The true fault lies with the referee for his poor performance last evening. The illegal shot was a result of Lawerence Cole being out of position (as he had been on numerous other occasions).
It is the referee's responsibility to intercede between downed fighters, to break the action in the event of a slip, knockdown or other event.
Lawerence Cole was nowhere near the fighters at the time of the slip/knockdown and dropped the ball. He also made countless other errors that evening, most notably incorrect judgement calls on slips and knockdowns.
I think Abraham's quote sums it up:
"I wish him all the best and hope he is fine. I thought I could still punch because the referee did not stop us. In the heat of the moment I was not watching his feet but only his head. As a professional boxer, you always try and pressure."
All that said, props to Dirrell for putting on a good performance, but I am still questioning whether his reaction to the punch was legitimate. Also, why the hell does he fall down so much?
This fight was another taint on the Super 6 tournament.
Why is it that Dirrell is the only guy slipping like this? The guys that creates / paints the logos on the canvas has done it before and you see it everytime, they use a material that is non slippery. Isn't it that Dirrell use this as an excuse for his tactic (to take a "dive" when being under attack?
People always slip on the print, idk what you're talking about. Dirrell does more because he moves more.
But that was not Dirrell's weird slips like in the Froch fight. You could see him slip on the print.

I agree with that. I never thought Abraham did anything intentional, I think he was just fighting hard and legitamitely didn't realize that Dirrell was down.

And his reaction was legit, he got clipped RIGHT on the chin man....that separates you from your senses.

.
This is Dirrell's tactic when the going gets tough, to simulate a slip so there is a stop in the action and the referee will separate them. He did it against Froch and again against Abraham and the last slip did determine the outcome of the fight.

Abe has been fighting long enough to know not to hit a fighter when he is down. He was clearly down a good 3 seconds before Abe whacked him. Abe deserves all the blame
Yeah a fighter is taught to keep fighting until the ref halts the action. The ref was nowhere to bee seen when Dirrell went down, and during he was down too.
