Im on the fence on this one.
Part of me is saying Adamek was rushed into this fight vs. the much boigger real heavyweight with real power.
Then part of me think if Chris is sloppy and fat he could possibly have problems with Adameks speed and the fight could be a battle.
I think it will be entertaining fight since both guys have good offense and mediocre defense. I think Adamek can win the first half of the fight since he has as speed advantage and throws good combinations and can build up points but I'm not sure how effective his punches will be exactly and Arreola could start to impose himself in the second half of the fight so it should be interesting, I could really see any outcome happening.
Also, it seems some people are acting like Adamek is going to look like Minto in there or something. That's not the case. Here's a couple pics from the opening presser:

Remember, Arreola was fighting at 178 when he was 20 years old and blew up to 236 within a 2 year span. Meaning of course that a lot of his "size" is just excess fat. That's not to say I don't think he's the naturally larger man, he is and it could be the difference, I just don't think to the extent the numbers make it out to be.
I'm also surprised that Adamek is the better favorite. I would have thought that Arreola would be a 2:1 favorite, roughly.
Alot of people are underestimating Adamek. This fight is close and could go either way, almost 50/50. It should be a great fight for as long as it lasts.
It won't be a mismatch, both guys are too good for that. If Arreola comes in fat Adamek will outbox him, Arreola however has good handspeed for his size.
Haven't seen that fight yet, Estrada fight.
it shouldn't be a mismatch, im looking foward to a good heavyweight battle :boxing:
Please tell me how Arreola has a granite chin?
Getting his face ****ed constantly by the guy who, at the time, had the highest KO percentage in heavyweight history, and didn't go down.
Yeah, that's the reason.
Mismatch. This was the worst possibly choice of opponents for Adamek. He might control the early rounds with his skill, but eventually Arreola will catch him and destroy him brutally. Its not like Arreola is a slow paced fighter. He has pretty good handspeed despite his size, and he'll catch up to Adamek with his constant pressure and granite chin.

Nah. I think its going to be a good fight. Adamek is going to win a close decision.
Two things...
1. I've heard Arreola is in really good shape, so... bad news for Adamek.
2. Adamek is not a boxer by trade. He's more of an aggressive boxer-puncher who tries to put on pressure.
The slugger usually beats the pressure fighter because he is right in front of him for the big punches to land. Also, Adamek has a good chin, but let's not forget that light punching Cunningham had Adamek hurt pretty badly.
Adamek is the favorite and i think rightfully so.
I think he is p4p one of the best fighters in the world. His chin is GRANITE, but the fact that Arreolla is so much bigger might pose some problems
Adamek the favorite??? Arreola's gonna knock him out, no question. Adamek isn't made to battle with guys like Arreola.
This is great news to me. I'm going to put some money on Arreola right away.
This will be a war, there's really no other way I can see it. That's why I'm hard pressed to pick a winner. The questions to be answered are:
Can Adamek deal with Arreola's heavy pressure, power, output, and combinations?
Adamek is a calm and collected customer that's been in wars before, I can't see him just crumbling under Arreola's pressure. I can see Arreola's power, underrated output, and combinations being a huge problem though. We've seen Adamek hurt recently against Cunningham.
Can Arreola deal with Adamek's speed, lateral movement, body punching, and power?
Adamek didn't look as fast against Estrada as he did against Golota. Arreola got hit a lot by Chazz Witherspoon and knocked down by Walker so speed might be a problem. He handled McCline's speed pretty good though. Lateral movement will be Arreola's biggest problem, but he's seen it before. Vitali hit Arreola with a few body shots (but not as much as Adamek will), 300 punches in all, and kept coming so he has the chin. If he can take it to the body, he'll be looking pretty good.
I'm leaning slightly toward Arreola right now, because Arreola is confident and there's nothing Adamek can do that will keep Arreola from getting his in.
Mis-match bro.
I want Adamek to win but damn Arreola is one fat ****ing **** who can hit. And i have this feeling Adamek is going to get macho and regret it.
What Adamek's plan should be is to tire Arreola out by boxing, some body shots here and there and press the action by the 6th round on. By then, Arreola should be winded being out of shape and probably trying to chase Adamek. We'll see i could be wrong or be right.
only way tits loses is if he turns into jabba the hut (which is conceivable with that guy) and is immobile. no way is adamek going to stand up to tits bombs.
Adamek is the betting favorite? Didnt know that. Im shocked by that actually.
yea not by very much tho. the fight is as dead even as they come
Adamek -130
Arreola EVEN
Gmitruk and Adamek wanted this fight. They must have thought they could win. I am a bit worried since Gmitruk couldn't train him for this fight though, although Bloodworth and Shields are good trainers.
Estrada is underrated and has real good handspeed. Alot are saying Adamek has no power cuz he didn't drop Estrada but in over 300 Amateur fights and all pro fights Estrada has never been down so i don't think that's much of a knock against Adamek.
Thats true it did seem like Adamek and his team were pressing for this figt so maybe they know something we dont. I didnt know he had a different trainer for this fight.
Yeah I didnt expect Adamek to stop him. I was just expecting a more clear win even though I had him winning every round if that makes sense.

I think Adameks Estrada fight was telling. He was hit alot by a subpar Heavy. I hope he looks a little sharper so we can get an exciting heavyweight fight.

Yeah thats what has me question how good Adameks chin really is, but Adamek did move up in weight so maybe he was having hard time making 175?
I dont think he will take too many flush bombs from Chris. This dude is a 260 pounder with heavy hands.
Didn't Dawson drop him? Dawson isn't a very big puncher, although I guess you can argue that he could be deadly with punches you don't see coming.

Adamek will be victorious, unless Arreola competely traps him on the ropes and Adamek can't move and gts broken down. Other htan that, Adamek has a hell of a chin and good skills.
Wanna bet?
