According to BILD Wilfried Sauerland, promotor of Arthur Abraham, is fuming by last nights events and disqualification:
"We'll protest this result. We want a new fight!"
To the tabloid Abraham says:
"Should I have waited untill he raised again? Every fighter must take his chance to land the KO-punch. As the referee did not go between us I felt it was OK to punch."
There isn't anything to protest, he hit the man while he was down. It's right there in the video. They need to accept that AA lost, and was going to lose if it went to the scorecards. And for AA not give Dirrell any kind of credit does show he's kind of a sore loser or maybe he was in shock he had just lost.
^^^^^^, this.
What a bunch of classless sore-losers....
They should face it,their man got his ass kicked...the only protest should be about him being suspended or not.
Why should he get suspended? How can they suspend him and not suspend other fighters who made the same infraction?

:ugh: When was the last time a fighter was suspended after a DQ?

Exactly my thoughts.
I bet on AA to win via late KO. He KOed, but it was a clear foul. DQ was justified. And he should take the DQ like a man and not try to bring this to court (rematch).
And, BN, I don't think AA was "schooled" by Dirrell. Dirrell was better, yes, but not that much better that I'd call the fight a "schooling".
In my opinion Dirrell was leading big on the scorecards (8-2) and he was showing the world how to beat AA. Of course we all knew in advance that AA could be beaten with speed, determination and concentration, but it's of course easier said than done.
Dirrell showed it just the way it wshould be. So to me he schooled AA for ten rounds, but of course the fight wasn't over and AA was definetely catching up and started connecting with some heavy blows while Dirrell was tiring. Most of all I'm saddened by the fact that we did not get to see the final 1½ rounds as this had drama written all over.
I was looking forward to seeing how it went. I thought AA scored a legit KD against Dirrell, and was starting to land more regularly, so the last round would have been interesting, IMO. Shame that either man was robbed of a clean win, I'm sure Dirrell is unhappy that he had to win viw DQ.
I hope so. I've always thought of Abe as being a decent guy, and have always supported him. I even argue that it was an unintended foul, but when he comes out with this shit... :wtf:

AA thought he could get away with just a point deduction, and probably assumed there would be a rest period for Dirrell and that the fight would continue afterward. Now he's learned the hard way (and hopefully other boxers will take notice) that it's not worth the risk to abuse the rules hoping for a lucky break from the referee.
You're arguing ethics. Not legality.
The punch was legal. The only way its illegal is if the ref says "stop" or if the fall was caused by a punch.
Dirrell was fair game.
Cole did, though almost in conjunction with the punch. I think he yelled "no, no" as he ran to get where he should have been in the first place (someplace near the action).
The Marquess of Queensberry rules
1. To be a fair stand-up boxing match in a 24-foot ring, or as near that size as practicable.
2. No wrestling or hugging allowed.
3.The rounds to be of two minutes duration, and one minute's time between rounds.
4. If either man falls through weakness or otherwise, he must get up unassisted, 10 seconds to be allowed him to do so, the other man meanwhile to return to his corner, and when the fallen man is on his legs the round is to be resumed and continued until the three minutes have expired. If one man fails to come to the scratch in the 10 seconds allowed, it shall be in the power of the referee to give his award in favour of the other man.
5. A man hanging on the ropes in a helpless state, with his toes off the ground, shall be considered down.
6. No seconds or any other person to be allowed in the ring during the rounds.
7. Should the contest be stopped by any unavoidable interference, the referee to name the time and place as soon as possible for finishing the contest; so that the match must be won and lost, unless the backers of both men agree to draw the stakes.
8. The gloves to be fair-sized boxing gloves of the best quality and new.
9. Should a glove burst, or come off, it must be replaced to the referee's satisfaction.
10. A man on one knee is considered down and if struck is entitled to the stakes.
11. That no shoes or boots with ****es or sprigs be allowed.
12. The contest in all other respects to be governed by revised London Prize Ring Rules
Dirrell was off his feet so no punch should occur
haha lame ass attempt by AA...this will not get overturned...he was getting his ass waxed, the tide did not turn...Dirrell was still in control in the 11th as he was for 95% of the fight...AA still had a puncher's chance though, but from the outset it looked that's all he had the whole fight...hope Dirrell comes out ok
And you probably think Martisyoan deserved a UD against Kassim Ouma too? Lol as long as your Armenian boys come out on top, that's all that matters to you I guess.
not a UD but def. a split decision at worst... he landed the cleaner more flush shots, watch the fight again
and the Oscar goes to...
ANDREEEE The Matrix DIRRELLLLLLLLLLLLL

Abraham was wrong to throw that punch... but hey heat of the moment so **** it you fight... let the ref worry about that.
We didn't see Dirrell stop when Arthur took a low blow and took a second to breathe, he was ready to take Abrahams head off with a huge shot, why shouldn't Abraham do the same when Dirrell is lookin in his eyes and isnt CLEARLY down.
