Say losing money was at risk if you aren't there to fight, or got an even bigger bonus for a KO.. you'd want to give a show even more if you got a knock out bonus or something like that and would think twice about just showing up to spar.
I think it might make boxing a little more entertaining and interesting.
thoughts?
Like I care what some ramdon idiot on the internet has to say. John Duddy, Chavez Jr., Yuri Foreman, Tye Flieds they win but who the fuk wants to see them fight.
So you resort to name calling? It's obvious who the idiot is here.
Its not a good idea. You cant force fighters to change their styles. Thats what makes boxing unique ,the fact that every body fights different.
Thats like forcing every NBA player to dunk. Then you dont even have a sport.
Boxing= Hit and not get hit.
Well said Burner. Just because Mosley/Pacquiao/Valero always look for the KO doesn't mean every fighter in their weight class has to do it too.
Like Nate Robinson is 5 7-5 9? and he dunks, so that means every other player his height has to dunk? Their are players taller than him that are unable to dunk but are better than him, they play smart.
You just compared two African-Americans to a guy who had the support of all of Puerto Rico.
Floyd Mayweather is a pure boxer and has made more money then Tito and is a better fighter then Tito. So I dont get what point you are making with that.
Dirrell and Ward are both green and very young and still coming up. They are on the cusp of Stardom.
Lol this idiot acts as if Puerto Rico is a huge place there's only about 3.5 million puerto ricans compared to billions of americans. African americans outnumber us at least 50 to 1 yet you couldn't bother enough of them to watch Winky or Bernard fight to beat Tito payperview numbers. You know why because they were boring, Tyson was african american so was Roy Jones for some reason people wanted to watch them fight. Could it have been the fact that they just didn't win and but brought exitement to everyone of their fights.
So you are admiting Floyd is a boring fighter well that always wasn't the case. Floyd used to be exiting to watch, he used to fight the best and he looked good doing it at 135 that is and Gatti. He build up his fame and fought the right opponents at the right time and is cashing in on just his name.
Dirrell and Ward will never amount to much they win but both are very boring to watch and will never create the buzz to make them stars.
You couldn't be more wrong. Every sport is about winning, if you don't like it, don't watch it.
Like I care what some ramdon idiot on the internet has to say. John Duddy, Chavez Jr., Yuri Foreman, Tye Flieds they win but who the fuk wants to see them fight.
Fighters like Winky and Hopkins won all the time they both beat Trinidad yet they never made the kind of money that Tito did o had nothing close to the fanbase that Tito had. Reason why people actually wanted to see Trinidad fight even if he were to fight today he would make or money and get a shitload more buys than Hopkins and Winky las three fights combined.
That's why your boys Dirrell and Ward will never get anywhere they just want to win and don't care if the look like shit in the proccess.

Since when is not just about winning?

No the point of this thread is for boxing to do something about fighters that show up to run and stink up the place. This is profesional boxing is just not about winning is also about entertainment if your not willing to entertain then stay amateur and go to the olympics.

They actually do give bonuses to teams who make the playoffs and winning the entire thing, so there is an incentive to win on top of the salary you're already getting.
But, I think adding a KO bonus wouldn't necessarily hurt. It's up to the fighter to take the risk and go for the KO or simply win and collect his purse anyway. Wasn't BHop vs Roy II based on if one of them won by KO they'd get a certain %?

That's not right. We always want a good fight. But to tell a man he can't be paid in full for his ring work since people outside the ring don't approve is horseshit.
Bingo!!!!
I dont have to watch them. I dont have to like their fights. And I dont BTW. Which is the POINT of this thread.

Thanks for admiting you're an hypocrite :).
That went over your head. I dont like the way they fight and Im not in favor of a rule forcing them to fight more aggressive.
Did you even read what I said?
Bingo!!!!

QUOTE=AdamantiumPI;7971479]In Pride MMA fighting in Japan, refs would penalize fighters 10% of their fight purse of inactivity (yellow card). This practice did work in pushing the pace of a fight. But pushing the issue for counter punchers and defensive fighters in boxing would be unfair.
I miss Pride
Me too, it was the only MMA that was watchable.
Yet, you're always criticizing the Klitschkos for their style, hypocrisy?
Bingo!!!!

Pride used to that, they would give fighters a yellow car for not engaging or avoiding the fight. The yellow card meant you would lose 10% of your purse and you could get more than one. It would be a great idea for boxing specially for the now common tactic of potshotting, running and hugging.
You can also say
Boxing= hit your opponent more than he hits you
Your favorite fighter aint exactly "slick"...
I never said Williams was slick. Williams style is why he'll only be boxing 2 more years tops, atleast at a high level.
Stupid idea.
If you don't like a particular style then turn off the T.V.
If what a fighter does isn't illegal or a cause for concern, they have every right to use whatever their method is to win the fight.
I agree 110%. There job is to win not look good.
