I'm not sure Haye took this fight all that seriously, he was far from his sharpest form in the ring.
Agreed, he just kind of went through the motions knowing Ruiz couldn't really threaten him. I was looking for more of a statement from Haye though, he could have taken Ruiz out in the first three rounds if he wanted to.
Also they were both ex middle weights, looked tiny in there, and put on a clinic against him.
really how many times did jones or tony drop ruiz? how many times did haye drop ruiz? last time i check tony was on steroids and last time i checked haye completely dominated ruiz and stopped him. Did jones or toney do that?
I thought it was a good performance by Haye. People forget it's only his 3rd fight at heavyweight. I think he'll beat most apart from the Klitchkos.
I dunno why people are talking about possible fights with hopkins or Toney cuz it aint gonna happen. I'd like to see a Haye-Toney fight simply for the fun factor, but Toney aint done anything to deserve the fight. And i have no idea why some seem to think Hopkins deserves a shot either.
roy jones would of got knocked clean out v haye anytime in there careers jones as a paper chin end of haye has twice the power of green tarver johnson so thats b,s haye is a good fighter end of take them klits out then ppl say klits were shit jst same old bollocks
What fight did you watch? Haye dominated him more than anyone ever has besides Tua.
Well, Tua knocked Ruiz dead in a first round K.O. that is highlight worthy. But Tua was a born H.W. Street, I can kind of see where you are coming from. RJJ and Toney starting at MW, and all. I've grown on Haye, though. Still don't think he want's it with the Klit's.
lol dude i read your posts and think your a good poster but come on now,no one in this era has skills close to roy jones in his prime and used his speed to beat and skill to beat ruiz, haye went one better and knocked him out, then you got toney great boxer but he was on roids so fuk him that dont count, apart from tua no one has done that to ruiz,he got beat up pretty bad,i think haye should of used his jab alot more and could of finished him off earlier but haye fights for the knockout, roy didnt and toney was cheating,so you cant really compare
What fight did you watch? Haye dominated him more than anyone ever has besides Tua.
Haye won 7 out of the 9 rounds, but was getting hit a lot, and looked very bad at times. Jones straight up put on a clinic of skills, and Toney took him to school, both being much smaller, and non-punchers neither could stop him, Toney did get a KD though.
Haye didn't stop anything. The corner threw in the towel cus they knew Ruiz is old and shot and shouldn't be taking more damage than he needs. A prime Ruiz would have annihilated Haye.
prime ruiz would have been anihalated as well by haye..
I don't think Haye could beat Arreola either. But I think Toney might be able to beat Arreola due to styles and he is familiar with his way of fighting. On another note I think I'd probably make Haye a slight favorite over Toney. It's not a given though depending on which Toney shows up.
I think it's possible that Toney beats David Haye even at this stage.
its possible but i doubt it toney hasnt had a meaningful win in years and his last decent opponent was fres oquendo and that fight was a robbery that fres should have won
I think people are just expecting too much from Haye. He's only had 24 fights, 3 at HW and now people want to see him do better than two ATGs. Haye actually said it wasn't a very good performance, see below:
"My performance wasn't that great," said Haye. "It was entertaining, good for the crowd, but technically it wasn't as good as I'd have liked because I was taking way too many shots.
"The more of these tough fights I have the better I'll become. I'm nowhere near the complete article yet but I'm on the right road."
