He can blame the trainer, his nutritionist, his entire corner or other factors but at the end of the day it was his own fault.
There's another thread here about Miranda where people are implying that he needs a better corner, e.g. a new trainer.
Well, Goosen is a great trainer, a veteran in the sport, and probably the only guy you'll need in your corner to motivate you. Not only did Miranda's team switch trainer but they also tried to 'convert' him to be a different and smart fighter using more of his utilities as a fighter instead of being a one-dimensional brawler who only relies on his power.
So, one would think that 9 months with Goosen (or any other good veteran trainer) in training camp should have a positive outcome. You saw _tiny fractions_ of it in his fight last night with Lucian Bute. Something was changed but the viewer or ring expert didn't know to what extent. He seemed patient, waiting for an opening and measure his opponent with his jab frequently - something he didn't do in the past. It also turns out that he's been quiet up to the fight and during the fight about his opponent and not being verbally abusive like he used to do.
First round went as expected. Both fighters testing each other carefully. When the fight progressed and Bute slowly took control with his own right jab and fluid movement, Miranda became frustrated and showed his true colours. I recognized him straight away, yup that was the 'old' Miranda, and I could see a knock-out coming from Bute. It took 2 rounds to bring the old Miranda back to the surface. He's one-dimensional, can't adjust, his boxing IQ is basically non-existent and he only relies on his power. You don't pose like that when you're hurt. You don't pose like that when you're uncomfortable. That's just stupid.
Hearns had power in his fists. But he could also box.
You can blame the trainer, his nutritionist, his entire corner or other factors but at the end of the day it is his own fault. He's limited as a boxer.
9 months, or years for that matter, won't change you as a boxer if your mindset is stuck in the same place. If you want to change yourself to be a different (and greater) fighter you'll need your mind, body and soul to move with it. Not just your feet and hands.
Congratulations to Lucian Bute for a great fight. He's improving after each fight. I would love to see Ward against Bute.
I remember the story on Miranda hbo did when he fought Pavlik, he seemed like a good guy with a good story. Then Pavlik knocked him out and it's been down hill ever since. Too bad but he rode the A.Green victory for so long. He probably had no right fighting for a title.
I thought Miranda looked better than he ever had in the first two rounds. That damn uppercut by Bute was just mean though. Anyone would have been KO'd by that shot.
the douche bag won the fight.. we dont need "HBO white ass kissing fighters" we need warriors and true sportsman. Bute is a cheat, Andrade beat him the first time round. Martinez would beat Bute easily
What does your reply have to do with Miranda blowing his 4th chance to win a title fight?
The 1st fight between Bute and Andrade ended in controversy but Bute was at least 5 rounds ahead on all scorecards. He knocked Andrade out in the rematch. What's criminal about that?
As for Martinez beating Bute: Bute is a 6'2 super middleweight probably aiming at the light heavy division in the future.
Yeah, Joe Goosen ain't happy about Miranda posing when he was hurt. Goosen might leave Miranda after that dumb ass performance. Why would you let your opponent know you're hurt by trying to pretend you're not? :pat:
