what do you guys think? jsut got into a debate with a friend of mine who thinks hes fights reall dirty. I have noticed Cotto likes to put his forearm on the back of his opponents head and kind of push them down sometimes....and he did kinda body slam Clottey...but other than that what do you think?
A lot of fighters fight dirty in their own way. Floyd likes to use his elbows to push off sometimes and has been taken a point away in a fight due to it. Cotto will sneak in a low blow here and there, just like Hopkins does from time to time.
I can't name any fighter who hasn't snuck in a low blow or two in their careers just to get the guy off rhythm.

that pushing down an opponents neck with your forearm is sick, im gonna be usin that when i turn pro, most people use up loads of energy trying to stay up, and after awhile puts a strain on their neck, leaving them more susceptible to a ko
course he is, one of the worst but he is a fan fav so he will never get criticised loads
against torres he was on his way to a defeat till he low blowed
same against judah
we all saw how he behaved towards clottey as well
Nah. I think it's because he throws a lot of body punches. When he slammed Clottey, I was pretty convinced that wasn't intentional. Clottey sort of landed awkwardly on Cotto and Cotto didn't mean to throw him off the way he did. Never noticed the forearm thing
Yeah now that I look back at it I guess it's not "dirty" just more of a way to get a breather. He did it a handful of times in the Margarito fight. The one I remember most clearly was in the first minute of either round 8 or 9. Margarito leaned in to punch and Cotto threw his forearm out and pushed down on the back of Margaritos head nearly putting him down lol

Mayweather uses his forearm more than any other boxer today.
I thought he was a tad dirty in the Judah fight then I saw him fight Margarito. Even though he needed a break from the pressure from MArgarito he never did anything dirty.
I don't Cotto is dirty at all. He strayed low a few times, but that is what happens when you are a committed body puncher. The forearm thing is somewhat of a defensive manuever when a guys is ducking inside.

yep......he is smart dirty though.....Judah had him in serious trouble, but a few strategic low blows fixed that.....he knew he needed to survive because Judah would break down the stretch.......

some of his low blows look suspect but overall i dont think he intends to hit low. he just throws a lot of shots to the body.
the one shot on judah looked intentional though. looked like he wanted to slow judah's work rate with a good shot to the nuts.

He is not different than all the other fighters. Some hit with elbows, some punch in the back of the head. All fighters have their own little bad habits. It is normal when you are in the heat of the moment.:boxing:
if you're talking about the Judah fight, the first one didnt look very low to me. It was a little low, but not super low. The 2nd one was extremely low and looked sort of intentional to me.
