It's so funny when people bring up the weight drain issue with Oscar when it was OSCAR who called Pac out. Pac had just fought at 135lbs! You think he went around calling Oscar out who he knew had just fought @ 153lbs against Forbes? Oscar said he could make 147lbs period. That's his own problem. Now Pac agreed with it and on his part, he had to put on the extra weight effectively expecting to fight an in shape Oscar. It's not his fault Oscar who picked on him came in looking like shit. Pac had to do what he had to do. :spank:
i think people really underrate this win. i mean it wasnt an incredible win, but it was a good one. before i my thoughts went like this:
even a past-prime, weight drained de la hoya would be able to beat pac. some forget that de la hoya was a great fighter and at the time i thought even a shell of himself would beat a natural 130 pounder in pacquiao.

El my man, there is only 1 problem with what you just said and that is the Floyd-JMM fight. Who called who out? JMM called Floyd out but all you heard non stop was about Floyd picking on the little guy and making the little guy come up in weight when JMM was the one who called him out and volunteered to come up in weight. Now sure you can say Floyd was 2 pounds over but people were ripping him and the fight way before then and you were one of them. You and the others cant have it both ways
The main reason Roach took the fight was that he knew Oscar couldn’t pull the trigger anymore, it was on the ring that Freddy saw Oscar's IV marks, if Oscar got into that situation it’s his fault, he wanted to pick on the little guy and retire with a bang, a LOT of people thought it was a circus, sadly for Oscar things didn't turn out like he would have liked to and Pacquaio did what he had to do…
Its not Pacquiao's fault he was weight drained, nor should anyone fault him for taking a fight against the biggest draw in Boxing.
That said he was weight drained for that fight.
The fight would of been the same if they fought at the 160 pound limit.
And why does the weight thing take anything away from Manny?
Was he Oscars chef? Doesn't Oscar have the money to hire a pro weight trainer to make sure he got to 147 correctly and healthy?
His brother was the one feeding him so who's fault is it that Oscar came in unhealthy to the Pac fight?
Could it be all oscars fault?
I seriously believe that someone tampered with that scale. Pac weight 3lbs different between the one in the dressing room and the one they used. It was never really brought up because Oscar got his ass kicked.
It doesn't change the fact that Oscar was severely drained. The fight should not have been initiated in the first place.
Oscar was literally so drained that he had I.V. marks from trying to rehydrate.Along with Freddie Roach's stipulation that on fight night he could not weigh a certain amount, it lead to a horrible night.
Do you think that it was the responsible thing to take a fight against someone this bad?Do you think the fight should have been made in the first place?
BTW-it is much easier to put on weight and be effective than it is to drain yourself...
The poor pattern here is that Manny and Co. continued this pattern with fights they knew that the opponents would have troubles making weight.Maybe one day Manny will fight the best out there without any advantages and he will quit pretending he is the "smaller" guy in a similar weight division...
Says who? You?

He didnt just fight at 135 lbs he fought at 146 lbs which he was doing for the last few years , makes a lot of difference to the perspective ,,,, now on top of that Oscar only thought he could make 147 he had not done it in 10 yrs ,,,, then you have Forbes beating him up and then you have his former trainer training Pac ,,,,, yeah your right it wasnt Pacs fault Oscar screwed himself on the scales , but you better believe it was a well chosen fight from Mannys perspective and the right time in Oscars career , Manny has been brought along to perfection , people want to make him superman but I see him being really well matched , Floyd and Mosley are big risks for Manny , they ducked Mosley and Roach said so himself and they said no and walked out the door on a Floyd fight , it seems manny has a lot of provisos to fight him unless your Arum owned Clottey the walking mummy lol .

it was oscar f'ing dela hoya ... of course manny would take the fight, it was going to be his biggest purse to date and exposure to different level of fans
it seems like some people cannot separate one thing from another.
did oscar call out manny at 147, yes
did oscar drain himself to make that weight, yes
did oscar make his bed and then have to lie in it, yes.
oscar didn't rehydrate properly that was his fault, he has all these people working for him (nutritionist, trainer, etc) and no one knew how to hydrate him properly? sounds like someone isn't doing their job ...
can someone confirm if there is actual documentation that manny's opponents are limited in how much they can rehydrate? substantial links only please.
Along with Freddie Roach's stipulation that on fight night he could not weigh a certain amount, it lead to a horrible night.
Post a link to where you got this, would you kindly.

Its not Pacs fault but Oscar was still weight drained.

It does`nt change the fact that Pac fought a weight Drain Delahoya. Why do you think Pac took the fight?Roach new Delahoya would be weight drained and he said it.Pac never wanted to fight Delahoya,it was roached who encouraged Pac to take the fight by insinuating to Pac that Delahoya was not gonna be 100%..
Ok...but that doesn't change the fact that none of it would have happened had Oscar not picked on him to begin with? Oscar got what he deserved. He had just fought at 153lbs and he's calling out a 135lbs fighter?! wtf? :dunno:
