I don't think people overrate Judah.
Zab - in his prime - was an underdog in every major fight he had. Ex-TaTa.
You would make Zab the underdog against Floyd, Oscar, Shane, Hatton, Pac, Cotto, etc, etc.
Well...at one point Zab looked more promising than he turned out to be. after dominating Micky Ward, Ward called him the best fighter on the planet that nobody could beat. Then of course the Pernell Whitaker with power descriptions. He's not more accomplished than Delahoya and very few would call him an all time great like I see with Oscar here.
*Pernell *Whitaker, Ike Quartey, *Fernando Vargas,
deserved a W over a roided up *Mosley.
*Whitaker- past prime. Many thought Oscar lost including CNN and ESPN.com
*Quartey- coming of 18 month layoff and looked vulnerable previous fight. Many scored the fight for Quartey. Another controversial win for Oscar
*Vargas- After swearing he would never fight Vargas, Oscar takes the fight after Vargas receives a beating from Trinidad and looks vulnerable against Wilfredo Riviera.
*Mosley-Decision could have gone to Oscar but it wasn't a dominating or even impressive performance. Oscar tired late and was hurt by body punches more than once.
he never won his biggest fights...tito, mosley 2x, hopkins, mayweather, pacquiao, for whatever reason he LOST those fights, he is not an all-time great fighter in my book, but an all-time cash cow for sure.....he was overrated to me
It's the same thing.
I don't put SRL-Macho on his record
Or RJJ-Bhop 2
Or Pryor's return
...or DLH-Pacquiao.
Dude, THEY put themselves in that list when they SIGN a fight contract.
Oscar and manny are
Cool,
Oscar in the last decade never beat somebody as good or a the first Barrera fight... Or as good as that version of Hatton or Cotto...
Hell I might rank David Diaz higher than Castillejo and Campas...
I would put Ledwaba and Clottey over that version of Mayorga and maybe that version of Vagas too...
i would put Hussein and Morales(2x) and the Barrera rematch over that version of Gatti and Forbes...
I am talking about the last decade. Since 2000. I am not talking about the Oscar in the 90's because he had a run... Because, I think he could of retire after the Tito lost and still be a HOF'er... So the Oscar in the 90's I won't say is overrated but the Oscar of the 2000's tremendously overrated... Who did he beat? An old Campas? Castillejo? a ruined Vargas? a ruined Mayorga? That is what he did in the whole decade. And, people still acting like he was a top fighter late in his career when he really wasn't...
now THIS i agree with!
I def agree with that. What I'm saying is that there's no shame in those losses.
Scratch Hopkins, because that fight shouldn't have happened. And the Pac fight was a travesty. A 36 year old Oscar had no business at 147.
You can't scratch Hopkins... no no no no no.... Hopkins pro debut was at LHW... He was a career MW... And, a big MW at that... Oscar fought Hopkins at a catch-weight of 157... If we going to shit on Pac for making Cotto come in 1lb less then what he usually does... Then Oscar can get a scratch.... Fuck that he lost that fight... No scartch, he didn't fight him at 160 it was at a catch-weight...
I gotta admit: I NEVER heard people say that until floyd said it in the post-fight.
In fact, Zab's rep was the opposite because of his late hurt on Cory in 1, and his late KO of Cory in 2
And, that because people don't really pay attention... He had examples in other fight like against Corley, Baldomir, even somewhat against Omar Weis... Even Mickey Ward gave him a good fight late in the fight... And, I think Judah later on said the hardest punch he ever got hit by was Ward hook to the body... But, there were examples before Floyd that suggested he was a front runner... But, nobody really caught up to that because everybody was amazed because of his potential.... Mentally he was weak, chin he was eh, I hear people calling him slick. When he is not... He just is flashy with quick hands....
People were saying (Max Kellerman especially) that he was Pernell Whitaker but with power... How is that not overrated?
I def agree with that. What I'm saying is that there's no shame in those losses.

No no no, scratch nothing. if he didn't want those fights to be "counted"he shouldn't have fought them in the first place.
Oscar did a lot of good for the sport, but personally, he didn't do jack shit on the past 7-8 years of his life, all he did was bring a lot of hype and lot of mexican ppv buyers.
Don't even mention the Tito fight cuz that was the last decade...

cant argue with that but you have to remember people rated him highly because he was still the face of boxing and he sold big major fights,if you question any hardcore boxing fan then they will probaly agree with you oscar past 2000 was overrated but not his whole career
judah fair enough but oscar i disagree,i rate him,he was a warrior and fought everyone and gave us some great fights.he lost some of his big fights on record but for met he whooped tito and got robbed,he beat mosley the second fight and got robbed and in the first fight he was probaly on peds so that dont count, loosing to b-hop was no shame because he was alot bigger and the loss to floyd came late in his career, oscar>>>overrated,no no no

Here is the thing with Zab... Everybody thought he had a chance to beat every elite fighter... I remember when Judah destroyed Cosme Rivera and people were saying he would beat Margarito... And, that was bullshit... For the majority of the decade people rated Judah highly... They always thought the majority of the decade that he was a top fighter. That all changed after Clottey... That majority of people realized that he was just a front runner and that was it... He was good for 4 rounds and crappy the rest.... It took awhile for people to realize that..

Pernell Whitaker, Ike Quartey, Fernando Vargas,
deserved a W over a roided up Mosley.
Do you deny that the TOP 6 fights of his life, he lost?
Trinidad, Hopkins, Shane Mosley x2, Floyd and Pacquiao.
Sorry, but those are the facts.
