Mosley was robbed in that fight. Landed a lot more power punches than Cotto did. It's easy to own somebody with a jab if you land more of them than power punches. Cotto gets too much credit for that win in my view. If it had happened in Vegas he might have lost. Should've lost regardless.
Cotto edged Shane. He didn't dominate him. And he took a ton of damage along the way. People need to stop basing their breakdowns on dissimilar opponents. If PBF beats Shane he won't do it in the same manner Cotto did.
Reminder: in terms of Boxing Skills Mayweather>>>Cotto>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Margarito
Where were his skills when Margarito was whooping his ass from 6-11, and when pacquiao was unloading on him and knocking him out?
TROOF!
A mentally prime Cotto. :(
reminder, Mosley annihilated Margarito.
Cotto's jab was extremely effective against mosley.
Cotto needs his trainer back, ever since the split, Cotto has no clue how to game plan for different styles. His trainer really knew his shit, from fight to fight, Cotto fought differently everytime. His game plans use to be spot on. Now he has a team of guys who know shit about boxing.
if cotto outboxed Mosley i think mayweather will be able to !!
Nazim will make a lot of difference, whether Mosley has the talent and skills to pull off the gameplan is the question.
Think of it like this: How would it be easiest to train for a puzzle you had to peice together? What way would you be able to piece it together fastest? (Bear with me, it's not the best analogy)
Train a week doing different puzzles and use experience to finish the puzzle fast.
Train a week doing a replica of the puzzle and know how to piece it together fastest.
Obviously, it's the second, but instead of a time limit, it's an opponent. Don't underestimate a great/good gameplan and someone that can pull it off
TROOF!
So what?
Mosley is not really a boxer. Even his dad always said so. Jack Mosley called it power boxing. Basically the idea is to use the footwork of a boxer in order to get yourself in position to land your power shots. He's a brawler who moves around the ring as if he's boxing. But he doesn't really throw much of a jab or attempt to counter much.
Funny how i picked Mosley over Cotto, I thought Mosley would be too much for Cotto but i was proved wrong.
cotto neutralized mosley's strength and aggression with stiff jabs and that was working against pac in the first round and half the second, then he quit throwing that stiff jab.
