Come fight night, it'll be a full 16 1/2 months since Mosley has been in the ring. He is a seasoned vet, but considering his age and his recent family issues, could this be a problem? I feel this is a very underplayed issue, especially considering it's Mayweather he's fighting here.
Good point. Plus, neither fighter has been super-active during the last two years IMHO.
Hopefully the rust factor will be negated by the fact that both fighters are consummate professionals with no alcohol or other recreational drug histories.
Some good points made. I feel like you can spar a ton, but it's not the same as having 500k people watching you, along with all the other differences that go along with sparring. It's definitely a plus though that he ahds tarted the Berto training camp. I hope he comes out sharp.
idt it will be an issue b/c he been training since his last fight. he went through a full training session for the berto fight. its not like he just been seating around playing madden and going bowling.
Floyd last fought in Sept, Mosley in January. 2009. You do that math.
I did the math. Floyd has had ONE fight in 21 months.
Shane has had ONE fight in 15 months.
Mayweather has been in the ring 1 time since his December 07 victory over Hatton.
Shane's last fight was January 09 against Tony.
You do math.

No way, this is why I hate fighters who also use tune up fights an excuse to fight someone much smaller. Boxers spar like 150 rounds for big fights, you telling me you are going to be ring rusty after fighting 150 rounds! no way
the whole point of sparring is to get rid of ring rust and perfect your plan
Considering his age, his divorce battle (which I think, you know, indicates that he perhaps might not have been in the gym as much and had training on his mind as much during that) and the fact that he's fighting Floyd Mayweather Jr, uh... yeah, no shit, I think 16 months layoff is not ideal preparation. It likely will be a major factor in the fight.

It was a problem for floyd in his last fight so i cant see it being a problem for shane!!!
Shane must win this fight!!! Then stop manny cold in his tracks!!!
