One key development is Juan Manuel Lopez, one of their bright, young stars, moving over to Showtime for his next outing on July 10th in Puerto Rico against Bernabe Concepcion.
"HBO said that they didn’t have a date for him and that we should do for him what we want," explained the veteran promoter. "But Showtime is interested in him as well, and all our fighters are free agents in that way. The problem has been solved in Puerto Rico as far as the high-definition trucks; they have one now and so we’re going to have a doubleheader in Puerto Rico. They’re working on the second fight; it’ll be a good fight and we have a lot of fighters and we want to get them as much exposure as possible and we want to do as few pay-per-views as we can." http://www.maxboxing.com/news/main-lead/the-latin-snake-returns
anyway... if this move from hbo is gonna help us to get more even fights!!! IM ON FOR IT!!!
:boxing:
Agreed, I hope HBO reject more fights like this one from any promoter including GBP.
i know juanma said that about the 150k offer that bob told him that he made to caba's manager, the funny thing is that caba's manager claimed that it was a lie and that bob never even called him, i think that's what bob just told juanma but in reality the cat never even tried to make the fight with caba
I also dont believe the offer, I dont think Arum made any offer to the Caba camp, Arum would rather put his own fighters together than feed them to other rival.
Thats a lowball offer and you know it.The guy is practically unified champ at 22 for years and you expect him to get paid less than Juanma?
Que barbaro.
how come is that a low ball offer if is his biggest payday and a shot to the spotlight???
when zab judah fougth cory spinks he got paid only 100K...
and what happend he make the most of it... became the unified ww....same shit goes with caballero.. thats how the game goes...
it seems like he got a winky wright syndrome at the last minute....now hes risking more for less!!!
bad management!! :boxing:
Like HBO has anything better to show on saturday nights that they dont have a date available... the rather premiere some movie that came out on dvd a couple months ago lol
Sure Why not!!
And then in another statement, Leon Arguelles Caballeros manager admitted the 150K offe was made. But i dont have a link to prove it, so this is just some random poster, with some rumor, but it is true!!!1
I'll take it with a grain of salt, but even if it's true, you only give those types of take it or leave it deals when you don't really want that fight.
I could give you dozens of examples of fighters making those types of offers to a fighter that they don't really want and if they do want it, they basically want to rape the other. Hopkins made one of these offers to Adamek not too long ago.
I can see old slick Bobby pulling that on Lopez and Cab's people..
I strongly doubt that if Arum went to Lopez and was like you will be fighting for 250K against Caballero Lopez would turn it down.
I'm sorry but these dudes are professional fighters. They aren't "scared".
All in a days work for Arum. The geezer is old, but he isn't senile yet. Do you think it's a coincidence Pavlik-Abraham didn't happen? HBO wanted it, they probably would've given up a couple million for that fight. Then another million or 2 from the German network Sauerland/Abraham is signed to.
When these guys really want a fight negotiations go smoothly and the fight gets made. The only way shit isn't made is if there is a major hurdle. That Mayweather-Pacquiao shit was a dog and pony show btw. 2 months isn't enough to promote a fight of that magnitude or enough time to prepare for the most difficult opponent of their career.

thiis is the b.s. from juanma when celestino called him out. proof that he wants no parts of pelenchin.
What I don't understand is, how can you offer a 150K payday to a more proven guy in the division and at the same time demand over a $ million. It doesn't go together. If you are offering peanuts to one guy that is more proven to you, you don't demand a steak while he gets the peanuts. Cab has always had that bitch shook.
Sure Why not!!

If Lopez is such a warrior, he'll vacate his belt and won't fight the Vasquez-Marquez winner. But he'll fight them while making up the excuse that they are his mandatory. Watch. And then after that fight is over with he'll call his countryman Wilfredo Gomez out of retirement. I don't think Gomez could make 122 or 126 anymore though could he? Gomez would probably fight Caballero before Juan Ma would even now though.
Doesn't HBO pay the big-bucks? Hbo has the better announcers too, I like them bickering at each other.
Jim Lampley KO's the whole Showtime team!
BANG, BANG, BANG....
You want some more, here you go
BANG!!
That's exactly what I think.
You don't just make a take it or leave it offer when you're trying to negotiate a fight. No way Caballero and his team just reject this fight.
I can see old slick Bobby pulling that on Lopez and Cab's people..

I wont complain, because this fight is not a big FW fight. Juanma will KO this idiot in 6 rounds or less. The sad part is tha The winner of Marquez-Vazquez will be Juanmas mandatory. The winner of Yourdan-Caballero will be the mandatory to Gamboa per WBA rankings.
So Expect Juanma to fight either one on Sept; sadly
I dont care much for a Gamboa-Lopez fight. Lopezzzzz should fight John first for the lineage and ring title
oh reallyy..... and que pinga ha hecho juanma to deserve that shit lineal champ pliz :spank: he shouldnt fight john (and i know he wont) until he fights gamboa the same goes for gamboa

Max what the hell is on your lip BAng.
Ah I love it when i get bored at work i can just go to youtube and look that up and i realize how great life is lol.
That isnt a bad decision, The rematch was one of the most talked about fight for 2009 after what happen in the first fight and the first fight was a good match up.
sorry but paulie is not that good, diaz also. they both aint hbo worthy. juanma vs concepcion aint hbo worhty either.
The right move in my opinion. Lopez v Concepcion is not worthy of headlining a HBO card and they should hold out on him until Arum gives us the match-ups we want. Or sticks him on an undercard.
word of god
