I read the latest BS P4P list and see there are no heavyweights on there, again
I thought pound 4 pound meant based on a boxer's skill, if they were bigger they would dominate?
So the list seems to be small guys , but cant it be big guys - saying IF they were smaller, they would dominate smaller divisions?
e.g. D Haye wss unified cruiserweight world chamption and now is HW world champion, is that not p4p?
Going that way, again it is hypothetical, imagine if there was a heavyweight equivalent of Manny Pacquiao. P4P is supposed to strip away the height classes, make it irrelevant, and judge fighters based on their skills and record. That's why most heavyweights simply don't qualify for the p4p top 10, and none today should be there. Fighters in the lower weight classes typically have more skill and talent.
i agree but on the other hand it takes skill and talent to move and box well when you are 240 pounds...
i know.......that was a respnse to people saying srr or pacman would move up in weight and retain all their speed/agility/power.... it has to work both way as you said..

It's supposed to be comparable, it's not Tyson with his heavyweight power at middleweight, it's if Tyson was a middleweight and had exceptional middleweight power like he had exceptional power at heavyweight.

no my friend you are wrong. lets take tyson retaining his power and drop him to mw............can you see how dumb that sounds.

I'm not wrong and yes it's dumb if taken too literally...that's why it shouldn't be taken too serious.
Actually, when folks used to refer to Robinson that way, that's EXACTLY what they meant.

Well that is what taking Floyd and Manny to 230 for Wlad to 147 is for the most part and estimating the difference when you scale in your mind what the power Wlad would have a WW would be or how fast Pac would be if you bulked him up to 230.
The whole p4p thing is really just fantasy anyway, they shouldn't have made an official ranking that ppl take seriously because its all subjective.
I could say I think Dawson is P4P #1 and know one could make a serious argument about it really.
exactly right.....i was just irritated at the people who think that hws cant be pfp. granted people who hate the current hw division are justified imo..but theoretically its possible
determining pound for pound does not mean if manny or floyd were 230 pound hws with all the same skills and speed they have at ww.

I look at Vitali Klitschko's record and KO percentage and say he should be in every ones top ten p4p. Same goes for Kelly Pavlik. I personally see KO % as a huge factor in choosing p4p
determining pound for pound does not mean if manny or floyd were 230 pound hws with all the same skills and speed they have at ww. that is fcking retarded and most you think that. that is like saying vlad fighting at ww while retaining his power... just stupid... pfp is really just considereing the speed and power differences of each division, and taking the guy with the better skills power and speed with weight class taken into account.
random question= who is hozumi hasegawa???
P4P one of the best fighters in the World.
The best fighter out of Japan right now.
And, arguably the best fighter at bantamweight.
Dude is pretty good.

A japanese southpaw who IMO is one of the best fighters on the planet. Hes fighting Montiel next in April 24th.
Cliff Rold, who does the boxingscene rankings, does not include heavies in his list. His list is for non-heavies. I have asked the question before and also said that Tyson and other heavies was on the ring rankings BITD.
To be clear, it's not an absolute. There could be an exception. I don't think Heavyweights generally display the skill level of the littler men. It's historically the case and emphatically the case right now.
