A TKO is done because of a fighters power.
They were able to make the other fighter stop, whether by knockout or a technical stoppage, which is a testament to their power.
no its not a testament to his power at all. it's a testament to his accuracy but not power. if he had power with his accuracy his opponents would be knocked out of the fight already. and when the corner stops it not the fighter how can you say he made the other fighter stop? he didn't.
lots of people on here claim he has underrated power. evidence he doesn't is that if he's hitting someone with flush shots over and over and they aren't getting hurt or going down and the corner has to stop it to save them which has happened many times in his career.

Okay, underrated power does not constitute 1 punch KO power, nor does it constitute feather fists.
Mayweather falls inbetween both.
You make it sound like thing's in the Boxing World are Black and White, with no shades of gray(Either a guy MUST have 1 punch KO power- Black, or he's weak- White). You can still hit hard without being some concussive KO puncher, and Mayweather hits hard enough just to score(He snaps people's heads back with his straight right, and he's stunned people with his left hook before). If he didn't he wouldn't be able to outpoint people, because everyone would just walk through his punches and get to him anyways.
Who claimed Floyd had KO power?
People reach hard to hate on him anyway they can.
And what made corner stoppages not legit? The point of a boxing match is to win anyway you can.
IMO, I'd say corner stoppages are just as bad as getting 1 punch KOed(Most of the time anyways unless its a brutal KO where the guy can't breate or something).
That means that the guy is getting brutally beaten and not even putting up enough of a fight for the corner to think he even has a puncher's chance.
You're arguing 1 punch Knock the fvck out vs taking all around punishment in a fight. Either way you got a beat down.

even baldomir got a legit stoppage over gatti and not a corner stoppage like most of floyds "knockouts" such power!

LOL.... This is just a proof that floyd cherry pick his opponents that doesn't have a chance to beat him but still gomez did it more impressively than him.
and hatton stopped jlc---what did floyd do to hatton? and do you think gomez would be competition for floyd? i'm laughing at the ts---
no fighter beat gatti the way floyd did----the punches landed on floyd were single digits every round---i think the highest gatti landed on floyd when it came to punching him was 7 punches---grazing punches at that----floyd was smaller than gatti also, and dominated him worst than de la hoya did----the ts must be a pac fan---
pac beat oscar worst than floyd did right? watch how bad floyd beats manny after he dusts shane----
Alfonso Gomez people! So much for Floyd's most impressive win. Can you say Cherry Picker?Stupid ****ing pactard. Did you notice, perchance, that Gatti retired following that fight, because he was shot?
Gatti didn't belong in the same ring with Floyd though, and Floyd showed it. I don't really consider Gatti any of Floyd's greatest wins. The fight with Augustus, for example, was far better.
Clearly the man's point is that some of Mayweather's "great" wins aren't as impressive as some make them out to be.
Not that Gomez is better than Mayweather lol
Thank you, I think that pretty obvious... funny how these simpletons miss the point of the thread, it's like talking to children sometimes.
..I agree TS..and look how quick Foreman handled Frazier vs Ali-Frazier..Foreman stopped him quicker..and that bum Ali has the nerve to call himself "The Greatest"
..what a joke these so-called "greatest" fighters are...
Yes because we all know that was the same Gatti Floyd fought.
he also made castillo quit. But this fighter were shot by the time he fought them. They weren't even champ at the time
Gatti was the WBC champ at 140. He defended the titles twice by KO before facing Floyd. Gatti had nothing at WW. Baldomir and Gomez knocked him out. Two very soft punchers.
People always say Gatti was shot vs. Floyd, but he was coming off winning the last two fight of the trilogy vs. Ward which gave him a title shot. He then reeled off a championship run before fighting Floyd. People like to forget that.
/Thread Now!!!!! :boxing:
Dear god...If you're a true boxing fan, do not reward this thread with any more replies.
PLEASE, let this thread die, whether you're a Floyd fan Pacquiao fan or even a Chavez Jr fan (well in that case you need to die yourself).
It boggles my mind how people can be so childish so often and not be ashamed of themselves...

sad but true, gatti was a d level punching bag his whole career.

So what you're saying is at the time that Floyd fought Gatti, and at 140, Gomez could have beat Gatti? And I guess Gomez's victory over Gatti was better that DLH's as well? Idioit
