More important than who is WHEN.
Well he's going to the HOF period and he should because of his accomplishments and big fights.
Unfortunately, he won't be called and ATG. But credit given to him for the fights he has fought (even if just for high profile money).
Just imagine had he WON all his big fights....
Mosley - undefeated, top P4Per
Mosley 2
Hopkins - MW champ, top P4P
Trinidad - undefeated, top P4P
Mayweather - undefeated, top P4P
Vargas
Whitaker
Chavez
Pacquiao - top P4P
Quartey
whew...imagine that...
Please somebody tell me.
Good question. I believe he is a definite Hall of Famer (in the ring).
His contributions outside the ring have definitely impact the sport, especially the impact on the marketing/promotional effort for the sport. He's also has created schools and business ventures in his community.
SO...maybe he is an all time great when it comes to envdevours in and out the ring.
He whooped Tito and beat Mosley the second time, you can't talk about his controversial wins without talking about the times Oscar was f***ed over. It's a huge double standard. He is easily on the level of Trinidad and Mosley, if not better.
I guess it depends on what you call an ATG, if you are talking top 20 or top 50, Oscar may not make that. If you are listing the top 100 fighters ever, there's no way you leave Oscar off that and that makes him an ATG to me, not to mention the fact he kept the sport relevant after Tyson and before Mayweather and Pacquiao.
As much as i don't like him he is better than Trinidad and Mosley. Trinidad had limited footwork, a quality fighter with good movement who can smother his left would always give him problems. As for Mosley i thought he lost to ODLH the second time and he was juiced to the gills----> EPO, THG, Modanofil and Testosterone.........
What has floyd done to warrant his ATG status if he retires today?
Well he's beaten future HOF's and he's beaten them unquestionably. As Lampley put it "these are not close fights....where Floyd's dominance is somehow being questioned"
If you question Floyd's claim to ATG status, then Pac's claim is certainly questionable......no matter how you slice it their resume's are equal, and in fact i would almost favour Floyd's resume........additionally Pac's dominance has been questioned on more than one occassion.
ODLH is a man of 1990's and some of 2000.
he is one of the most exciting fighter since Mike Tyson is declining...
He is the CashCow.. hence if he beat both PBF and Pacman.. then when will you
put this guy huh???
Hes not a great fighter. Hes not on those fighters levels. Get it bro.

Oscar was dominant at 135 but two losses to Mosley, as well as Trinidad, Hopkins and Mayweather keep him from being called great. He had to win those fights to get to the elite status of fighters. Controversial scores against Quartey and past prime Whitaker don't help. Oscar's best win to me was over Vargas. And that was after Trinidad ruined Vargas IMO. He did have a great left hand but his right was not really used effectively until after he hired Floyd Mayweather sr.
Couldn't be put any better than this.

Those fights were so close. Some could easily be wins for Oscar.
Great fighter in my eyes, first guy to stop Chavez - actually did it twice. Won over Pernell (past prime, I agree - but none the less, he won). Beat Camacho and alot of others solid fighters. Had the heart to move all the way up and face the giant - Bernard Hopkins.
He obviously beat Trinidad... no one who isn't from PR can dispute that (suck it PR fans!).
The Whitaker fight was really a ton of nothing... counting who landed more jabs is a pathetic way of deciding a fight. Honestly... deciding how effective you thought a single punch was is an atrocious way of deciding who won a fight.
You should watch the ODLH-Quartey fight. I watched it, knowing Oscar won, and was pretty shocked... the decision was actually unacceptable in my opinion.
In the bold, best way to describe it.
I always have a scorecard for every fight that has a controversial decision, so I'll PM you with my scorecard once I watch.
Been a long time since I watched it but I never got the impression that Quartey was robbed. Going by everyone's reaction, I might have to rewatch that. It's been long, I mean really really long since I watched it.
Against Whitaker, although Oscar would be the agressor sometimes, I saw him eat alot of jabs on the way in. So that has to count for something, but the thing that bothered me the most was how playful Whitaker got. I mean, Oscar isn't the kind of opponent you want to clown around against, but Whitaker took that shit to another level. If he would have faught more seriously, he would have won more decisively. Don't know if it's me, but Whitaker didn't seem to want it.
Shit, his will to win looked alot stronger against Tito.

I really don't get how people could score Oscar winning the Quartey fight, but losing the Whitaker fight.
Oscar closed hard in the Quartey fight, but got beaten up too many rounds to win.
Whitaker and Oscar did nothing to each other. I thought Whitaker won, but... honestly, someone thinks De La Hoya won? I can accept that.
Quartey beat Oscar up a lot worse than Whitaker... for sure, and I think Oscar lost both fights.

I had Oscar beating Tito, Mosley (Rematch, wasn't even close either). As for his win over Quartey, I never understood how that was a robbery; although it's been a while since I've watched it again. I also had him losing to Strum and Pernell Whitaker. However, I can see why he got the win against Whitaker, I wouldn't call that a robbery at all, it could have gone either way.

Yet he almost beat Mayweather at the end of his career!! lol
if you think he almost beat Mayweather you don't know shit. He won 4 rds maximum, i gave him 3.

I agree... everyone should look at the top of their game in their fifth weight class.
Let's all take a moment to remember how awesome the guy in your signature looked in his fourth weight class in his last bout against Joshua Clottey.
