I asked Dan Rafael the following question in his chat and got the following answer:
Andres (Chula Vista, CA)
What's the deal with Deontay Wilder? He hasn't fought yet this year. What's with his inactivity?
Dan Rafael (1:53 PM)
He was on a brief suspension in Ohio for some ridiculous thing -- long story but bottom line is music with some vulgar words was played during one of his walk ins, which is against the rules of the Ohio commission. And so even though it was not music Deontay picked or asked to be played, he took a suspension for it, which was later reduced. He'll be back on a Golden Boy show in the next month or so.
I agree. Why go to Ohio if you run the risk of accidently doing something that could get you suspended?
WOW Ohio are you seriously, that state is broker than broke. They deserve to be broke when they continue crippling themselves, they better watch out before Lebron James leaves Cleveland and they don't sell out the Quickenloans stadium, right now they heavily rely on them to sell out the stadium.
A hand injury would make sense and that's the type of answer I thought I was going to get when I asked the question, but that's not what Dan Rafael said.
Also, with suspensions the ABC usually wants fighters and promoters to honor suspensions issued by any commission and from what I've heard all the major promoters do it just on the basis of not created political biases against reciprocity. Because then you can work in any state without having to worry about cutting through too much red tape brought up because you just wouldn't honor a suspension.
Got ya.
I might be and probably wrong about the hand injury but I could have sworn I heard that as the reason a while ago.

:pat:... wow really?
Okay, but it sounds like he's only suspended in Ohio?
I thought he was out because of a hand injury.

Wow... too much. Ohio should be boycotted by relevant fighters.
