Who has the best/most effective defense in boxing right now. Let's say over the last 3-4 years. Who's deffense effectively allows them to dominate?
Poll coming....
Talking about defensive fighters, everyone hypes footwork and IQ, but people forget patience is the real weapon. Same vibe applies outside boxing too. You don’t rush, you read the situation, and you protect your bankroll. I’ve seen that mindset carry over when I’m chilling on https://ricky-online-casino.org/, a licensed Australian casino platform with live games and sports betting. You don’t swing wild, you pick spots, manage risk, and know when defence beats offence. Too many punters go all-in emotionally and get clipped early, just like reckless fighters in the ring.
Mastery indeed!
Thus I want him to be tested with Manny's southpaw stance, speed/quickness and then some.
Yeah he has defense mastered. He doesnt have to throw a million jabs to keep people off of him.
You and eaner. I've been wrestling with it for a day. It didn't sound right that wlad's d was more effective than floyds but there were a few hurdles I was having trouble getting over. I was also thinking about bhop, but I eliminated him on my own. He's a great defensive fighter as well.
I hate wlad's style but there's no denying it's effectiveness.
You can't hate either Klitschko for doing what they do.. they take their natural talents and assests and use them to the best of their ability.

Who changed your mind? ;)

Think I've decided. Floyd's ability to befuddle many different types of fitters, bigger and smaller, brawler and boxer (recently), and the way he can change his defensive gameplan on the fly makes him slightly more effective.
Wlad 2
Calderon 3, he's slowing down and getting hit a lot more nowadays.

Mayweather is the best defensive boxer in the world, the others are good but not as good as mayweather
But being tall and having a long reach which keeps out of the way of your opponents punches is completely different then exercising fundamental blocking, parrying and slipping to defend punches.
And again.. we aren't saying Wlad doesn't do those things, but it is not to the extent that Floyd does.
Also going back to the point I made before... Wlads ability to hit you with his reach when you can't hit him, keeps his opponents from being able to come in.
It really does come down to Wlads offense being the main reason he doesn't get hit.
Keeping you at the end of a long HARD, HARD jab will keep any opponent away, and unable to come in to actually attempt to throw punches so that Wlad can actually defend it.
You can argue who gets hit more.. Wlad or Floyd.
But I will then in turn argue, the reasons for those statistics.
Floyd doesn't get hit because he exercises fundamental air tight defense, in a number of different ways.
Wlad doesn't get hit because he uses his height and reach to sustain a long hard jab that keeps his opponents away from him, and also keeps them hesitant to throw in the first place.
wlad definitely gets his less, HOWEVER, Floyd probably gets hit just as few tikes as wlad in the second half of his fights.
Good post btw.
I'm about to step into a meeting. Imma holler later.

mayweather hands down!
im going to have to say Floyd.... without thinking TOO much
Toney was money, but not in the last 3-4 years, same with Winky
Currently, it's Mayweather.
1 PBF is so sleek
2. BHOP the clinching machine
Mayweather is the most effective defensive fighter in the world, no one else is even close
Um almost convinced by reed and eaner, the only thing I'm struggling with is how everyone seems to discredit wlad d due to his heigth. There is an art to fighting tall and I think he should get full credit for it (defensively). Pwill has a way longer reach than everyone. Dimimtrinko is taller than wlad. There is way more to it that discrediting his d b/cuz of his reach and heigth. He was a special talent and gameplan and executes, and I think it's as effective or more than floyds.
Just because it's not as varied and smooth doesn't mean it's not effective.
His firepower is more than floyds for sure, so this could be the answer too.
I still haven't figured out how many people have said wlad isn't really even a good defensive fighter.
Plus wlad flat out dominates everyone right now.

I dont see as height solely bruh
Height and strength Wlad is a very strong sonofabitch and unlike most strong guys can utilize it to his utmost advantage

So people who say hes not on Floyds level as far as defense are fools?
You didnt make a poit that he has good defense. You making the point that hes the BEST defensive fighter in all of boxing. Cmon man. Everyone has been giving you points. Wlad has GOOD d. Not Great D. And not anywhere near Floyds level.
This thread is saying Wlad has the best Defense in boxing which is just not true no matter how we spin it. Wlad wouldt even agree with this.
i said effective.
and I have said a few times in this thread that I could be convinced to change my mind. I have been waiting to be sold on floyd.
I said many times that floyd has the slickest d and this most defensive tools in boxing in this thread. stop reading what you want to read.
I will say this
the days of the Klitschkos being labelled one dimensional should be just about over
Correctomundo.
This is why I limited to the last 3-4 years. He has really come into his own and is just outboxing the crap out of people. Granted, not murders row, but he isn't even getting touched. Did Chagaev even breathe on him???
And I have a long history of not being a klit ballhugger.
Everyone talks about Manny's improvements, but Wlad's have been very close.
He is overlooked on PFP, and maybe rightfully so, but you can't tell me he shouldn't be considered.
He's not fighting joe louis and whatnot, but no one is even touching the guy.
