Schaefer said the pay-per-view tally for the Bernard Hopkins-Roy Jones Jr. fight on April 3 is at about 130,000 but is expected to approach 150,000 after all the figures are in.
Golden Boy set 300,000 as its goal. However, some experts wondered whether it would exceed 100,000, which Schaefer said was overly pessimistic.

Man, that shit is pathetic considering there was a time of where Hopkins' did in the 300k-400k range. Like his fights with Taylor, Tarver, and even Winky.
what??
First off, Dawson-Hopkins would not be on PPV.
Dawson has no fan base and Hopkins isn't a big draw himself at this point.
The only reason Jones-Hopkins did 150,000 buys is because it was jones and hopkins and a rematch.
Hopkins-Dawson would be on HBO and they would have to split a pot of $3 million.
What I would like to know is how much money HBO would put up for Hopkins-Bute in Canada and compare that to how much he could get against Dawson.
either way I want hopkins to retire.
Hopkins never was.
Bhop got the best deal, no doubt.
I can't stand B HOP for that one.
Roy signed, but a this point,Roy is a lost shot fighter in denial.
Old B Hop abused the shell of Roy and takes all the money.A DAMN SHAME.
I hope RJJ gets paid.
I don't care,he has enough Money to live like a king until the end of his days.
I only hope he calls it a day,and his health will be ok ,he's damaged good, mentally and physically.
I posted this last week on this thread: http://www.boxingscene.com/forums/showthread.php?t=373706
Iole is basically predicting 100K buys and had done his calculations...

"The sad thing about the fight is that Jones won’t make anything. Let’s assume for a second that the 6,792 in the building actually paid for their seats (we know that’s not true) and that the seats averaged $300 a ticket (a figure higher than reality). That would mean the gate was $2 million. If the expenses to rent the building and promote the fight were $1 million, that means $1 million is left. Now, let’s figure it sold 100,000 pay-per-views at $49.95 apiece. That’s about $5 million. They have to split 50 percent of that with the cable and satellite operators, so that leaves $2.498 million for themselves. Add the $1 million from the gate and the $2.498 million from the pay-per-view and you have $3.498 million in profit. Given that the contract called for the first $3.5 million in profit to go to Hopkins and Golden Boy, it’s almost certain Jones fought for nothing. Actual revenue will likely be far less than I’ve described above."

Yeah, because if Hopkins was gauranteed 3.5 mill, and then they split the rest.. that wouldn't be 50-50.
So Roy gauranteed Bernard the first 3.5 mill... meaning you will get paid first if it doesn't do well.
THen Roy receives anything after that 3.5 mill, up to 3.5 mill of his own, and then the rest is split 50-50.
Cable companies get almost half of all pay per view revenues
I would assume he gets the first 3.5 million from Profits not total ppv. So after they have paid promoters advertising etc . This does not look good for Jones damn..............he got hosed on this one.
So with the revenue, that probably didn't do much with the 6k plus fans in attendance. I would say a crazy guess like, the fight generated $9-10Mill(with the PPV numbers generating 7.50Mill) in total...Jones gets not even $1 or $2 Mill from that?
I don't get it but whatever. I'm sure RJ has enough money to live comfortably for the rest of his life, plus he has his own promotional company with some pretty good fighters like that black Ukrainian Light Heavyweight.
huh that's an interesting way of doing things.
So jones could have came out fairly decent then.

Hopkins got a guaranteed 3.5 million off the bat, then the PPV is divided 50/50. So jones got somewhere like a million or two for this fight.
Actually... Jones is gauranteed the next 3.5 mill.. or whatever is left.. and if there is more then they split it 50-50.
