According to tv-tipps.net 12.59 million viewers tuned in to watch RTL's broadcast of Klitschko-Chambers last night. That's 52.8% of all germans watching tv at that time and a new record for the Cologne-based broadcaster.
It was also the most viewed broadcast so far in 2010 for all broadcasters and mind you that we just had the olympics.
Who said boxing was dying? :)
who give a fuck about german tv records? ppl say that boxing is dying because of bullshit fighters like wlad klitchko, who had the physical tools to dominate all of his short, fat, undersized and for the most part over matched opponents, and decides to jab them alll FUCKING NIGHT!
Most top fights in America are lucky in they can sell out 10k venue and in spite of all the much more exciting American boxers you have (in your opinion) Americans would still rather watch American Idol. Are you mad because you live in a homosexual majority country?
Fact is Germans prefer to watch boxing and most Americans prefer talk therapy and gossip magazines. :bottle::bottle:
I was there for the event. Our tickets were EUR 55,- each. Nominally, it was sold out, but of the top seats, there were some hundred free. I assume there were some 48,000 people watching.
A very memorable event.
Of course not, RTL is free-to-air tv just like ARD (Abraham vs Dirrell), ZDF, and SAT.1 (Gamboa on Saturday).
Pay TV has never had substantial success in Germany.
Thanks for the clarification. :boxing:
TY sir, and it breaks records in what sense? Highest ratings ever for Boxing, sports? Or is the record broken for the year?
Ratings record of the year so far.
Second highest viewing figure for any Klitschko fight (highest was Wlad vs Austin with 12.9 million), and number six in regards to their market shares (Wlad vs Brewster II had 56.8% in the evening but Vitali vs Lewis achieved much more of course: 83.4% at 5 o'clock in the morning or so, with 4.6 million viewers at that ungodly hour).

Holy Shnizer!!!...and it was UFC fighters,Fans and dan white making wise ass comments that boxing is dying...not to worry their all full of shit
That's impressive.
It beat out the flyweight fight between Koki Kameda and Daisuke Naito, which peaked at just over 52%.
Bat, is RTL a PPV station?

Props to Wlad, but wtf honestly, Germerns don't have anything better to do? 50 percent, that is insane. But then again, its free television.
it`s 50% of people watching tv at that time. 12 million of 82 million germans watched the fight
sadley but all top boxers are not from america now days..floyd is only america's hope..lol..
never in this era will a HW champ be american again..
There's still Pavlik, Williams and Dawson and Andre Ward seems to have a bright future.
What was the price of the nosebleeds? You really think it was $100 average ticket? Still a very good gate btw, that's better then any UFC card and they are supposed to be taking over the world :D
It was just a quick estimate. I don't think the back 20K seats was particularly expensive :lol1:
