He sees Haye as a easier way to win a Heavyweight title rather than fight Wladimir. I mean you can't blame the guy. He would still be challenging a Heavyweight for the first time and Haye is no slouch.
Yeah, it was good enough for Roy Jones.
Fighting a Klit would be an extreme risk...the size difference would be outrageous...
yep....fight night, were talking about a 60 lb. weight advantage.
it'd be more impressive to beat one of the klits, but you can't shake your head at hopkins fighting haye.
huge step up from roy j j.
You're kidding, right?
Hopkins, at 45, even making the move to Heavyweight to fight a decent contender would be a big risk, a big, young, fast powerful guy like Haye? He's taking a huge risk if he goes for that fight. When Jones went to heavyweight, in his prime, even he didn't go for Lewis, the top dog. He went for Ruiz, a respectable opponent and a huge risk, but he wasn't looking for Lewis...
I don't think he's so much ducking the Wlad or Vitali as he sees an easier opportunity to get a HW belt by fighting a guy more his size, who he thinks he can beat, who is also a draw.
I'd love to see Bhop try against the Klitschkos but i think they're too big, have too much a reach advantage, and fight a really safe style which probably wouldn't favor Bhop as much as fighting Haye
Looks that way.
Really Burner??? I am no fan of Haye, nor the klitch's...but to challenge (call out) any one of those HWs is pretty impressive. Haye is a younger, bigger, stronger fighter than Hopkins. IMO it would be VERY interesting to see how Hopkins does with a fighter with those advantages. I am not sure if Hopkins could win, but I wouldn't put it passed him to pull off an upset. Also he would be squashing the "he only picks on smaller fighters" stigma he's developed over the years.
Well both Haye and Ruiz are signed or in affiliation with GBP, Hopkins would have to sign his life away at an old age to get a chance at either Klits, And they would destroy him anyway if they allow him to get in the ring with them.
Well, it's not really cherrypicking since he's ancient and if he moved to the HW division obviously he should try to fight the weakest champion, he has no chance against either Klitschko.
Looks that way.

I actually haven't heard anything of Hopkins-Haye. But if it being fought at HW then I think it's a bad move for Hopkins. Him being a cruiserweight is somewhat acceptable, but a fight above 200lbs seems a little much for Bernard. I don't think he's cherry picking Haye. I don't even think he can beat Haye. Now if the fight was at 175 or cruiserweight, Hopkins would destroy Haye.
I know age shouldn't be a question but a 45 year old maybe 190 ish guy max man aint gonna do shit to either Klit.
Heck I don't have him beating Haye, whether Haye is partly with GBP or not.
