just read this from a website's news article.
Clottey was set to receive $1.5 million, his highest pay check to date in his career. According to Mendoza, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones doubled Clottey’s pay to $3 million because he was overjoyed by the number of spectators at the stadium.
He didnt do anything except hide, yet Jerry Jones doubled his base pay?!!
yeah not sure how does "site fee" works ...
1 of 2 ways.......
1. someone actually "buys" the gate for a set figure, and they market and sell the tickets, keeping all ticket revenue. (more risk, but more potential profit)
2. someone puts up a "guarantee" number. They keep all gate revenue up to that number, and anything over that number is split between them and the promotion based on whatever split they agreed to. (less risk, but less potential profit)
Based on some Arum comments about Jones actually "buying" tickets for the Cowboy guests, this had to be a "guarantee" site deal, otherwise Jones wouldnt have to account to Top Rank for anything. He could have done whatever he wanted with the tickets.
No way in hell Floyd is fighting in Texas with Arums friend Jerry Jones.
i agree. And its a shame because they could easily reconfigured the stadium and break the nba all star attendance of around 110K for pacquiao-mayweather. And try to fit in 120-150K. They will be a record of sorts, for the indoor attendance, as well as the PPV.
This is good news for him but not for most boxing fans. Joshua Clottey doesn't deserve that amount of money for his lackluster performence. I seriosuly doubt he will ever be on a PPV Main Event ever again.
I dislike the cowboys. Jerry is what every owner should be in dedicated to excellence. Jerry makes the Nfl better and the Dallas area relevant. For him to give Clottey an extra 1.5 mil shows he is not a greedy old man. BoB needs to learn from Jerry.
don't worry about pac.
jones will be throwing out $30-40 million for site fee to pac-ssm/pbf
he did offer 25M for Pac-Pbf, which was supposedly matched by MGM. Next time around, Jones will offer more than 25M because he knew he lost at the 25M bid.
yeah, that's the same sentiment in our group that watched the ppv. We were kinda quiet after the fight. We were expecting a slambang boxing match; instead, we saw a punching bag sparring session.
pare, its a yahoo news article. Eto yun.

thanks bro but I am not too sure about the source from Ed Mendoza, he sounded to angry/bitter ...
post fight.
pre fight and it would have been reported.
jones probably felt bad for the kid. he probably found out how little clottey was getting paid in comparison to pacquiao and chances are clottey will never get a big payday ever again or even a fight after his showing saturday.
Oh okay makes sense then. Pre-fight wouldve explained why Clottey didnt fight back.
I call bullshit on that one..
why?
normally your trainer gets 10%, your cutman gets maybe 5%. Then the rest of your crew may share another 5%. Then Arum gets his cut. It could be 10-20% or so. Then his manager gets a cut. In the case of Pacquiao, his lawyer gets a cut. Then the local taxman gets his cut. Then in the case of Clottey and Pacquiao, their mother country's taxman gets their cut. Then you deduct all your training and actual fight expenses that are not included/covered by the promoter or in this case, Jerry Jones. Who else did I miss?
By the time the promotors, tax man and own people take their cut, a fighter will generally be able to bank about 25% of their purse.
Lets say clottey now ends up with a total of 4 million, then he will bank about 1 million
That applies to all fighters, not just Arum's.
