds to get into gear in that fight...his movement was much better late in the fight than in the beggining.
he is def slower.........i think burner made a thread about that a month or so ago....but it's quite clear......if you watch the gatti fight at 140.....he was lightning fast in that fight......i myself believe he has been on the decline speed wise since the Baldomir fight......i thought he beat ODLH and Hatton with his B level game...he didn't look as sharp in both fights as he did in the Baldo fight and i'm not convinced it was because of the oppossition.

Age, my friend! Age! Floyd is slowing down. First noticed it against Oscar. Boy, Saturday night is going to be very, very interesting.
Father time is the undefeated undisputed champion of the world!

See my post above - I completely agree.

you too i see......i just finished typing i thought he slowed after Baldo
Yup. And if you remember, right after the fight he said he sees that Lil Floyd is slowing down. Real talk. I remember Alton Merkerson said the same thing about Jones right before Tarver knocked him out.

Fair point! I think prpeparing and training is as big a factor as age and inactivity. He was still significantly faster than Marquez so I can't think of another reason why he wasn't throwing.

Big Floyd did not look impressed at all with Floyds performance against JMM......i trust his opinion the most.....he knows his son.....so i'm hoping him saying he likes wat he sees is not pre-fight talk and is actually true....because then this could turn into an epic fight.

I'm not saying marquez was. I'm saying floyd didn't prepare as he should. The only other plausible explanation (some of my boys believe this) is he didn't want to KO marquez and scare off manny. I think thats BS. I think he thought he could just come back. But you are both right, he looked different!

Good point. This is why this fight and the potential manny fight could be close.
I'm glad you noticed. You're very astute - I thought and still think the same thing.

I don't buy that for one second. Prepared for Marquez? The problem wasn't Marquez in that fight.
