Calzaghe vs Lacy and Trinidad vs Reid in the sense that you would have a young african american up and coming fighter with a lot of promise, getting ruined by an elite fighter.
Believe me when I say this, Team Pac is doing Alexander a huge favor by not fighting him this fall. Don't get me wrong, Devon is improving fast, but he has a ways to go and it makes no sense ruining a kid by putting him in there with the Pacman.
this is pointless, who ever said they will fight alexander.. anything other then pac may is a slap in the face to evryone. ofcource may vs mosley is acceptable
Exactly. Webb I know you are an Alexander fan but there were a lot of people posting that Pac should fight Devin next. I was just pointing out how foolish it would be for either side to take the fight. Obvious reason for team Alexander, and Team Pac has nothing to gain by beating him at this stage of his career.
Right. He just isn't ready at this point of his career. It just would not be a smart move at all...for either side.
kinda a wierd thread I havnt heard of this fight being an option for Pacquiao or for Alexander... but yeah Devon's not ready... But Bradley for damn sure would have a chance
Yes posters were bringing this up earlier. Roach said if they can't get Floyd or Mosley next, then he would want to fight Valero as a plan B. Then outta no where several people were saying pac should face alexander or bradley instead.
Bottom line is Valero isn't gonna improve much and is pushing 30. I rather see pac face him as a plan B, and let guys like Alexander and Bradley continue to improve as they will be the new faces of boxing in a few years.
The real question should be...WHY would Pac fight a young guy like this?

I mean don't get me wrong, I like Devin. But he needs to fight Judah, Bradley and other guys at LWW before he goes up against the very best fighters in the sport. I mean how many times have we seen young fighters ruined by getting rushed too fast or matched poorly?
I can't really say it better than this. Alexander against Pac is just a waste when boxers so talented and young are few and far between. Pac vs Valero is more suitable I feel. No offence to anybody involved but Alexander is the new wave, he's carrying the sport when the Floyds and Pacquiao's have retired.
Right now Pac would decision him easily I think, that's not a knock on Alexander, because I think in 2 years if he improves at the same pace we're already seeing he'd be a scarier prospect at 140.
If he decided to go to 140 and clean it out.....?
Good point, but at this stage 147 is where its at. THE FIGHT for Manny is at 147.
Devon isn't ready for Manny.
I don't think either Bradley or Alexander has any legit chance to beat Pacquiao right now. Alexander simply hasn't been in there with anyone that caliber and wouldn't be able to handle it. Bradley hasn't there either, and with his open style would get taken out.

Good point GDS. Pac would ruin Valero.
He needs to stop picking on lightweights and fight Mosley-Mayweather winner, Cinton, Williams, Bradley or Berto.
I didn't know Pac had a habit of picking on lightweights

Cintron doesn't deserve a Pac fight. Getting a gift over Martinez, basically quting against Tony twice, and running like a women from Williams elimates any chances at the Pacman. On top of that, his greasy @ss remarks about Manny sure as hell killed any chances he had.
Also Valero has a better chance and Manny than Berto. Berto is by far one of the most overrated fighters and if people can't see this, then I really don't have much to say to them.
Williams on the other hand, I wouldn't mind seeing. Only prob is that it makes no sense to fight him. He has no belt, Isn't a top guy at 147, and doesn't bring fans. Alteast Valero would make for an exciting fight and will allow Pac to keep his ring belt if Valero beats peterson and the fight is at 140. Williams gets a belt, then we can talk.
Not calling you racist, but why bring up race. Someone would get slammed for doing it and making Pac look bad. Valero's up and coming, and not proven at 140-147, and would probably be ruined by Pac, but that fight would ok by you right?
also the difference is that Valero is pushing 30, where as Alexander is 23 and not even in his physical prime. Alexander will improve a lot, whereas Valero is pretty much gonna make small improves and fight the same way until the time he retires.
The Valero now, will be the same Valero 2-3 years down the road, with minor improvements. Devin in 2-3 years cold be a top 5 pound for pound fighter and elite boxer in the sport if he continues to work hard and improve.
