Shane Mosley is about to release footage of an 1999 interview of him and Floyd on a split screen. Mosley asked Floyd if he wanted to fight and Floyd said no, he ducked him. Nowadays Floyd is always talking about How Mosley ducked him in 1999 but, the truth is Floyd did the ducking
Well if you feel that way then why do people compare what SRL did to Floyd considering Floyd isnt a Big WW like Leonard was?
Nobody is telling Floyd to go up to MW or to fight P-Will... Shane is not that much bigger than Floyd. Shane is bigger but won't make Floyd look small in there. Is two different scenarios.
As hes gotten older hes gotten smarter. Passes more, crates for teammates, trusts his teammates, etc...Hes still the best player in the NBA by far.
You better take that shit one somewhere. No way Kobe is "way" better than LeBron.
dude hagler is a small middleweight by today's standards. leonard was a big welterweight even by today's standards.
not exactly the same as a guy with a lightweight build currently fighting a 6'3 giant middleweight.

ha ha pathetic argument, your not worth a single more moment of my time, your clearly a very biased floyd fan enjoy the fight on may 1st
:owned2:
Well would Pac fight Williams at 160 after 2 1/2 years away? You know the answer.
Spare that SRL crap. He didnt fight Hagler until he seen weaknesses. Now go tell Pac to retire for 2 1/2 years and tell him to fight Williams at 160 hell laugh at you.

That is so played. He never ducked anybody.
I never said ducked! Do you want me to play this out for you in separate posts so you get it slow boy. The guy doesn't like challenging himself, he fights for money. He should not compare himself to the best ever because he doesn't and in my opinion will never possess the qualities that elevated those fighters to legendary status, he is more comparible to roy jones and even then floyd hasn't beaten the fighters roy beat ala a young b-hop and james toney are better than anything on floyd's resume. The very best fighters put themselves normally on more than one occassion in a position where a loss might be more likely.
Don't make that comparison its laughable at best. Do I need to remind you of what those guys accomplished in the sport...yeah they had tune-ups, but they also had a hell of a lot of meaningful fights. I remember a certain sugar ray leonard, coming back from a 2 1/2 year lay off going up two weight divisions and fighting possibly the greatest middleweight of all-time in his first fight back. Like I said different breed
My point from the very first post stands and not one thing you have said has proved anything otherwise, in fact in certain cases you have helped me prove my point.

Who cares what he claims. He needed a tune up. Floyd isnt banned from taking tune ups. Hell SRR and Ali took tune ups.
Its alot of revisionists history with Floyd.

When did Cotto and Arum come to the table to offer Floyd a fight? They never did.
Winky vs. Floyd at 154 back when Floyd was a 140 Pounder. You knew that fight wasnt happening.
He came back to enhance his legacy and thats whats hes doing.
floyd was at 147, yeah I knew it wasn't happening because it was floyd
Not when he claims to be the greatest ever, and those guys were much more active then floyd. Not to mention both of those guys you mention have fought the better opposition

he didn't ruin the charlotte franchise.
blame jerry west.
when you're 17 yrs. old and jerry west is whispering in your ear and you're a lakers fan like kobe was......come on......
i don't care if his teammates like him. kobe always plays , kobe always work hard. if they don't like his personality they should at least appreciate is dedication.
Again great player, but I wont mind seeing him lose. Luckily I will see him lose this year.
Because he needed a tune up. There were no other tune ups fights available.
Cotto can fight Gomez and Jennings.
Marg can fight Golden Johnson but Floyd cant take a tune up?

If floyd wanted the fight with cotto, it would have got made before margarito. Floyd never came to the table, the arum excuse his bs, but yet he was willing to at least negotiate when it came to pac? my point stands. But hey agree to disagree
Why not floyd against winky? There were talks in 05-06 and floyd all of a sudden had a change of heart.
You have kinda made my point for me, too much of floyd's career has been shoulda, coulda, woulda
If he fights mosley and pacquiao I will give him all the credit in the world, I haven't knocked that in any post, nor would I

Nothing you said is news. Read my first post
You said the man lied about wanting to fight Shane and that is false. Listen, I was a BIGGER Shane fight back then. I personally can't knock Shane for going up to make a mega fight with Oscar. I was SOO excited when he beat Oscar. But below is the link where Arum said they OFFERED to fight Shane in 1999
http://www.nytimes.com/1999/05/13/sports/boxing-notebook-from-140-pounds-to-147-mosley-wants-it-all.html?pagewanted=1
LMAO
all this 1999-2000 and 2005-2007 duck talk is garbage from both sides.
the only time those 2 could have really fought each other and it make sense is now. (or maybe 2008-2009 if floyd had not retired)
floyd mayweather had barely won his FIRST title in 1998. he had no name value or at least barely.
for mosley to fight floyd in 1999-2000 when he was trying to chase delahoya would make as much sense as floyd fighting mosley in 2007 instead of $$$$$$$ for hatton and delahoya.
I'm a fan of both of these guy but the timing was off I agree. However, they did offer to fight fight Shane back then. I personally believe that it would have been A LOT more competitve back then and if not in 1999, the early 2000s. But we have it now and you won't here me complain. The only difference now is I'm a bigger Floyd fan than a Shane fan.
I don't think floyd really needed a tune-up, he admitted this himself. Shane hadn't fought for 10 months anyway, and why not take on a ww contender then, there were better fights out there for him, and the point on the other times stand
They chose Marquez cause it sets up the Pac fight, is high profile enough for PPV, and its serves its purpose as a tune up. Like I said before the only difference was that Mayweathers tune up was high profile.
You got alot of facts all wrong in this post. Arum out his own mouth said Floyd wouldve taken the fight with Marg but Arum wanted him locked i with Cotto and Hatton fights for little money. So he passed.
He told Cotto that he would love to fight him but he has to drop Arum. Arum and Floyd couldnt sit together and strike a deal for 100 Million how could they strike a deal for 8??
Williams is promoted by Haymon. So is Floyd. If Paul drops Haymon it could happen. Cmon man Floyd vs. Winky like seriously? You keep talking about shoulda, coulda, woulda.
Right now hes fighting the P4P Number 3 and Number 2 WW. Then after hes fighting Pacquiao the P4P Number 1 and Number 1 WW.
Cant knock that.
