"Pacquiao is a non-American who doesent speak english yet he still is a big draw"<<<
this is not a legitimate or valid line or any thing amazing. "Its amazing how 2 non americans filled 50k seats."
At the end of the day the 2 biggest names in boxing are Mayweather and Pacquiao, Pacquiao SHOULD be doing good numbers and he already has high expectations to meet no matter where he came from. He has been on 12 PPV's in the U.S. excluding the times he has been on regular HBO. Some fight fan sitting at home on fight night: "Well I dont know it I should be ordering this, Pacquiao is not American...but **** it. Im going to order it just because its Pacquiao."<<< it doesent work that way. If a fighter is known, then he is known, its simple.
how many americans have done aswell as pac in america?
you pactards are full of endless excuses. giveit up already. Floyd is a much bigger draw and thats a fact.Yea not to mention it wouldnt be fair comparing non-americans who fought in other times to Pacquiao. 80's and 90's was when the HW division was gold for fans. In the 80's we had Marvin and Sugar on nationally televised commercials for Coca Cola, Domino's, Pacific Bell, and countless other media gigs. ETC for the 90's with other fighters. Right now in present time, name more than 2 American super stars? Do we not live in a time where people say boxing is dead? Do we not live in a time where the Heavy weight division is absolute crap? And here we have the most famous icon of the 12th largest country in the world(2nd largest Asian group in the U.S.) on an amazing run and I am supposed to be shocked when he brings in good numbers? :dunno:
BTW name a non-american that has done numbers in america? You have 15 years of PPV history to try and look through to find someone..........What non-american had a run like Pac in a time like this? Pac's accomplishments is what made him a big star in America regardless of where hes from.
You are basically saying that Pacs draw is something of an amazing miracle because the American boxing fan population sits at home on fight nights and wonders:
"hmmm should I order Pacquiaos fight tonight? I dont know if I should, hes non-American....HONEY!! HONEY WHERE ARE YOU?!"
"yes dear, im in the kitchen"
"should we order Pacquiaos fight tonight even though hes non-American?!?! or should we support all the other American stars on PPV? God knows we have so many"
"yes dear, order Pacquiaos fight just because its Pacquiao instead of all the other American stars that will be on PPV tonight"
"ok dear, its done. sorry Timothy Bradley."
Pac fans always try to make Pac bigger and better then what he is.
Hes a lightweight beating WW's.
And now his numbers are impressive even though hes one of the most recognizable athletes in the world.
I see whats going on here...lol.
There are 30 million Asians living in America. You act like America is a single race country. America is a melting pot. It is far less impressive for an Asian to become popular in America than say for an Asian to become popular in Germany or Russia.
Im not disputing that. All I'm saying is that the bulk of Pac's fan base isn't factored into his ppv numbers. So for him to still put up the numbers he does is impressive.
It does matter because the biggest part of pac fan base isn't equated into ppv numbers (filipino's watching in the philipines, and also asian's in the pacific area). Thats like looking at Hatton's numbers without adding his buys in England, Koki Kameda numbers without adding the people watching his fight in japan, and the list goes on and on. Point is this; When the biggest part of your fan base isn't taken into consideration, then its damn impressive to still do numbers in a foreign country.
this dude really got banned?
How many non-americans and non-mexicans have done well in PPV's over the years?
Not too many, Trinidad being one of the very few.Compare the number of American stars in the 80's, 90's, early 2000's compared to now. I think its safe to say that Pacquiao doesent have much competition to go up against. Like I said, people know Pacquiao and he fills the boxing need of the boxing fans in America. Pacquiao and Mayweather will be the only HBO PPV's this year.
Pac fights in the phillipines are not on PPV. But Its not impressive because Hatton and Pac are still the bigger names in America. If you are name you are name. Do you really think if Pacquiao and Hatton were out of the picture then Pavlik, Alexander, and Ward would all automatically be mega stars? Would they draw 700k+ on PPV just because they are American?
pav, alexander and ward would not draw 700k unless it was a megafight against another star. Also you just proved my point...pac ppv's arent on ppv in the phillipines. If they were he would do 1.5-2 million buys each and every fight. That is were the bulk of his fan base is. May, Pav, and all these other american fighters whole fan base is basically in america (atleast the bulk of it). So again...yes it is impressive that a non-american is doing those type of numbers.
BTW name a non-american that has done numbers in america? You have 15 years of PPV history to try and look through to find someone..........
Whether he speaks good English or not. Hes a star. Hes suppose to do good numbers at this stage of his career.Exactly.......
If Daisuke Nakagawa, in present time, had the same exact exposure and accomplishments of Pacquiao and he was the most famous greatest hero of Japan, you can bet he would be next to Mayweather as the biggest name in America.
And also, There is no Phillipino more famous than Pacquiao, he has his face on stamps ffs. Phillipinos are the 2nd largest Asian group in the US and that is saying somethine because every where I go I see asians.

PAC is not an American so it doesn't help much. Think about it, Pac can't say what Floyd said. American need to support me like they support the US troops. If Pac said that they would say FU.
