Do roids improve Boxing technique? because i here people say how Pac started taking roids against David Diaz but what i dont here is how much better Manny Pacquiao is technically, Pacquiaio did a paint job on Diaz but if you actually look at his punch variety, angles, counter punching its quite clear that he has improved his technique dramatically, now to my mind steroids does not improve your Boxing skill, technique but still people wanna point to that fight, okay so i here you say Manny knocked Diaz out flat on his face? yeah after punishing round after round and breaking him down, Soto a super featherweight hurt him, Kendal Holt TK'oed him.
Ricky Hatton was being hurt by the likes of Collazo, admittedly a 147 pounder, but by no means a good puncher even at the higher weight, Hatton also got rocked badly by Juan Lazcano a guy who spent most his career at lightweight and was not considered a particularly devastating puncher, he got knocked out against Mayweather whom i dont considered a big puncher, more of a sneaky puncher, also we can agree that Hatton was showing signs of deterioration and everything pointed to him being past his best against Pac.
Is anyone that shocked that Manny was able to beat Cotto when you consider how slow Cotto's foot movement is and how fast Manny's is? i hear people talk about him taking Cotto's power, Cotto was never a particularly devastating puncher anyway, plus he is a one handed fighter (a converted lefty with no pop in the right hand)
Its important to remember that the accusations stem from people who have/had an axe to grind, Mayweather sr because he trained Hatton who Pac annihilated, Malignaggi who got beat down by Hatton and Cotto, Pac just happened to beat both these guys down, then we have Mayweather himself of coarse, if there are any other critics they are people who have had their opinion coerced by these original accusers, if Mayweather does not question whether Pac is on roids then this is a non issue and know one is accusing Pac of steroids, bottom line.
Personally i dont think Manny did only improve with the Diaz fight, it was a progression from the Barrera rematch where he was moving his head more and trying to Box Barrera, as appose to take his head off with the left hand, okay he still had problems with JMM but he is just a guy that will always give Pac problems, although you might argue that Pac is at a more comfortable weight now and thus would KO him now.
Okay here is a vid of Pac against Diaz take note of the counter uppercuts that he painting Diaz with thats not steroids thats better technique improvement technically.
Roids give you strength.
EPO gives you stamina.
You're saying that since Pac has had great stamina all his life, he's been on EPO all that time? And since his skills got better over time, that is because he was on EPO?
Wow, among the village of idiots, you stand out.
Roids (including EPO) helps repair damaged tisue and muscle fatigue i.e. recuperate/heal faster thereby enabling longer, tougher and more frequent training sessions.
And no. I never mentioned Pac. My estimate is that you are beyond reach.
Exactly and roids will make you get fit and sharpen your reflex and work on your game plan FAR MORE because you will be in the gym twice as long with twice the stamina.
Are you seriously that stupid?
Tell me, who is going to sharpen their reflexes more, the guy that hits a double end bag for 3 hours a day or the guy who hits the same bag for 6 hours a day if they're BOTH GIVING CONSCIOUS EFFORT TO IMPROVE?
OWNED.
Manny spent the same number of hours working in the gym as the next guy next to him, so what are you talking about, twice of everything!!?! If ever team pac have to spend a little more time, that's because manny sometimes gives in to his fan's request who have waited for him for a couple of hours now, and do some autograph signing sessions or some photo shoots with them..
lol you have obviously bought that crap. "Steroids make you super human!" lol.
You'd probably believe a doctor if he told you that one cigarett will kill you...
Bought what crap? Are you disagreeing that there aren't performance enhancers for all that I've mentioned? Take your stance now.
That's called heart.
Steroids don't make your chin better. You don't feel less pain when you are on roids either.
No it was something else...they say they used something like it during the vietnam war for those who stepped on landmines.
I'll also add that most people use PEDs in training because it benefits them there. Wanna add an extra thousand sit ups to your regimen? They help you train more...lots more. And that will help you with EVERYTHING you're working on.
Steroids don't give you stamina at all, they just make you stronger, pure and simple. Roids have nothing to do with keeping your speed, making your chin better or give you more stamina.
speed, skills, chin, stamina > strength
They let you train through injuries though...
That's false. There are performance enhancers for speed, for blow resistance, vision, reflexes, stamina, even vision.
Try again.

True, i know this one boxer who got bloodied in the nose and almost broke all his bones in his fingers but he still went on and on just like those annoying clapping rabbit on a battery commercial...
I was even wondering how he felt no pain, 'twas really interesting to watch until someone let me on the secret.
He also said he is the greatest even without proving it.
If you do not know how to write will you not get better if you practice? And will you not, all other things equal, get better at writing than another person who doesn't practice?
It's quite simple really since roids enables you to practice more.
Agree?
Absolutely not. ROIDS don't enable you to do anything. So you're saying I take steroids I automatically am able to practice more.
BULLSHIT.
Steroids are for building muscle. PERIOD.
look man, diaz was basically a freakin punchin bag 4 pacquiao!
any shot he threw diaz eat it up, its been a while since i seen this fight and wow manny did 1 hell of a job!!
theres a diffrence between a david diaz to his other opponets he aint no amrquez no cotto oscar (tecqnical level) yea sure they got stopped but god damn manny was landin ever right hook @ diaz lol
so do i think pacquiao 'cheatin'? maybe its crossed my mind but am takin pacquaios word!
Techniques can be honed without roids....it is both mental and physical combined towards a sequence of movements while having the consciousness and the internal directness to call upon on given situations.
'Roids are external supplements that can make our bodies be resistant towards fatigue, pain and longevity in stamina being the most obvious.
What is 'roids' direct relationship with techniques?
Directly, none. But the resultant effect is due to prolonged stamina.
And so one who "bad" pure techniques to begin with will not improve but only towards their mechanical efficiency due to repetition. Therefore TECHNIQUES are as much mental AND physical because it is the application of "proper" usage of body angles, distance, specific movements and etc.
With regards to Pacquiao, stamina has always been one of his attributes. Being a "machine gunner" that he is, he would always be one. Pacquiao's work method and discipline are also noted together with his trainer Freddie Roach and pseudo-scientific diet/exercise regimen from Ariza taken from a Jeet Kune Do nutrionist friend.
I will not rule out the usage of steroids here but with the grueling workout and diet, I am also not surprised that Pacquiao and his team achieved something marvelous. We have seen the same with Olympian Michael Phelps and Cyclist Lance Armstrong.
The thing is that how good can an athlete be?
They are pushing the very limits of their minds and bodies and it is easy or rather convenient to say that they are "roiding" to begin with but we can stop and learn more about their regimen, diets and all.
This isn't 18th century anymore....we are in an age of information while again not ruling out the usage of illegal drugs (much to speculation) but we also have improved the way we think and use of our minds and bodies.
I think that the best approach is not to be cynical about it but to be optimistic that we can indeed be that good. But Pacquiao is much more than a physical specimen. Much like Phelps and Armstrong, they are also talented.
Techniques are important but it is only one of the major components of an athlete. Their insatiable desire to be indomitably in their best, their visions, their heart, their sacrifices...to mention a few are far more important attributes than just techniques.
Just as a musician or an artist, techniques can be learned, de-learned (if there is such a term)...they're dime a dozen if you will. What makes an artist or a musician are their presence, their existential stamp of their willingly participate, express, explore their hearts' desires...inspired.
We can indeed compare the athlete into these creative types. It is the usage of the body much like a dancer or a ballerina. And to coordinate ultra complex movements, synchronized, with power and grace.
I maybe too optimistic one might say...but in my book STEROIDS cannot make techniques...let alone an athlete.
My humble take on the issue. Peace!
Here is an analogy.
JJ reddick is one of the hardest worker in the league. He practice on d, shooting, work out on his strength and it shows this season with the magic on how much he improve. Now was his hard work enough to be better than some of these lazy ass players who don't even try to improve and playing off their natural ability(Like lamar odom).
gifted athletic ability+hardwork+ability to learn+motivation+x=pacquaio x=0 equal not on peds x>0 equals using peds.
You using reddick of all people.. How about Barry bonds?
Flomos have selective memory. They can't believe that there is someone other than Floyd who both started boxing at the age of 16 from 106 all the way up to 147 who can equal Floyd greatness. They both multiple divisions champion and mostly dominating their opponents in different fashion (Floyd on skills/defensive ways and Pac on speed/offensive ways) even at the higher weight classes. In fact Floyd could be won many belts than Pac if he only started straight to the Pro boxing at the age of 16 like Pac. Pac became 7 divisions champ because of his hardship and poverty forced him to fights an early age at pro level so that at least he can eats 3 times a day. Pac even has 3 losses and even Floyd went up (154) higher than Pac which is clearly Floyd (undefeated) is better than Pac. But you wonder why the flomos believed Pac is juicing and Floyd is clean.
So a thread discussing a general problem suddenly becomes a Floyd-pac thread. Let's face it; NSB is at an all-time low.
Ummmmmm, maybe its because its Mayweather and his family accusing Pac of being a roider?
or you're too thick to realize that sterioids will not make you skillfull.
If you do not know how to write will you not get better if you practice? And will you not, all other things equal, get better at writing than another person who doesn't practice?

now some flomos saying pac's work ethic is fueled by roids?? now i've heard everything.
Anyone who believe steroids turn you into a skillful athlete is an imbecile.
Pac has always had great stamina from when he was a scrawny 122 pounder to now.
Well according to the Pac haters, and the Mayweathers, Pac has become this "extrordinary fighter" due to PED's and/or A-side meth.
