Cotto has manuel steward now...?? Can Steward counter Nazim ??
Cotto has Steward or is that just theorhetical? Anyways, that's one of the reasons he didn't las long against Pac, bc Cotto had shitty trainer. I say he beats Shane again with Steward.
If he's the Same Mosley that beat Margarito back in January of 09 then I think he would beat the crap out of cotto. Mosley old tho, That long layoff coulda ****ed him up
i think cotto can still take him. the only problems cotto has trouble with are pressure fighters and high volume punchers. shane is neither. when cotto boxes and uses the ring, he's great.
I see your reasoning but I still feel that cotto before the Margarito fight and after are different fighters. He doesn't fight with the same conviction.
I more than agree it could be wishful thinking on my part. Like I said I'll know more after he fights Foreman.
He kept coming forward because Torres wasn't the P4P best fighter in the world or a walking chin and he did ultimately end up outslugging him. Torres was a slugger who couldn't match Cottos skill, Pac was more skillful, faster, stronger, better stamina, anything you can think of what other choice did Cotto have but to retreat and try to outbox him?

cotto cant take big shots anymore. he dont have the killer instinct anymore. dont plant his feet to punch anymore. wants to defend like floyd and wind up getting battered. moves around far too much for his effective style. mosley would beat him now because cotto cant take mosley power shots as he did in their first matchup.
Always thought Mosley could've fought a better fight and I think Cotto has been softened up somewhat now because of the beatings he took against Margarito and Pacquiao, Mosley by knockout.
The Torres fight is what really illustrates the difference between cotto now and cotto then. Torres was a real slugger and he hurt cotto bad but he kept at it he still had the "heart" to stick with it and not retreat. I don't usually like to use the word "heart" when talking boxing but thats the best way to describe it in this case. I think its naive to say the only reason he kept coming forward against torres because he felt he could outslug him.

Thats fine you could be 100% right. After the Foreman fight I'll know for sure.
no doubt ... i plan on going to it and i'll be rooting for cotto without a doubt. i hope he still has enuf in the tank cause for me personally i really dunno.
Torres hurt him worse in the early rounds than Pac did. He kept coming because he still felt he could outslug Torres and his skill allowed him to do that. Against Pac his only option left was to outbox him otherwise he would have been KOd sooner. Pac was just a better fighter than Cotto in every way imaginable.

ya then we def gotta agree to disagree cause i really see something has been taken away from him ...

Yea Mosley may beat him because he has seen how to beat Cotto, but I dont think it would be because Cotto has lost anything too significant. I just think some people forget how Cotto has been criticized his whole career for the reasons they're now saying hes shot.

i'm not saying he isnt ... i am saying that it woulda been more of a fight. cotto has been hurt in almost all of his big fights and persevered but all those fights did take something outta him and it reflected in his mantal and physical state and reaction in the pac fight. it would been more of a contest imo, but one pac woulda still won
well if he got old its a different story, under the assumption he hasnt. i think of ssm like bhop a guy whos a gym rat and takes care of himself ... its a factor but it shouldnt be a defining one

We havent seen Mosley in a year and a half.

skill wise he may not have looked better but that version of cotto imo wouldnt have given up and gone into survival mode after the knock down. i am not saying cotto woulda won but it woulda in my mind def been much more of a fight

i have no doubt in my mind mosley would win ... that was a peak prime unbeatable cotto he fought and the fight was close as hell. cotto is not what he was in that fight and mosley looks about the same to if not improved with brother naz in his corner.

His level of competition is whats making him retreat it doesn't mean he's shot. I watched the Torres fight and the Pac fight back to back he didn't look any better against Torres than he did against Pac, Pac was just much better than Torres.
