I could not understand why so many picked Arreola, when that fight was made my initial reaction was that Adamek would win, however when i came on here i was shocked at how many people were picking Arreola, so much so that i started to question myself and think maybe im way off base here, here is was what i posted about the fight anyway.
I like Adamek because i think he will use his legs & speed to win a decision. Adamek has shown good speed and in and out Boxing lately, most notably against Golota,Estrada.
Im gonna say Adamek by decision, Arreola is not a huge puncher so i dont see him changing the fight with one punch it will be accumulation of punches that does it for him, however i think he will need Adamek to be a more stationary target to get off consistently, and the only way that is going to happen is if Adamek gets dragged into a war.
Dont get me wrong i dont blame anyone for picking Arreola but i was a bit shocked how lopsided opinion was for him to win

I went with Chris purely based on the weight difference.
And chris is a big ko artist, and I didn't think Adamek's chin would be strong.
Had they been the same weight I would have definitely picked adamek.

I keep say Arreola is wack. The guy punches so slow and he telegraphs his punches. Foot speed is horrible and doesn't really cut off the ring just follows you.
Man! look how one sided that poll is, that is what im talking about i dont blame anyone for picking Arreola but look how one sided that poll is.
Yep. Toney-Peter 2 had a similarly one sided poll, people were picking Toney to win by UD, but Peter schooled him. Lacy-Calzaghe was probably that way too in favour of Lacy. Hindsight is 20/20 as they say.
I dont think Adamek was hurt that much tbh, plus i thought he could! get hurt but that his chin was good enough to weather the best of it and that Arreola is not a particular big one punch merchant.
Adamek was indeed hurt when Chris landed those right bombs, like I said earlier if only Chris could of put a string of solid punches instead of just looking for one eraser he could easily dropped Adamek. What Adamek did correctly the times he got nailed was by instinct fight back and was able to land 2-3 punch combos on Arreola to back him off and keep him and check, he also moved well and tied up when it was necessary, I was very impressed with Adamek, he looked pretty fast for a HW.

:rofl: I was shocked as well
I picked Adamek way back when.....

i wanted adamek to win, but in my eyes arreola was the favorite, for the simple reasoning of "how is adamek going to deal with the pressure?"
any LHW or CW i would have picked adamek, BUT his chin at HW is good, but not as great as it was... and i was curious to see how the impact of punches from a 250 pound guy would hold up for him...
he did great, and his speed was huge for him, that too was something i wasnt factoring in, considering at CW and LHW his speed was OK... i guess the HWs are just that much slower...
im happy with the results though...
Adamek definitely did a good job of surviving when he got stunned or hurt, he clinched when he had to and punched when he had to. He showed his smarts in there. I'm inclined to believe Arreola about his hands though, he did seem to be less imposing after he hurt his left and definitely moreso after he hurt his right.
Agree.
I think Haye leans foward when looking for the right hand so a nice jab from range could break his rhythm, then when he is looking for the right spot to throw that could lead to him throwing it when he is not sure and leaving himself open to the point where Adamek could bring the right hand into play and catch him with the counter right, also i think doubling and tripling the jab would work a treat against Haye as he has a wide stance, which is okay to a degree, but Haye is also flat footed when in that posture and leaning foward a lot, he also likes to go straight back and only moves to the side when his back hits the ropes, i would also throw a double jab to his belly then explode the right hand over his low left, i would also jab to his chest and then throw the right hand, i think Haye is open to all kind of punches if you fight the right fight.
Haye does a good job of rolling away from right hand when he senses them coming but yeah, he is quite open for the jab, Ruiz hit him with quite a few jabs which isn't really a good sign.
I think Haye has longer arms than Adamek and has a good, quick jab himself when he uses it, he doesn't use it enough. My point is though, Adamek has to be careful to not jab from too far out, especially to the body because Haye can counter him over the top and Haye might be able to sense the right hand coming and get his off before Adamek can fire his, if they fire at or around the same time, Haye's will get there first.
I, too, was surprised at how little faith the majority of folks had in Tomek. Even his fans. Here's some stuff I posted before the fight and, besides Adamek's power not affecting Arreola as much as I thought it would, I had it pretty much spot on...
See I think Tomek's speed and power are very underrated. They're deceptively good qualities, and I think he can either choose to outbox the brawling Arreola or trade with him using sharp, fast combinations. Being the superior boxer, he should be able to dictate the pace on his terms unless he allows himself to get muscled over.
I think speed will be the key here. Arreola's kinda fast with his hands for a HW, but Adamek is faster and more accurate. Some of the shots with which he nailed Golota were quick as hell, and crushingly powerful. Then again, he has a bad habit of dropping his shoulders and elbows when he throws combos - Arreola squares 'em up properly and might get his shots off better as a result.
Thankfully, Adamek got his shots off better and faster all night along.

Falling short and being off balance is never a good thing, Adamek can definitely take advantage of Haye falling short with his right hand and being off balance, Haye is open at that moment for a counter right hand. But Haye is dangerous when he's in that position too because he's a quick guy, he still notices where his opponent is and when he thinks they are in range he throws a hook/uppercut almost out of a southpaw stance that his opponents don't see coming so Adamek would have to be careful.
Of course, Haye pushing Adamek back when Adamek doesn't want to go back would be a plus but he has to be careful about it, Adamek is a dangerous counterpuncher so Haye doesn't want to be falling off balance and even if he's not falling off balance he needs to keep his chin tucked and be wary of Adamek's right hand over the top of his low left.

I picked Arreola by mid to late KO, the times he landed those big right hands he had Adamek on spaghetti legs although he did hung in there and was able to shake off the cobwebs well, also the fact that each time he was hurt he threw back and never allowed Arreola to put a string of finishing touches when he had his man hurt, I was overall impressed with Adamek he fought a great fight. As far as Arreola hurting his hand, I don't know how much of that was a factor, he might have been exagerating a bit but nonetheless Adamak was dominant and I couldn't see Chris winning the fight except by a KO.

100% agree, particularly.............. Adamek is the more durable, tougher fighter out of the two which could prove to be the difference down the stretch.
How do you see Haye connecting if he reaches in with the big punches given that Adamek does go straight back occasionally, do you think he could make Haye fall short and that Haye could leave himself open or do you think it would be a positive for Haye as he would follow up and chase Adamek back, or dont you think there is anything in that?

I think many people (myself included) had it going down like that for good reason, just looking at rounds 3 to 6 (the only ones Arreola won imo). Adamek was unable to hurt Arreola with 2-3 flush shots and Adamek was getting hit by 1 punch in return and being hurt.
Adamek has a case for top 10 p4p imo right now though his gameplan was excellent, i was worried for him between rounds 3 to 6 but somehow he turned it back in his favor in rounds 7 onwards. Round 9 looked a bit dodgy again he got hurt because it was hard to keep everything Arreola threw off him, but then Arreola hurt his arm.
But basically what you saw from rounds 3-6 is why i think alot of people were picking Arreola, i expected first few rounds to Adamek then Arreola to be to strong later on.
Yeah i agree, it seemed Adamek was connecting more often with cleaner shots, but Arreola's shots were doing the most hurt.
Didnt really seem either fighter was hurt badly though during the fight though i thought.

I enjoyed the fight, i liked the it was abit of a see-saw fight with each fighter taking control for a few rounds, before the other guy would have his turn.
I saw it as a 50/50 fight to be honest, i had Adamek down for the win, but thought Arreola was going to take charge when he was having a good spell in the middle rounds.
Credit to Arreola for his post-fight interview. Nice to see a fighter gracious in defeat like that.
Yeah, Taylor still does it, just not as much as he used to.
Consistency, workrate, stamina and toughness. Haye's workrate isn't the highest and if Adamek can force the pace he might wear down Haye and I think Adamek is the more durable, tougher fighter out of the two which could prove to be the difference down the stretch.
Early on is definitely the most dangerous time of the fight for Adamek, he has a very solid chin but can he take Haye's shots repeatedly? I doubt it, he can maybe take 1 or 2 flush but once they start accumulating, he'll start feeling them.

I picked Arreola because Adamek wasn't entirely convincing against Estrada, he didn't look like he dealt with the size and power of Estrada too well, he also got winded towards the end of the fight, Arreola is like a bigger, stronger, more powerful version of Estrada so I went with Arreola but Adamek obviously learned from the Estrada fight and fought a smarter fight against Arreola.
I do wonder what would have happened had Arreola not hurt his hands though, according to Arreola he was basically a one handed fighter from the 5th round on and basically a handless fighter in the last round so it would be interesting if they have a rematch.

They probably thought Arreola would turn up in great shape considering the talk he had been doing. Arreola seemed to run out of stamina and hurt his hand late in the fight. Adamek was not totally convincing to me but I thought the troubles he had were more due to balance issues than Arreola badly hurting him. He is not used to fighting while constantly backing up but he did it quite well.
