I keep hearing from Cotto fans that Mayweather ducked Cotto stating that he lived too far (in Puerto Rico)
and I keep hearing Mayweather fans state that Cotto ducked Mayweather at 140 claiming that Cotto wasn't ready yet for that type of challenge..
I know myself, a blatant duck that I can think of was in the Post-Fight interview after KO'ing Ricky Hatton...Larry Merchant clearly asks Floyd about Miguel Cotto being the undefeated guy at 147lbs and just a month before that he defeated Shane Mosley and Floyd Mayweathers response was: "I will retire from Boxing before I let Boxing retire me!"..
you can take that how you like..but that was pretty obvious to me..and it was the PERFECT time to conduct that bout..both undefeated #1 and #2 WW's coming off great wins against Mosley and Hatton..
I can't find the youtube video, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who remembers that..but can anyone pull up facts whether they are videos or links rather than "here say" on why the DREAM MATCH never happened and who's fault it really was???...
after floyd fought oscar---he wanted big big fights---so hatton had a country behind him, so that fight was the fight he wanted---floyd wanted huge fights after oscar and hatton made him so much money---i feel he believed cotto wasn't big enough to fight him----even though cotto's following was pretty big at the time---he always sold at msg, but floyd at that time wanted the fight to be household like hatton and de la hoya----there was no way he felt cotto could bring in those numbers---that's why---floyd would have loved to fight cotto, but looking at the numbers for shane and margarito, floyd felt that the fight wouldn't sell like he wanted it to---that's what i thought at the time and still do---and bob arum badmouthing floyd didn't help--i mean, floyd wanted to fight cotto before and arum turned it down---floyd wanted shane before the oscar fight when he couldn't get oscat back in 2006, coz floyd knew fighting mosley and beating him would make the fight with oscar that much bigger---floyd was all about that money---that's why when shane lost to cotto, floyd wouldn't fight either of them coz the ppv didn't sell big and cotto, although victorious, barely beat shane----so had floyd fought cotto, he would have to deal with arum and risk lowe ppv sales, and had he fought shane at that time, who wasn't a ppv fighter just like cotto was unless they fought big names, he would have gotten eaten up for it---
floyd ducks no fighters---his arrogance and confidence is so high, i don't how it can get any higher---he truly feels all roads lead to him---him retiring was a smart move---these guys had to get their ppv sales up, and then the last man standing would draw him out of retirement---
after cotto lost to margarito, cotto's stock dropped to floyd i bet----and margarito was the name people wanted floyd to fight---but then the ppv sales for that fight didn't get floyd up for the fight with tony, and floyd never wanted to fight tony because he really felt tony was a no name who he would beat so easily but not get the money he wanted for it----money drives floyd, and it it back after the oscar fight to the highest degree---the reason floyd came out of retirement and fought the number 2 p4p fighter was to get the huge major fight with manny--who floyd knows would lose to him bad---floyd got up for the fight, and now the fight is the biggest fight of the last 4 decades possibly---floyd wants to be remembered for being in the biggest fights in history---pac and de la hoya----this is what drives floyd---people call it ducking---floyd calls it all roads leading to him---that's all it was---that's all it is now----now look at cotto---he lost to tony and manny, barely beat shane, shane crushes tony, tony loses to paul williams, and is crushed by shane, manny barely beats jmm, then crushes oscar and hatton, which takes away from rematches with floyd---floyd is getting called out by all of these guys now, and the last ones standing are shane and manny---and the fight he is about to take is with shane, so whether or not fate came into play for this fight due to the haiti quake and berto pulling out of the fight with shane, floyd set out and accomplished everything he wanted-----he is the biggest draw in boxing---the fight everybody wants is him and manny--and him and shane coz that fight was 10 years in the making---now floyd is in the highest paying fights of his career---and cotto is fighting for a 154 pound title and tony is just getting back into the sport after his legacy is tarnished forever---manny is still atop the mountain for now, but his legacy has a ? mark on it now because of the ost drgu testing refusal over 40 million dollars or 25 million--however much it will be---shane is expected to lost to floyd and the mega fight is on between floyd and manny---
floyd is a genius---he's smarter than people give him credit for----once floyd crushes shane and manny, then all of that margarito and cotto nonsense comes to fold in many people's eyes---and floyd once again becomes the fighter to beat---the top dog--the king of the throne---
as far as paul williams goes, he isn't a ppv fighter, and he barely won his last fight and lost to quitana---i guarantee u floyd isn't afraid to fight him, but it's sad sort of that floyd thinks so much about money, but i bet u if any of those fighters were in his position, they would think the same way with the amount of money they would get---i mean manny almost pulled out of the hatton fight coz of money issues--
bottom line, floyd didn't duck cotto---cotto still hasn't officially called floyd out, and even though floyd gets hammered by people regarding tony(and those people made a poll about who would win and floyd won by a landslide) and other fighters, he is still at the top and they had fallen down the mountain---now floyd, shane, and manny are the top 3---and after may 1st, floyd and manny are back to that meeting place----and floyd will spank his ass too----
Friggin' epic post.

bro i want to debate with you but your sig makes it hard for me to take you serious as it's clear what your agenda is. The fact that you think floyd retired so he would fight cotto is pretty laughable. and about the comeback you mention he did comeback to fight the guy that just demolished miguel cotto so how are you making anysense with your 'scared' theory? and by the way he is fighting shane mosley in a few weeks, which is the most dangerous fight he can take. So your logic is pretty much flawed. I sense a little envy or hate towards mayweather from you. Im a big margarito fan and i would have like to see tony get a shot at floyd but i dont hate floyd for it. Floyd would spank tony anyways.
All I'm saying is the BOXING WORLD was DEMANDING Cotto-Mayweather..and as soon as Cotto should have "LOCKED" his shot at the P4P King by beating the man Mayweather will fight next month or as you would call it a "dangerous fight"..he decided to retire..now Cotto takes 2 losses and he comes back to fight..JUAN MANUEL MARQUEZ....:spank:..Oh wait..but "he called him out!"..lol
I'm not envious at all..like I said..Mayweather is a GENIUS businessman...he takes on the most lucrative fights with the least risk..Mosley hasn't fought in 16 months..and he beat a stationary-shook-cuz-he-got-caught Margarito..and struggled massively before KO'ing the one-dimensional Mayorga..
Mayweather-Margarito would have been good in late 06-early 07
Mayweather-Cotto would have been good in Late 07-early 08
instead he was fighting Baldomir and being retired in those times..and you wanna sit there and tell me it wasn't premeditated and all coincidence?!..C'mon bro..even I know you're smarter than that..Cotto and Margarito would probably and more than likely have lost to Mayweather..but they were RISKY fights..and that's why he looked past them..that's all..
Lol..pretty convenient time to retire if you ask me..and what perfect timing in his return..A genius is something I could never deny him being..
And it isn't about me "Believing" Cotto would beat Mayweather..I also believe Cotto would have lost..it was just the MOST intriguing fight at 147 for like a year and a half..and there always seemed to be something in the way..and I highly doubt it was Arum..
but why do Floyd supporters always feel defensive with shit like this?..it's not only Floyd..it's ANYONE who's at the top and claiming to be the greatest but fighting Lightweights and Jr Welterweights at Welterweight..your status is BOUND to be questioned as you're claiming this status..oh wait..

Floyd decided to retire. Nothing we can do about that. Kind of like when barry sanders and jordan retired. They could have still went on, but chose not too. Floyd is now back and cotto has suffered to pretty bad losses so this fight would probably never happen. The dates you listed would have been a great time to make the fight. Arum had done a great job promoting cotto and people considered cotto floyd's biggest challenge. IMO floyd beats cotto all day every day so to me it's not that big of a deal they didn't fight, but i can definitely see why people would want a cotto vs floyd fight then, especially since most people just want to see him lose and they dont care who beats him. Therefore unfortunately no matter what floyd does it will never be enough because their will always bee someone else he's 'scared' of.

You can't compare the Pac situation with the Cotto situation bro. Pac at this time is where he could make crazy ass demands just like Floyd. Cotto at that time didn't have the previlage to make crazy ass demands. Or as 50-50 split maybe not even 60-40 split. There would of been no OST demand to kill the fight. They would be no 10mil per pound penalty.
Two different scenarios. Cotto is not a diva with a b, was not a draw like Pac, didn't have a loud mouth trainer.
So you can't make that assumption that they couldn't work it out with Pac they wouldn't be able to work it out with Cotto. Two totally different fighters, egos, and circumstances,
That wasnt the point I was making. If you recall how Bob was talking aound that time he was saying that Floyd couldnt fill a flee market. He said all the numbers Floyd did were because of Oscar and Hatton. It has nothing to do with Cotto. It has more to do with Arum really downplaying Mayweather's worth and Floyd wouldn't o a 50/50 with Cotto. Look at it this way, when Pac and Floyd were trying to make a fight Bob didn't even ease up on hat sh!t talk for a second. Typically you do the sh!t talk after the fight fight or at least after the contract is signed. This guy was in the media badmouthing the people he was trying to do business with every other day. Sometimes Egos get in the way and I don't mean Cotto's.
My main focus is December 2007 - June 2008
both undefeated PRIME WELTERWEIGHTS coming off GREAT WINS from Mosley and Hatton..
2006 Cotto was still a 140lber getting his feet wet at 147lbs..

so then why would floyd fight cotto over baldi? and actually badli only had the wbc belt. The IBF and WBA became vacant. Judah ended up staying with the IBF and the WBA went to Collazo. Contrary to the times of now in which Berto was handed the wbc belt after floyd retired the wbc belt next to the ring belt has always been the biggest money maker.

Baldomir held all the major titles at 147 but gave up 2 of them cause he did`nt want to pay sanctioning fees.
I believe Cotto was still at 140 when Floyd fought Baldomir. And cotto was a WBO belt holder their.

I heard he only got $7mil to fight Baldo after rejecting the $8mil offer to fight Margarito..don't know how true that is neither..bunch of rumors I suppose..
now the contradiction there is..He goes for money not titles..right?..yet when he got asked why he took on Baldo for less money he said Baldo was the lineal champ at 147..:wtf1:
That's because at the time floyd moved up in weight all he was doing was chasing delahoya. When he was at 140 he called out judah at 147 and wanted him right away. Judah at the time was the most dangerous ww and held all the belts. Judah was the last ww king the division has had and floyd wanted to fight him knowing that if he won he would have all his belts and be in a perfect negotiating spot for a delahoya fight. Judah fuked up the plans by lossing some of his belts to baldimore so floyd had to get those from baldi and then get the last one judah had to be in a good position to negotiate with de la hoya for money. Floyd said at 140 he would collect all the belts at 147 and then challenge delahoya. that's why you so often see these kind of pictures:

Floyd got at least 8 million to fight Baldomir and Cotto was a bigger name then Baldomir and Arum was offering 8 mil To Floyd to fight Margarito. So why can`t Arum offer Floyd 10 mil to fight Cotto?Cotto was a much bigger name then Marg at that time.
On top of that..Cotto hadn't even had a fight at 147 yet..and he wasn't a big draw really..his name got BIG after what he did to Judah..
Floyd got at least 8 million to fight Baldomir and Cotto was a bigger name then Baldomir and Arum was offering 8 mil To Floyd to fight Margarito. So why can`t Arum offer Floyd 10 mil to fight Cotto?Cotto was a much bigger name then Marg at that time.
can you tell me what titles cotto held and what titles baldi held at that time?

Floyd was going to retire after Baldo fight.....he was sick of boxing and the criticism.......and Delahoya weanted to pay him peanuts for a rematch...he left to up his price.......
how could anyone criticize him for fighting an argentinian journeyman on ppv?
you can search it yourself. I clearly remember evangalista give a video interview and mentioned them not being ready for a floyd fight. If you care that much about it do some searching. I don't live on the internet therefore im not one of those that cares for "show me a link". that's gets pretty annoying. It's like you explaining lewis was so out of shape for the vitali fight and vitali was a last minute sub which threw off all his training and you have some idiot say "show me a link or its not true"

I'm waiting on a link or video to support that..I've yet to see anything relating to that..it's hearsay to me still..got anything?..

that was a lame ass video edited by some edit. I know you have a brain to realize that's nothing more than an edited version. Funny he cuts out when he says lives in puerto rico then adds his own screen to say he means he lives too far, but conveniently leaves out the rest of floyds sentence. Geez is this what nsb has come to??
What else could he have answered like that to?..
"...because he lives in Puerto Rico"
You think they asked him "Hey Floyd..how come you don't kick it and hang out with Miguel??"..
I understand that it was edited and pretty annoying at that..but it was still funny as hell when he said that shit..cuz I couldn't think of another question that they could have asked him where he would answer with that..
OMG!!..
at 2:30...SO he did say "because he lives in Puerto Rico!"...
LMMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
