If Bernard Hopkins refuses to retire there are less than a handful of options for him at this point of his career. He refuses to acknowledge that he's no longer(and hasn't been for quite sometime) a fighter worthy of a $50 PPV price tag.
So where does the Executioner go from here? Feel free to speculate!
I think it's fair to say that he won't get a shot at Haye, no matter how much he screams and cries for it. I also think it's fair to say a prime Haye dominates or seriously hurts a much weaker Hopkins.
The only thing, other than retirement, that I could possibly see for Hopkins is another fight against Glen Johnson on a regular HBO WCB card if Johnson fights and beats Cloud.

I know what you mean but he's still a top 5 p4p fighter. Sad that, really, doesn't say much for the state of boxing these days! Or maybe it says something about the quality of B-Hop...?
I think B-Hop has slipped a bit and in his last two fights and it has shown. If he were to continue I would accept Dawson or Cloud but otherwise I have very little interest in any meanless fights. He has done enought to retire now, but why continue if it is without purpose.
And bute fought much of his career at light heavyweight.
Oh remember how you constantly talk about how bernard started his career heavier and shrunk down. So that doesn't apply to bute now, who fought much of his career at 175 and is 6'2 and in your logic, "shrunk" to 168? Hypocrite much?
You tell me who hopkins should fight at 175. List the names of guys hopkins can fight and list when those fights can happen.
i don't know much about bute, but if he fought most of his career @ 175 and scaled down to 168, i don't have much of a problem with that...especially since at this point, nobody is comparing him to any of the all-time greats...
Nard started out @ 175 and shrunk down to 160...that I have a problem with...especially when numbnuts try to compare him to fighters like srr, srl, and hagler...neither of whom had to scale down to have an unfair size and strength advantage over anyone they fought...
hopkins...get in the ring with dawson...or retire...dawson's not a draw is hopkins fanboys biggest excuse...well neither is hopkins, so they are even on that accord..., hopkins had everybody conned into thinking that he was going to fight the winner of dawson/johnson 2...what changed from then to now
You have got to give credit to bhop for the pavlik performance, it was a masterful performance and showed why he is one of the best fighters of this era.
I have no problem with that fight but I doubt hopkins would go to Australia to fight him, so it seems unlikely since Green isn't a draw anywhere else.
ahh, you make it sound worse than it is. Winky and his tune up fights you can disregard. Pavlik was a great win, everyone knows it. Calzaghe was moving to 175 with our without hopkins, that was his plan to leave 168 as he was killing himself to make weight, that's well documented.
Hopkins has been about the best fights possible and money. He's at 175. There are no big names above him, if they were he'd be fighting them.
I agre with that sentence, but still it doesnt justify why bhop cant fight dawson. Dawson has beat all the LH's out there who were willing to fight him.

anyone else besides me see these as typical hopkins excuses..
So Bute is a shot fighter that's two divisions smaller then him? Really, that's quite amazing tell us more
he's a f'ing supermiddleweight...why can't this guy make a fight with a legit lightheavy or cruiserweight...he's been a lightheavy for what? 6 years now?
IF Haye agreed to the bhop fight, Haye would batter him. Then after the fight, everyone would say, why is haye picking on bhop, a LH when theres the klits wating to fight him.
Im not in favour of bhop calling out SMW
What does that have to do with what you said?
Nothing.
Oh.
Sure, but that doesn't change the fact hopkins DID in fact want to figth Haye, at heavyweight for his title after the jones fight and haye declined.
Whether or not hopkins would have got his ass kicked is not in question, simply correcting your error.
Ive read your post above about the other LH and other possible fights for bhop out there. After seeing those names, theres only two names that could be potential fights.
Dawson - even though he sells no tix
Danny Green
Or he could just retire
Haye declined Hopkins offer so I don't know what you're smoking.

YesI know that Bute is a huge name in Canada and sells laods of tix there. But Dawson is the geniune LH, Bute isnt. Bhop was talking about moving to HW, now hes picking on SMW
same garbage story with hopkins....talks about fighting dawson, haye, the klitchkos, etc., but in reality he's lining up another shot fighter or two divisions smaller fighter who is a real draw...i don't see how this guy has any fans except for NASA666...
Haye actually turned the fight down.
So uh, yeah.

No, im also not in favour of him calling out david haye before the jones fight, then a borefest against jones, then calling out a SMW. After bhop saw haye-ruiz, he wanted no part of haye. Bhop should retire.

So you're in favor of hopkins sitting out for the rest of the year and fight Dawson when he's 46 for less money?

well the thing is hopkins said he would fight bute in canada and in canada bute is a huge name compared to dawson. Dawson's last three fights combined sold less than 5,000 tickets. Bute sells out against bums.

I think he said he wants to fight Bute at 170 or something like that.
Yes. It would be a decent fight, but I cant understand why he just doesnt setp up and fight Dawson. The excuse bhop used in not facing dawson was cos cahd isnt a household name n he sells no tickets. Well chad dawson is bigger name in boxing than Bute, plus dawson is a genuine LH, whereas bute isnt.
