Floyd Mayweather Jr: Better then Ali and SRR??

He said this last night on 24/7. Your thoughts? Far from it. But again this might not even be his "own" words so to speak. It could just, as it has been mentioned, a PR stunt luring people into buying the PPV.

floyd is AN ATG,but he went a little too far.yes,i know he is supposed to say things like that so he can believe in himself,but still

If he is, he sure hasn't proved it. I'm a big fan and he still has the opportunity, but he has to start thinking legacy and that involves taking risks he hasn't been inclined to take.

I dont understand how people can say they love the sport of boxing but discredit something another fighter does in the ring but not another fighter!!!! Like pac he has fought weight drained fighters and bust em up then he becomes the best boxer of all time from alot of people view but if floyd bust em up its they r too old or too small or this fighter beat this fighter by a wider margin than this fighter it all sucks to me!!! jus except the fighter skills pac floyd shane srr ali whoever nobody discredits anyones skills. everyone knows floyd has the skills. he just isn't a great ambassador for boxing. imo, i love boxing to the core and to me i view it as all about guts and glory. floyd sees it the opposite but i still give credit when its due. he's the best boxer (not fighter) in the sport right now. cotto wasn't weight drained even though he had to weigh in 1lb less he still came in to the ring superb. so that logic is wrong. DLH was weight drained, but whos fault is that really? Morales 2? weight drained i don't think so. pac v. morales I he weighed in at 129 1/2 lbs. their second match he weighed in at 128 1/2 lbs. yea real weight drained my ass. he was past it mentally if anything. the whole weight drained issue and done to death and just bullshit imo. one matter is that pac brings it 110% every single fight bar none no excuses even when he loses he goes out guns blazing i.e pac v. morales 1.

He's a little more annoying on this 24/7 series than in the past, but whatever. But are we really supposed to expect him to say "nah, I'm not the best, there's a ton of people out there who were better"? Come on. Of course he's not going to say that. And he's not supposed to.

I think you guys are missing the point. Floyd, at least to me, is saying in order for me to be the greatest fighter ever I have to actually believe it. As he said in the episode why would I say someone is better than me. I think that is the mentality a boxer should have to be great. If you really think that you are going to train harder because you have said it and you have to back it up. I am sure kobe thinks he is the best even though he may never say it. Floyd may still have some things to prove but that doesn't mean he shouldn't think of himself as the greatest. Once you start doubting your abilities and skills you already lost.

But that "old" out of "prime" Shane is a natural Welter, was Marquez, hell was even Hatton? 1) That's why I said I'm not going to defend him fighting Marquez because even I thought that fight was worthless 2) I was responding to some other guy that called Shane Mosley old and out of prime despite Mosley wanting that fight first. 3) Hatton's not a natural welter, but he had his chance to unify the belts with Mayweather at 140. Hatton's team thought he was green and realistically why drop to 140, when Hatton's team didn't want it at that weight, and Mayweather was coming down from 154? Its not like Hatton had problems making 147.

He said hes been Boxing for his whole life so he refuses to say that somebody is a better Boxer than him, so he was saying he does believe hes better than Ray Robinson and Ali was... he never said he was a bigger ATG, he just said he believes he is a better Boxer than they were... which he is entitled to believe because at the end of the day its his opinion and Boxers have to have confidence. Whether or not we agree with him is a different story, he didn't say he was a bigger ATG, cause he isn't... he just said he believes he is better then they were.

I agree. Floyd is getting on my nerves. He picks fights with smaller fighters(JMM) and fighters past their prime(Sugar Shane Mosley) and ducks true competition. Ali and Sugar Ray actually had balls. this is the reason why I can't support floyd, he has no respect for the history of the sport. Do you hear jordan, russell, or magic say their the best? NO but there is an argument for all three but there never on camera saying i'm the best this sport has ever seen. How bout montana elway brady or manning etc. they don't say their the best to ever do it when asked. He's a clown that has no respect and when richardson basically called floyd a fake thug i laughed my ass off. Floyd is all an act and if he does lose we might see a temper tantrum in the post fight interview like never before.

well if he can go all the way through his career undefeated, and fights the best available opposition then maybe he can say that. but as of right now, not for me.

he is getting on my nerves on the 24/7 show. but what he is doing is promoting the fight. he wants us to buy the ppv to see him lose. What else is he suppost to say. nobody is going to say he is better than me.
