The whole situation with the guy is horrible and tragic, and yes no one supports or approves of what he did to his wie nor himsef, but people here are really getting on my nerves with the keyboard hate they're spreading, get your facts straight then talk, Edwin Valero knew himself he needed help and thats why he admitted it in court and asked to be put in rehab, his country failed him because they didn't take his situation seriously, he was already asking for help, if they acted quickly and attended his mental needs they could've prevented a man killing his wife and himself and leaving his kids orphaned. The dude had alcohol problems and who knows if he was flurting drugs as well, and along side his rage and the fact that he was a borderline psyche patient wasn't a good combo. I put the blame on his country for not taking him serious. NO ONE in their right mind i think, would do a horrible thing like that.
I've read a lot of posts regarding the Edwin Valero case recently. The majority of them trash the guy; some defend him. But most seem to share one thing in common. Jennifer Viera, Valero's wife, is rarely ever the focus of peoples' sympathies. In fact, the kids are hardly focused on as victims, either. Nearly everyone here tends to concentrate on whether Valero was a horrible person or whether he was misunderstood. The true victims, in my mind, have become afterthoughts.
While I concur that there are things about the case we will never know, we do know that a young, beautiful woman died needlessly and two young children have been orphaned. I think we all agree that what Edwin Valero did -- or is believed to have done -- was terribly wrong. In my opinion, those who have chosen to give Valero the "benefit of the doubt" are simply choosing the opposite side. There is little question that Valero had demons racing around his tormented mind. But if the murder victim had been the defenders' mother, sister, aunt, girlfriend, I have no doubt that they would be a little less sympathetic to Edwin's perceived mental issues.
The way I see it, the people who are flaming Valero have at least some reason to. The people who have chosen to focus on his pain as the cause of all this tragedy are drawing conclusions that are ultimately irrelevant. A case could be made for every person who commits a heinous act. When defenseless people are killed and innocent children are condemned to a parentless life, the last thing one should focus on is the mental anguish of the murderer.
I agree 100% with you, i have family that have had issues similar to this, you sound like an intelligent person.
I have two relatives and they are way worst than Valero (as far as managing anger). People with severe mental issues like bi-polar are just walking time bomb....and they aren't on drugs so I can only imagine having that along with alchohol.
In all honestly, I know I bullsh1t and joke around on NSB a lot, but when it comes to this, I try not to make fun of issues like this.
hugo chavez let valero do whatever he wanted because valero was an international athlete that had hugo's face on his chest.
all you mofos should've known this ship was gonna crash when that mental case put hugo's face on his chest.
Wow, seriously, all of you need to take it down from an 11 to like a 4. Ultimately TS blames the government for not Valero not getting help, who knows if that would have changed anything or just delayed it. Others blame valero directly, others are still looking for someone to blame, but you all just need to chill the f*ck out on hating on each other.
Well that's just people showing a lack of class IMO. It's easy to get on the net and say things you would never say in real life....but I digress.
IMO, being that I have studied mental disorders, I can almost guarantee he had Bi-polar disorder (and It seem like a severe version at that). Combine that with cocaine and alcohol addiction and it's not shocking that he acted like this. I have seen several instances where people had bi-polar coupled with drug and alcohol addiction and each one of those persons were just as bad as Edwin Valero (in some cases worst).
I feel real sorry for him and his family, taking into consideration how mental disorders affect people when they go unchecked. What's done is done and I hope I kids are taken care of.

see people, this whole crap couldve been prevented if family members of the guy spoke out, its obvious that dude's mind want right, if they acted sooner all this couldve been prevented, drugs and alcohol since age 18?? thats crazy, he's 28 when he died. Now is all too late....
its simply a verbal attack on the mans actions.
its really how you interpret what other posters are trying to say..
committing suicide is not punishment. its the easiest way out. a better man will not only acknowledge that hes got problems, but will also seek help no matter what.
you people have no idea what went on so dont judge him
NO IDEA !
relationships can be deadly
look @ gatti
leave the man alone YOU DONT KNOW WHAT HAPPEND

it doesn't matter what anyone says now good or bad because he isn't here to answer them.
No one is saying that what Valero did wasn't wrong.
What intelligent people are saying, is why the blind hate? They don't know what the shit Valero was going through. They don't know if he had serious problems or not. Pass the alchohol shit, how does anyone know that he didn't have any serious mental problems?
Just blind hate. One day they love the guy the next they just blind hate the guy. Valero seemed like a really cool dude and in NO WAY do I think he should get a pass for killing his wife. But I want to know why or what made him do this shit.
One day, he ****ed up. Whatever he did, he ****ed up. Whether it was drugs, alchohol, whatever. He snapped, he didn't run, he reported it himself, admitted himself that he killed his wife. Woke up the next day, probably off whatever the shit he took and then it hit him.... he knew what he did and knew that it wasn't him.
Who the hell talks about martians die? C'mon man. I'm not saying feel sorry for him, just don't blindly hate the guy.
y9ou dont know what he was going through either
so you and others are praising a wife beating murderer who takes his own life rather than leave it in the hands of God ?
we dont know how bad the unibomber had it or charlie manson so should we be easy on them?
Should we sypathize with Hitler for trying to off all jews?
Just because we didnt know what he was going through??
I say hell no
Facts are facts
and the fact is that Valero was a wife beater
fact, Valero murdered his wife
fact he chose the cowards way out
I had drug and alcohol problems and never raised my hand to my woman, plus i boxed for over 10 years whats the excuses for him now.
No excuse, all power to you for getting out before it destroyed your life, thats why u stopped.

agree with you, you see it my way,
So I should feel sorry for a weak minded person? lol
Just about the domestic murderers most likely go through the same shit. Have sympathy for them too??

I dont feel sorry for him, the whole thing is ****ed up thats why i said i dont approve of anything he did, im just saying stop the verbal childish bullshit everyone here is doing, like as if they're gods or kings, he did what he did and he'll deal with it in his next life. chris benoit did the same thing, even worse, the thing is, athletes are praised but when they need help no one gives it to them, Benoit had a ****ed up head after they did the autopsy, no one in their right mind would that, stop acting like as if he just got up and said 'hey, lemme kill my wife and leave my kids orphaned and then kill myself in a jail cell'....
