The problem with Cotto is when he is on the offense he gets hit to dry. He doesn't roll with the punch or gets into a defense posture to minimize the damage. He has a good chin and is able to take a lot of punishment till he is physically broken down. He does pretty well once he goes on his back foot but he is naturally to left foot heavy. Mayweather would slice him up in the end of the fight
i voted cotto KO just for fun... but seriously floyd would win.. that said, floyd has to actually fight the fights to get credit for the win. you can't give floyd credit for beating cotto because he wins a poll.
Cotto causes Floyd problems with his jab early but Mayweather adapts and outboxes him the rest of the way.
Cotto simply lacks the defense and skillset to compete with Floyd for 12 rounds.
The jab my friend, ODLH gave Floyd fits with it when he used it. Cotto has one of the best jabs in the game and is a natural agrressor where as ODLH didn't even know how to cut the ring off (Freddie Roach said in training).
Sure Floyd could have won but I just see Cotto breaking him down and winning the decision.
What fight were you watching?
Sure the jab could pose an issue early in the fight but after a few rounds Floyd would start timing and countering.
Cotto does not have the boxing skill to hang with Floyd for 12 rounds.
The 140lb version of Cotto gets his ass beat... The 147 version gets hiss ass beats... And I havnt even seen the 154 version of Cotto but he'd get hiss ass beat as well... Floyd has and always been to skilled for Cotto, so much so he'd make him look inferior

The same jab that he forgot to keep using against Manny?
Cotto's jab aint consistent enough.
What frustrated me most about Mayweather was that I always thought that he would handled Cotto quite easily and before he retired I felt that was the 2nd biggest fight he could have had beside a Delahoya rematch which nobody wanted to see. Cotto was never a defensive fighter and was susceptible to uppercuts which I saw way before Margarito capitalized on it. Let's all remember despite the fact if Margarito's gloves were loaded or not he quite possibly is the slowest welterweight yet had little trouble hitting Cotto repeatedly with uppercuts. I was shocked at how long it took fighters to realize that. With Floyd's boxing IQ he definitely would have capitalized on this and outboxed possibly stop Cotto late.
Floyd would have beat Cotto at any point in his career. The way Cotto fights is what would have been his undoing. Cotto has slow feet and he has no defense. Both would get exploited by Floyd. Floyd is the better overall boxer and he's smarter in the ring. He would have made Cotto fight his fight just like he has made ever other opponent do. This wouldn't have been a good fight for Cotto thats why Bob Arum said Cotto wasn't ready to fight Floyd at 140. If he wasn't ready at 140 he wouldn't have been ready at 147 because his style of fighting didn't change when he moved up just his weight.
i think floyds accurate sharp shots at 140 wud have stopped miguel in the mid-late rounds, i think mayweather beats cotto making him look ordinary because imo he is and always was ordinary and cud have lost many fights that he won, such as clottey, mosley, corley, judah... all of these fights were either close or he was rele hurt at one point
dont forget that Cotto fought many WWs than FMJ

lets face it LW at that time lacks talent u cant rate boxers above because they ruled the division....look what happened to J. Diaz u think he was invincible but when JMM arrived u know what happened
Huh??? whaaaaaaat? :dead:

You don't know what you're talking about.
Castillo and Corrales were C+ fighters at Light Weight?

i think cotto, because he would pressure floyd and go to the body hard. don't get me wrong i definitely think floyd could run and counter and win by decision. however, cotto would be the best guy floyd's fought, hands down. and that goes both ways, but we know a guy like castillo gave floyd problems. and cotto has problems with a couple different guys before margs but he also ended up KOing most though guys, judah, torres, corley. i can tell you one thing if cotto had fought marquez, even now, JMM would not have made it 12 rounds, it is stuff like that, that makes me doubt floyd and how he would fair against skilled tough WW's, which he has never faced before.
people like u always make FMJ's record look so good!!!The truth is FMJ still has a lot to prove that he is really that good or the real deal not what always flomos are bragging about: FMJ always winning in fantasy fights, less accomplishments....OVERRATED!!
LOL I'm not even a Floyd fan, I dislike the guy really but there is no denying the guy has mad skills, he would of destroyed prime or un-prime Cotto.
