personally i think he could still beat anyone in the super six....the next ward fight will answer a lot of questions...im not quite a believer yet...
someone at light heavy weight like dawson would cause him problems.....
Yes you do, good luck with that......look how much trouble he had early on with that 1D Curtis Steven?
Jeff ko 4.
thanks for the support. i expect a hard tough fight down at the local pub but i expect to come out victorious with a well earned Majority decision. aim high! then perhaps a roy jones rematch?
Personally I thought Chad would have beaten Joe at the time Joe retired. I definately think he beats him now.
As far as the Super 6 go it is hard to say. Dirrell and Ward both have the potential to give him problems I guess, as does Bute.
Still, the Calzaghe hate on here is a joke. The man was a great fighter and he deserves credit.
Both Roy and Hopkins, in their 40's sent Calzaghe to the floor in the first round when they were "fresh". Calzaghe made the best of his career retiring when he did, i tell you that. I think Abraham for one would KO Calzaghe and I'm talking about a 1 punch KO here. Both Dirrell and Ward would be too much technically for Cazaghe at any stage of his career. But who knows, it's boxing. Only if he comes back we can really tell.
so what?
look at the knockdowns, how did they happen? when calzaghe was trying top entertain. aftr that calzaghe fought in his normal way ensuring victory and dominated. despite one guy trying his best to make it a scrappy fight (hopkins)
technically nobody could touch calzaghe. not even roy jones which is why roy jones is terrible once he lost his legs. yes roy jones would beat calzaghe prime vs prime because his speed and power would be too much. speed and power have nothing to do with how good a boxer is technical wise. calzaghe is far more talented in terms of boxing skills than any super six boxers.
I ask you, combine the power and speed of a prime roy jones to the boxing skills of calzaghe. you get the greatest ****ing boxer in history
dawson would send him to his grave...ward and dirrell would beat him to pieces...blood bath against bute...calzaghe needs to stay gone...i think in a rematch with b-hop he'd lose...
BHOP's a dirty fighter who clinches and headbutt, ask Roy Jones Jr, Calzaghe, and Wright. BHOP didn't beat Roy, Calzaghe, or Wright. If BHOP has to try and win fights by cheating then he is the real loser. :killyou:

Well, there are good prospects, but probably you're right - Calzaghe could still beat anyone.

38 and being gone 2 years isnt good when you depend on speed..
Yup. I would pick a handful of fighters to beat him handily at this point.
Dawson and Ward for sure, probably a few others. Hes older now, hasnt been training, using coke, etc. Also I dont think he was ever really the best.
he would destroy dawson. the only way i see him losing is him being shot to peices when he comes back. loses a lot of speed then someone like ward would take a 40 percent joe out
Whens the last time he destroyed a prime contender? Lacy? What year was that. LOL.
I say Bute gives him a tough night
Bute gives anyone a tough night even if the person beats him.

Further to my post above:
I started out with the Ingles. I used to do a lot of body sparring with the likes of Bomber Graham, Johnny Nelson and Naseem Hamed. Nelson never had any bottle: he used to nick fights running away. But Naz was ****ing brilliant - so elusive and he hit really hard. Even when he were just 15, he told my uncle to get his autograph 'cos he were going to be a superstar.
Nigel Benn used me seven times over in Tenerife, including for the Gerald McClellan fight. I had a big bet, three figures, on McClellan to win in the first round at about 10-1. And he would've if the ref hadn't kept interrupting. Nige and me would spar half-an-hour a day, then both go out on the piss. We always had a headguard and 16 oz gloves and often I'd outjab him. Nigel weren't a liberty-taker.
But the best I've been inside the ring with was Joe Calzaghe in sparring. Beforehand, I thought he were quite boring to watch and looked as if he slapped but, **** me, he punches hard. If he slapped, Bernard Hopkins would've stood toe-to-toe with Joe, but he got on his bike, didn't he? If Joe and Nigel had fought, I think Joe would have been able to take the pain and would've ended up hurting Nigel, bit like Michael Watson did.
