He didn't get stripped. He voluntarily vacated it after Jennings turned him down.
Ok cool, then why did he let it go? What sense did that make? If he wasn't force to fight Jennings. Why let it go?
Yeah...he's gonna go back and fight someone whom he KTFO in one round after they beat him in a fight he took on two fricken weeks notice.
:pat:
It is nearly IMPOSSIBLE for a fighter to go from training for an orthodox, stationary power puncher to a slick southpaw two weeks before the fighting date and expect to be at anything more than 60%. Doesn't anyone find it ironic that both times Williams tried this, he had a rough time? Does anyone stop to think maybe he wasn't at his best in Quintana I or the Martinez fight?
The fact that he was able to keep up with Martinez on two weeks notice and make it a VERY close fight in that situation amazes me, personally.
Not true,
If Jennings was not pushing the mandatory. Williams would have not been stripped... Why would they strip him if the mandatoy is not pushing for the fight?

actually, jennings ducked williams and declined his mandatory shot against williams. Thats one of the reasons Skinny Pun just dropped his belt and moved up. Seriously, when your no-name mandos are ducking you, you might want to look in to other options. Which is what they did. BTW the next challenger in line after jennings was cotto, and cotto declined the offer to fight williams for the title as well. Hence why cotto and jennings ended up fighting each other when williams vacated.

Why couldn't he just keep busy with Quintana? He has such an easy time with Quintana in the rematch.
Or why couldn't he just have a keep busy fight with his mandatory Jennings? Or was Jennings too much of a risk to be a Keep busy fight?
I understand not trying to keep busy with Pavlik. But, to chose Kolle over Jennings? Unless Williams had trouble making 147 and didn't feel comfortable making it anymore. But, the Kolle fight was just absurd...
you're kidding, right? jennings aint a risk to any one. lol
He should of fought Quintana a third time instead of Kolle
Hell he should of fough his mandatory in Jennings instead of Kolle...
He really should of fought Pavlik instead of Kolle.
Fighting Kolle to me was a head scratcher. I just didn't get that move at all...

That is really a horrible way to look at it... Is just a horrible point...
With that logic there was no point in Pac fighting Ledwaba because Ledwaba doesn't matter right now...
Ask yourself in 2010 as of April 23rd.
Do they mattter?
They dont bro.
Lot of shit has changed.
Revisionists History is a horrible way to look at things. On that point maybe if Cintron doesnt pull out...he doesnt lose to Quintana.....he fights Marg again...never know what couldve happened.
But I know what has happened.
Williams is a Top 10 P4P Pounder.
Pavlik (maybe)
Koelle
Jennings
Quintana
Margarito
Are not.
Very...............
Quintana
Jennings
Koelle
and maybe even Pavlik all dont matter right now.

AAll that sounds good but at the end of the day his goal is to get WW's like Cotto, Berto, Floyd, Mosley, Cintron, whoever to sign contracts. That shit was never going to happen.
Shoulda, Coulda, Woulda my dude. Koelle, Quintana and Pavlik are most likely all irrelevant in 2010. Williams is a Top 10 fighter still alive and kicking.
He wanted BIG fights at WW. That wasnt going to happen and beating Jennings wasnt the key to getting Cotto or Floyd to sign a contract.
We all though that would happen when he beat Margarito. Instead a hot WW at time. Cintron ran scared. And the rest is history........
Why would Cotto, Berto, Floyd , Mosley, fight Williams if he didn't have a title? If he wanted the big fights at WW should he just kept his title to at least have some kind of a chance to get that big fight? Because, without a title he has ZERO chance to get it.
And, to be honest he should of rematch Margarito at the time instead of going for Cintron... Now at the time it was a good move... But, now looking back he should of rematched Margarito instead... Because, Margarito wanted that rematch at that time...
And, like I said looking back he should of fought Pavlik, When Kelly was undefeated and looking like a beast.... He would of gotten the glory that Hopkins got...
Fighting Jennings>Kolle is common sense... Because, he would of kept his belt...After Jennings he could of fought at 154 and 160 and still keep his WBO WW belt... And, anybody who wanted belt would have to go through him. If Cotto, Pac, or Clottey wanted the WBO would of had to beat him... Is that simple...
Now matter how you spin it makes no sense to fight Kolle. Because, he could of had his stay busy fight with Jennings and kill two birds with one stone...

I dont buy that. I read COUNTLESS article from Williams calling out Cotto. Cotto and Arum pretended the guy didnt exist.
I been following his career since he was fighting Bums in Cali and my boy told me about him. That was about 5 years ago.
Like really who gives a shit? Its 2010 Williams career is fine.
Bullshit, Cotto never ducked him... Who did he duck him for? Shane Mosley? Are we serious here...
Williams career might be fine now but it could of been better. He ****ed up out pricing himself and letting Pavlik fight Hopkins and by letting Cotto and Pacquiao get a belt that he should be having right now...
As a Paul Williams fan you should see how stupid that move was...
You missing the point. Goosen has several times that Williams demolition of Quintana scared the WW's even more. No point in doing it again. Williams was trying to move on to bigger and better things.
How is a good move to fight Jennings? How was a god move to stay at 147 at all? When it was CLEAR that the guys you wanted to fight were scared shitless of him?
Jennings is a BUM at 147.
Koelle is a BUM at 160.
He wanted Pavlik AT 160. So he took a stay busy AT 160.
Makes perfect sense.

There's no way i would i want to see Williams vs Quintana III after what Paul Williams did to him in the second fight. Was Roy ducking Griffin too after their second fight where he demolished him? Lets be honest man nobody in their right minds wanted Williams vs Quintana III everyone wants a Williams vs Martinez 2. I don't think Martinez is "ducking" Williams by fighting Margorito but that is sure a hell of a lot easier fight since Margorito just got his ass handed to him and we don't know what he has left not to mention we don't know how he is without his precious plasters.
Yeah like what kind of dumb ass logic is that. He ducked Quintana after arguably ruining the dude. Quintana aint been the same since that fight.
Burner does it turn you on to mercilessly defend Paul Williams on the internet?
You take it over the f*cking top.
I mean it's pathetic.
You'll never even meet him in real life or have met him.
Get off that ugly motherf*ckers nuts and stop posting so damm much.
You're on NSB defending Paul and Floyd 24/7.
It's pathetic.
Burner he could of cornered Cotto to fight for that title... Cotto wouldn't of have gotten that title for free... If you don't understand that was not a smart business move then I don't know what to tell you... And, matter of fact P-Will would of still been the WW WBO champ right now as we speak. With him making a run to be a 3 division champ at the same time... But, again it makes sense for him to fight Kolle instead of Jennings because he had trouble making wieght and was just done with 147...
And. I guess you haven't been following Williams career long enough. Because, at the time Arum and Pavlik was on board to fight P-Will. Arum first choice was Rubio that got turned down by HBO, and then they tried to get Green but G. Leon ****ed that up, then they tried to get Williams and it was Williams who outpriced himself out. And, then they went for Hopkins. And, Arum did NOT want Hopkins...
