I don't know but I thought it was very inaccurate, almost ridiculous, to say that Clottey had landed more clean punches on Pacquiao than Diaz, De La Hoya, Hatton, and Cotto combined. It's even worse considering that Clottey had only landed a few punches by the 3rd round of the fight, when Max said it. If anything, Cotto has been the toughest opponent for Pacquiao because he landed a lot of clean punches through the first five rounds and even wobbled Pacquiao in the 5th round after a left hook. Any thoughts regarding Kellerman's "wise" remark?
dont for get to factor in pacs 20% connect % against clottey. that cant be taken out of the equation.
clottey was more effective against pac than cotto
yes cuz of clotteys defense, if cotto had clotteys defense, cotto stops pac.
hes right based on perccentage and more effective/cleaner shots landed
cotto landed a higher percentage, 31 to clotteys 27. he also broke pacs eardrum and bruised pacs face more than clottey. if you ask pac he would say cotto.
Nope, Cotto's punches had nothing even in the earlier rounds and thats why Pac stood there and allow Cotto free shots, Am sure a pre-margarito cotto would have had more power on his shots.
I think Pacquiao said that Cotto hit him hard, plus the cauliflower ear, the bruises, etc. However, I do believe that a pre-Margarito Cotto would have done way better against Pacquiao.
Kellerman is very lame. I can't believe he was praising Clottey for a showing that was extremely poor and disappointing, had the nerve to say that Clottey was doing better than Cotto, and then changed his mind and started to say that Clottey needed to step it up because he was not doing much and had lost every round up to that point. Talk about contradicting yourself in the blink of an eye. I've never liked Kellerman's comments but the guy is reaching a new level of mediocrity and bias. Does he even know that Pacquiao-Cotto was a great fight through the first five rounds? Does he know Cotto won, at least, three rounds? How many did Clottey win? Better yet, how many exciting moments did this fight had? I never thought a Pacquiao fan could be tedious or boring to watch. Clottey did his part to make the fight dull and Kellerman still gave him props for it.
Agree!!! you could add that if you take away the knockdowns Cotto won CLEARLY 4 of the first 5 rounds he really fought his heart out to get the win
Yes, Max says a lot of stupid shit. I remember in the Calzaghe-Jones fight, he said in round 2, " Roy Jones Jr. is making Calzaghe look like a washed up Felix Trinidad." The tone in his voice, you could tell he said it all pompous and snidy. He couldn't control his emotions and spoke too soon, when literally seconds after Max made that brilliant comment, Calzaghe had Jones on the ropes befuddling him with punches, both to the body and head (and was a round he won on the official scorecards). In hindsight, the comment looked even worse when you're sitting there watching the fight in round 12 after witnessing Jones get dominated for the vast majority of the fight. The dickhead went from "Jones is making Calzaghe look like a bum" to "Jones is washed up" in a matter of a few rounds.
That's only one example. There are dozens of others. I personally like when Steward owns Max on what's really happening in a fight. Steward makes some visual mistakes sometimes, but no where near the level that Kellerman does.
I disagree. I think Cotto's punches lost power as the fight went on. Through the first 5 rounds, his punches were crisp and snapped Pacquiao's head often, especially the jab and a solid left hook he landed on Pacquiao in round 5. Pacquiao even wobbled for a second. Anyway, that's what I saw.

Cotto landed more on Pac but Cotto's punches has no zap in it, Cotto's punches had nothing in them from the way it looked and thats the evident of too many wars from cotto's part, Clottey seem to have a better effect with the minimal punches that he landed on Pac, from the way it looked on the big screen if clottey landed more of his right hand then Pac might well be in a lot of trouble.

Yeah I didn't agree one bit with that. Without a doubt Cotto has been his toughed competition in recent fights followed by probably Marquez @ 130lbs. Everyone else have been annihilated bad.
That's exactly my take on this. I think Cotto and Marquez have done the best against him. I would say his top 3 opponents for the last 5 years have been Morales, Marquez, and Cotto. Perhaps Oscar Larios might deserve a mention also.

I wish Larry Merchant had been there to tell Kellerman he disagreed with that ridiculous statement. I remember Merchant thanking Cotto for a brave effort against Pacquiao. I don't think he would have thanked Clottey for his Winky Wright style defense at the expense of throwing few punches. I had a lot of respect for Clottey and thought he would be a tough fight for Pacquiao, but I did not see much last night.
Kellerman always needs to lie and/or exaggerate like that to make his point.
He seems to feel that the people listening to him are stupid.
In an outrageous (out of the ordinary) fight like this one (Pac vs Clottey)...figurative statements are to be heard as sarcasm to make a point. Not literally.
And the reason is the outrageous passive and seemingly complacent Clottey in not being able to take risk in a fight. (one argument I would buy is that he couldn't open up due to the barrage of punches coming from all angles that further pushed Clottey towards "closing down" or tightening up his defense rather than fight back.)
