Overated, I would hardly call wins against Kostya Tzu, Urango, Castillo as an overated fighter. He won 45 out of his 47 fights, a two time division champion for 4 years.
All this even after the 8th round with Mayweather score was 4 rounds each.
Nobody wins that many fights unless they are good fighters.
He lost to 2 of the greatest fighters in his era, celebrity got to him, and wasn't disciplined enough at the end of his career.
All in all he never ducked anyone! and that, for me, has a seal of approval about of what real champions are about.
You are right Hatton did do well with what he had, and I did not say he was a complete bum I just said he was overrated. Because in my opinion he beat a 36 year old Tszyu, that was nine years his senior. And Tszyu had only fought nine rounds in the previous three and a half years and only three rounds in the previous two and a half years. And the fight it self was a total slop fest in. With Hatton continuously off balance and by the way Tszyu has not fought since. Castillo was also old and had been stopped many time when he was in is prime so no surprise there. As far as Hatton being a two division champ many believe that he had actually lost to Collazo and he is far from a world beater. Ricky also got battered by Lazcano at times and I am not saying he lost but in my opinion it was a lot closer than what the score cards had indicated. And yes Hatton did win a couple of early rounds against Floyd but once Floyd figured him out he out classed him and knocked him out. I also believe there is no reason to mention the Pacman. So, in the end Hatton's best two wins were against Maligaggi and Urango. So yes in my opinion he is a bit overrated, and he is also still only 31 years old so this was all in his prime. And by the way Rob Calloway's record stands at 70-11, so does that mean he is also a great fighter?
Maybe it is simply the fact that Hatton woke up one morning and finally realized that he is in fact the overrated fighter that he actually is and decided to retire before he gets embarrassed again.

You know i was thinking that i wonder if Hatton has sparred before making his decision and realized he had declined or something and decided to jack in.
