Wait. When did i say he wasnt a Star?? no where in my post...
no but you do allude to that by asking where Mayweather's shirts are or am I mistaken? why else would you bring that up?
to compare the star power or lack of for Floyd right?
You ask me question why does Mayweather do so well in PPV... I gave you a answer..
yes but a HORRIBLE answer that I can refute all damn day.
imho more people watch him to lose then win.. There nothing wrong with being a bad guy.. Then you shit on my answer.. You cant even prove that more people watch Mayweather to cheer him on.. Not even in hometown more people come to watch his oppenent..
how did I shit on your answer? by asking you questions that were tough for you to answer?
cmon man this is a forum if you cannot take the heat then stay on the sidelines and let others take it from here
but I can easily refute your claims that people just want to see him lose to the tune of say 500,001 people (more than half of how many people saw the JMM fight)
Also when Mayweather fought Oscar and Hatton.. both were bigger star at the time.
explain how Hatton was? I am curious to see this considering MOST of his drawing power was in his fanbase traveling when the dollar was weak.
even then he didn't draw all that well, did not become a PPV person UNTIL Mayweather and subsequently his star power diminished when the economy took a shit
By the time Manny fought Oscar.. Everyone thought it was a circus..
what does that have to do with Mayweather's PPV success? stay focused.
By the time Manny fought Hatton.. I wil admit that Mayweather already took Hatton thunder and gave him a lost.. But the PVP#s were pretty close..
so? still doesn't explain why Mayweather can do it. Great numbers for Manny but how does this explain how Mayweather draws PPVs
you can also add in the economy...
yet you fail to do so only when it fits.......sigh......Manny
With the JMM fight.. Floyd came out right at the Hatton fight..
huh?
he took two years off if anything the aspect of him coming back was more thunder than anyone needed or do you forget the amount of Mayweather is unretiring threads on this board?
Trying to steal some thunder from Pac.. there were already talk about Pac vs Floyd.. and with the fake rib injury and moving the date later to help promote the fight.. Also People also wanted to see how Mayweather will do after retirement.. VS a guy who gave Pac trouble...
you really believe all this don't you?
Lets not forget.. That Manny vs Cotto did more PVP....
why would I? I never mentioned Manny's lack of drawing power.
You on the other hand are trying every way possible to refute Mayweather's
and lets say this
say Mayweather Mosley doubles what Manny Cotto does
I mean both are about the same in drawing power
whats does that say about Mayweather when he can double up what Manny did against a similar statused fighter?
But this thread is who is bigger then American.. My answer is Pac.. Floyd is 2nd.. right now..
and I never disputed that but you and your ilk CLEARLY cannot give Mayweather ANY credit for anything
why is that?
here if you answer only one question explain to me how JMM vs Mayweather did a million buys when:
1. the supposed Mexican star did a paltry 80k buys in his last PPV before the Mayweather PPV?
2. the haters tuned in moreso than the supporters of Mayweather when it was clear MOST people thought this was a mismatch and JMM had no chance of winning? I mean wouldn't that be a waste of money to the haters if they knew JMM had no chance?
I will await your reply
dawg see sorry but you are part of the problem that goes on here
I asked a simple question about Mayweather's PPV sales
even agreed with you about what you stated about HBO etc etc
and you find EVERY LITTLE REASON to shit on him
why? I mean for a fighter you guys call coward and gay and cherry picker he seems to be the main bone of contention for Manny fans
YOU mentioned the city of Milpitas not me bro I pointed out to you the two cities YOU mentioned have high Filipino populations. You tried to use both as run of the mill cities and I pointed out to you how high the Filipino population is in both.
nah let me shit on Floyd some more.....shit is tired
and I would love to explain why Mayweather has no shirts but why bother when you guys care less so long as it fits your hate agenda.
seriously dude get over it and give credit where credit is due
Mayweather may not have the loyal fanbase Manny has but he is a draw and not jst for the hate that comes from the likes of you, not from the fanbase of his opponent and certainly not for the people who tune in to simply watch him lose.
he is a star period.

I always felt I get pretty good odds betting on Floyd because people don't bet with their heads always regarding him.
Is it so hard to just concede that Floyd is one of the two biggest stars in boxing, is it seriously that hard to give credit to him. I would think it would be easier to just kill this issue and not argue about it anymore but I guess some people can't do that.
so let me get this str8 pactards say the reason floyd outsold manny against respective foes is because people pay to see him lose???so you mean more people pay to see floyd lose then to see manny win???and if so many people pay to see him lose..why is he never the underdog???ya'll make no damn sense at all
great logic :D

I have to own you on this one bro because you are doing nothing but hating on Floyd
http://www.ci.milpitas.ca.gov/visit_milpitas/about_milpitas.asp
let me fast forward to the ownage
"Milpitas is rich in diversity. In 2000, Asians constituted 52% of the population with Filipino the largest Asian group at 15%. Caucasians were 24%; Hispanic 17% and African-American were 3%."
um maybe thats because
http://niketalk.yuku.com/topic/13454/t/Pacman-signs-up-with-Nike.html
he is one of their endorses in a city where the Filipino community is large?
I mean just a reach buuuuut....
do you really want me to find the census poll of how many Pinoys/Pinays reside in SF?
thats great but doesnt explain why Mayweather does great PPV numbers
aside from the Mayweather Loves Mexico shirt I haven't seen many Mayweather shirts period
So are you saying they are not selling Pac-Gear in other citys?... Like New-York, Vegas, LA,, etc etc?? only here in the Bay Area?..
And if Mayweather so big.. Why cant I find a Tee-shirt anywere?
Explain this...
I got eat lunch at the Greatmall in Milpitas CA..
I have to own you on this one bro because you are doing nothing but hating on Floyd

All I see are Pac tee shirts... Go to Nike Store.. more Pac Tee shirts.. and a Pac Poster..

Go to SF over the weekend.. See more Pac shirts. and a Bill board of Pac..
do you really want me to find the census poll of how many Pinoys/Pinays reside in SF?
When I go to the gym.. I see alot of people wearing Pac-Tee shirts.. All nationality.. from Black, white, asian and latino..
thats great but doesnt explain why Mayweather does great PPV numbers
I dont see 1 Floyd teeshirt...
aside from the Mayweather Loves Mexico shirt I haven't seen many Mayweather shirts period
Mayweather does great PPV# cause people want to watch him loose..
Mayweather plays the Villian very very well. I have paid for every PPV he has.. and I dont even like the guy...
But dont get me wrong. Mayweather has alot of fans too.. you can see that with the Forums.. and he deserves it.. He is the best boxer today...
you have got to be kidding me with this?
so people pay to see him lose and thats why he can get to 1 million buys with a fighter MOST knew couldn't beat him?
isn't that being a bit hypocritical?
let me explain
on one hand you and some have said
his opponent was Mexican which is why sales went up in some aspects.
Ok so explain how when that said Mexican's last PPV where he was the main attraction did 80k buys
people want to see him lose
okay so explain why 1 million paid to see Mayweather fight an opponent most said was too small to be competitive and could lose in a bad way?
honestly I think most of the Manny fans on here HATE to give Mayweather any credit where it is due
its clear Mayweather knows what he is doing and its translated into people wanting to see him fight
yet to hear some of you its anything BUT Mayweather driving his success
PBF's PPV#s are faceless. But, we all know who is at the venues and it's quite obvious they're not well-whishers for PBF !!
why are the faceless? explain please
DLH - PBF = PBF boo'ed like crazy
Hatton - PBF = PBF boo'ed like crazy
JMM - PBF = PBF boo'ed like crazy
cmon now
DLH- the most popular fighter since Tyson. You think they aren't going to boo Mayweather
Hatton- UK dollar was strong so they came in droves
JMM- were you there? I was and the booing you said was vastly overstated. In fact when he started to put on a clinic a lot of cheers came out.
all three are PBF's highest grossing PPV's, yet, the overwhelming majority of the crowd were for PBF's opponents !!
DLH and Hatton yes
JMM you are out of your mind.
and what does this have to do with my original question
seriously is it just that you guys cannot give Mayweather ANY credit?
It wouldn't be too far-fetched to think that the folks that ordered the PPV's were pro Mexican or rootin' for Hatton.
yes it would considering Hatton really has no US based PPV fanbase
and JMM in his PPVs cannot do 100k buys
The thing is though, the haters know what PBF is about, he's a highly talented/skilled fighter and they respect that.
honestly if you think this is about haters wanting to watch Mayweather lose then you won't ever give Mayweather any credit at all
shame really
PAC is famous. Whereas PBF is infamous, either way, it makes $$$
to a degree but to say thats solely what they are is short sighted
Explain this...
I got eat lunch at the Greatmall in Milpitas CA..

I agree with all this but I have a serious question since you dont seem to be the type of fan who solely wants to shit on Floyd
how do you explain Mayweather's PPV numbers?
I mean I can explain the DLH fight no brainer
but the Hatton and JMM fight he was the star of the PPV
I would like to hear a non pro Mayweather point of view
Thanks

i'm not a pro mayweather but this is my take on it:
actually I was asking for non mayweather fans to reply so thanks I appreciate it
floyd's popularity is somewhat a "burst" kind of popularity compared to pacquiao's "sustained" type of popularity.
I think thats a misnomer because Mayweather has sustained his popularity since I would say about the Baldomir fight. Not on the levels it is now but both he and Manny rose at about the same clip when compared.
like when pbf is promoting a fight, he goes all out, appears on alot of channels, shows, etc
but so does Manny. Manny is all over the place when its not a closed camp, even appearing on Jimmy Kimmel.
and the way he handles himself during those times is crucial to his success at making his name even bigger.
how so? because he is loud and upfront?
after the fights tho, or when he isn't promoting himself, his popularity seems to drop down a bit than usual.
loyalty. I think thats what Manny has that Mayweather doesn't
pac on the other hand is different, he doesn't promote himself too much so his popularity doesn't get as much exposure as floyd gets when promoting his matches, but his name tends to stay at that level even when he's not doing all those stuffs.
cmon now.
you being a fair minded Manny fan should now realize he is no longer the humble guys you followed when no one else did. The whole aspect of him not promoting himself isn't true considering the media appearances he makes both on shows and at venues.
the manner at which he presents himself, to me, is the only difference between the two

whos steve farhood?
mexican indepence day? MAB and EM retired? no other bigger mexican boxer out there? not saying these are the SOLE reasons but it adds...
understood but to the point of one million PPV buys?
consider this
the prior Mexican Independence Day was JMM against Casamayor. It did about 80k PPV buys.
MAB and Morales transcended JMM a while ago so while JMM did start to build a fanbase I don't think his efforts against Juan Diaz translated into him and Mayweather having a 1 million PPV buys
so explain to me this
how do you explain the 1 million PPV buys for his fight with JMM?
I know what I would say but I am pro Mayweather but if I was making an arguement against him I would say that GPB promoted the shit out of that fight and spent a ton on marketing.
What I would come back with in support of Floyd would be something like to truly make that marketing take effect you need a star to make it work and considering the poor reviews it got, it is something like a movie with a big star that gets panned by critics but the fans still turned out to see that star.
thank you, thank you very much. why dont the pactards ever reply to this????
They do. In fact they got tired of responding to it because you guys never f*ckin' listen!
