Someon Explain To Me Why Berto Is Hated?

I don't see no reason as to why Berto should be hated. Some may not like his style, but he is a good fighter. Like some have stated, the blame perhaps should be pointed at HBO, for hyping him too early. He evidently had a tough time against Collazo, and a rematch should have been made. When he fights the likes of a Clottey, Cotto, Mosley....then we can see just how he measures at 147. I'm hoping his team can land Mosley (if he loses to Floyd) or Margarito/Clottey this year.

untrue. you dont HAVE to wrestle with berto. collazo didnt wrestle with him all the time. when he kept his hands free and banged to the body berto got hurt and didnt know what to do other than try to hold more. like atlas says, you need cooperation to consistently hold your opponent. berto doesnt have the footwork to keep up if turned, plus his balance is horrible. you turn out of his clinch, he's extremely vulnerable. also, bruseles aint shot. why you always quick to call someone shot if theyre defeated? he's just not on jones' level. Berto is so strong that you if you dont attempt to wrestle you'll just be man handled. You could argue that hes the strongest WW right now. I cant see guys moving up beating him yet. Atleast until Alexander, Bradley and Ortiz actually beat someone as fast and as good as Berto is. No one they beat is on Bertos level no matter how bad you think Berto is. Then you throw in the new weight class vs. arguably thee strongest WW that could be a disaster. On Mike Jones. One day when hes a finished product he could beat some guys but so far his best win is Henry Brusselles a shot fighter who won the first two rounds vs. Jones. Maybe down the road but if he was scheduled to fight Berto on the Pavlik card rather then whoever hes fighting Berto would manhandle him. Hes not experienced enough to deal with that kind of explosive speed, power and strength. Berto gets crap because of how he looks vs. Slick lefties. I think Berto is a cool guys.. I thought he lost vs Collazo.. I think he might win the rematch if it ever happens.. I dont think he a top 3 WW.. Maybe in the same league with Clottey, Cotto.. I really want to see a Cotto vs Berto fight..

Some good points about skilled tacticians like Jones, Alexander, and Bradley. Don't know about Ortiz and how he would handle the explosive combos though, he might just fold up if he gets hurt again. green sent in any case. i understand that people will always question ortiz' heart and label him a quitter until he proves otherwise, so i wont argue that. i just think he learned his lesson early and is making a more concerted effort to keep his style tight and become a power boxer. vs berto, ortiz would be the bigger puncher and he's the sharper, more accurate puncher, who knows how to set up his shots (berto doesnt). he also keeps his hands free, is a good body puncher (collazo beat up berto's body on the inside) and is the much better inside fighter. i believe that victor's machismo days are over and he now knows what hes gotta do to avoid putting himself in a situation like he was in against maidana. if the rumors about berto's chin are true, ortiz could make quick work of him.

Alex weighted 147 fight night vs Urango. Berto weighted 153. Some fair fight. How do you see it playing out. The Urango fight was getting worse for Alex until the K.O. The Q fight was getting better for Berto until the stoppage. I think Berto would go seek and destroy on Alex, and stop him late. You've got jokes. Mike Jones hasn't beat a welter as good as Cosme Rivera or Estada. He had to take a step up in class to fight a welter Henry Brussels. Collazo knows what would happen in a rematch, which is why he didn't take it the first time. Hope he wins vs Adyin so one has to happen.
